I had CV stick at 12mos through a bunch of a months. My sector influence never changed during this time. I ultimately won with a military victory. ~SDC~

I'd like to be able to set up governors offline, as a full list of technology. It could either just work with the original four, or actually let me load in the data through a load file interface so I can have as many as I want and just switch. Right now, it's a pain to have to add techs to the list every time they're researched, when I'm going to want them in a specific order anyways. Just let the displayed list be the greatest common denominator of "what's been researched" and "what's in the
In the latest version 1.01a.034, the speed bonus works correctly...however, your first two ships (the hero and the colony ship) start with 2/4 movement available. They should start with 4/4 available. ~SDC~
There was a patch this morning that fixed it. It was previously giving a 20% upgrade or something like that...iow, you wouldn't see it until you had a ship that could move 5 spots anyways. ~SDC~
I believe all of them currently have a downside (or at least no upside) for Good. Diplomacy seems to be the only real problem (though if you're an evil race, the good races will apparently sometimes band against you out of altruism). Right now, I'm not clear that alignment has any big impact on the game. ~SDC~
Speed bonuses from Techs should be clarified. If the tech gives +10 speed, and that means +10%, there should be a % sign listed somewhere. :) ~SDC~
Seriously, it's not that hard. There's a first-few-turns walkthrough and several play examples available. I wouldn't mind seeing a tutorial there, but it's not a huge need. ~SDC~
Display some semblance of Fog of War on the minimap. I'd much rather have something indicating my sensor range than the GalCiv watermark in the background. ~SDC~
Hate to break this to you, but there is no espionage slider for the minor races. That one's toggling the last major race you chose. Filed a bug on it earlier. ~SDC~
Maybe there should be a "Trojans" social project that'll slow population growth. ~SDC~
oh, wait. sorry. confused colony ships and transports. damn the lack of a delete button :) ~SDC~
yeah, it really should works as a percentage of one billion, since that's the maximum number on the ship. ~SDC~
Yep, makes the most sense to me. Production capacity shouldn't automagically upgrade just because some other planet's idle. Let the unused bc's head straight to the treasury (or contribute to balancing the budget) ~SDC~
oh, 15) There's no way to assign "No Governor" to a planet, so you always have to keep one empty. ~SDC~
1) Major races' stats screens don't display home planet anywhere. Odd, when the minor races screens do. 2) Would be nice to see and sort by the operative governor on the planet list, particularly because the governor usually designates some sort of high-level type in one's strategy. 3) The tactical/standard map switch on the planet list would be appropriately promoted to the main interface. I actually use it most often with the ship list. Kind of silly to have to duck in the planet
Note on #10 above, when I say route was refused, there was no message. The minor race's planet just wasn't accepted as a valid right-click for the freighter. Right-click, nothing happens. If it's not a valid target, there should be a message saying so. ~SDC~
Again, some duplicates here. May I suggest Bugzilla or something, if we're really gonna be contributing this way? :) 1) "Show All" button on the trade screen does nothing. 2) The Espionage and Destabilize sliders are active when the minor races are displayed, but really affect the last major race. 3) Trade Routes display as +2% instead of +2 routes in Domestic Stats 4) Espionage bonuses from anomalies (possibly other bonuses too) aren't reflected on Stats until the nex
Hm. I guess the registration issues thread's about as close as we currently get. :) ~SDC~
Maybe it should shorten the terms of the loan the closer you are to any particular type of victory. At 90% victory, the longest term loan might be 20 months instead of 225 months. ~SDC~
latest patch says it's changed from a percent to an absolute number of squares. ~SDC~
Just a note, hitting "Refresh" from the Software screen didn't show the update. I had to back out of SDC completely and log back in. Is there a forum somewhere for SDC suggestions and bugs? ~SDC~
The pdf currently up on JavaScout's site is in searchable text and is 1M. No bookmarks, though, so I don't think it's yours. I remember a recent message from someone I took to be in Stardock saying they'd cleaned it up and updated it. I don't believe it's been added to Stardock Central's update mechanism though. http://www.estats4all.com/pph/dlcount.php?id=JavaScout&url=/GalacticCivilizations.pdf ~SDC~
I can't seem to use JesusOfBorg's Cryogenically Preserved Precursor Event download. I get a corrupt zip file error from Windows XP. Has anyone been able to install this? The other events and anomalies come down fine. ~SDC~
Yeah, it did help, at least in terms of confirming that what I'm seeing is what's happening. For some reason, I didn't think that's what it -would- do, though. I have noticed that occasionally I get a slightly different set of penalties...usually it's just the party ones, but sometimes other get lumped on. That may be the "opposing party" thing, though. I'll have to examine it more (it's hard to test, since I'm generally not trying to lose elections. :) ~SDC~
If you use Stardock Central, it will keep a last-read pointer, so at least there's that. ~SDC~
