What version is currently out? in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

As of May 24, 2003, I still on see 1.03a.057 posted on stardock, but I thought I saw someone refer to 1.04. I always have trouble logging on to Stardock where it doesn't recognize my ID the first time, and I have to RETRY, so I am wondering if it is being buggy again or if there is a new verion. Thanks.

Ability to play with MAX AI ability but with no bonuses to production. The MAIN reason I purchased GalCiv (over other competitors) b/c I was fascinated with its AI. Most games increase difficulty by giving computer players faster production. GalCiv increases AI prowess instead - until you get to the 2 highest levels where the AI gets both increased thinking ability AND bonuses. I want to match wits with the smartest AI possible without it surpassing me constantly in product

1. I agree that Starbases should not be fogged. 2. Also, clearer indications on minimap and main map of explored areas that you can or can't see. The fog of war is too confusing. In Civ3 it is easier to see "dark" explored areas b/c there is terrain (like mountains and forest) where the brightness can be fiddled with to show you can't really see it. It is more challenging here, but I am sure you guys can figure out a way to make it superclear (unless I am just missing it... :notsu

Thank you all for your advice (and esp. to Frogboy! - I will try that). I have rarely been so impressed with an on-line community - both contributing players and designers. Although, there are still some aspects of this game that befuddle and frustrate me, I constantly praise the developer's commitment to constantly fix/update what I am sure will become masterpiece. Thanks you all for your assistance (hopefully SDC will fix this problem so I can get back to playing updates!)<b

I used to have no problem with it but now it refuses to recognize my email/serial number for updates. When I ask I ask it to LOOK IT UP it sends me the correct info to my allegly wrong email. And then after 5 business days, no assistance. So, my copy of GAL CIV is permanently history. Any suggestions how to get their attention?

Bummer, it is some problem unique to me. I wonder why it wouldn't accept my serial number all of the sudden? It always worked in the past!

Ever since SDC updated itself about a day ago, it won't accept my old registration number to my email. I even asked them to SEND ME my serial # that they had on file to the registered email they had on file and copied and pasted that in and it didn't work. I know this isn't the SDC site (and I contacted their customer support) just curious if anyone else had that problem... Thanks...

1. Permit the player to start with a random type and size galaxy the same way you can randomize everything else. 2. Version Number: List the player's current version # in the read me file. I could very well be wrong (in which I case I'm sorry!) but I don't see the version # listed anywhere?? Thanks!

Is 1.02.40 the latest version? I have logged on to SDC a buncha times and made sure my registration was up to date, and that is the only one I see, but I thought I saw a few people discuss .41 and .42. Also, how do I tell what version I have? Thanks!

I still don't get how invasions are calculated. I invaded a planet, all even bonuses with the opponent and had something like an 8-2 advantage. I thought you are supposed to get a *slight* advantage. I wish there was some hard core doc on estimating what you need for a successful invasion...

You know, mass drivers takes a penalty, etc. Of course, given that you are invading with genocidal tendencies anyway since you can't share planets, maybe it doesn't make sense :)

If you already have an incredible advantage over an opponent (diplomatically speaking) does it matter if you keep researching more and more diplomacy? That is, can you gain greater negotiating advantages even though you are already at incredible? Thanks!

Other than the encyclopedia, is there anywhere to get good examples of the following: 1. How ecomics works in terms of IUs vs. spending levels. The examples in the encyclopedia were too confusing for my small brain. It would be helpful to have several really complete and simple ones. 1a. For example, the encyclopedia has an example starting with 20 IUs. What determines that in the first place, before improvements - population, PQ? How many IUs do I need in general to keep

If you say you will trade let's say 100 credits for 0 months, that means you will give 100 credits right away. What about for 1 months? Is that the same thing as 0 months or does that mean 100 down, 100 for next month, too. It seems like only 100, not 200 - which if this is the case seems sorta silly, and they should take out the 0, but maybe I was just missing it... Thanks!
