It's only been five or six weeks since the last update. Nobody is abandoning Sins--further updates will come when they're good and ready.
Well, thank you kryo! This is really all that is needed; once every week or two a brief message even if there is nothing of substance to be said yet. Poke a pin in the information vacuum regularly and there will not be one.

I played StarCraft a very lot many years ago. Was a modder too. Stormcoast Fortress and all that. Never got a beta key for SC2, but watched a ton of videos. Mixed feelings. I really wanted just an updated StarCraft I with existing units polished and tweaked and some cool new stuff. Considering what we have coming: I don't like the graphics. They are not sharp and clean. And compared to recent RTS games like Red Alert 3 or Command and Conquer 3 or anything else for that matter
I think Ironclad would say something if they could. So for some reason they cannot. If Ironclad cannot say something about these issues, then Stardock probably will not. Strangely, this is very like the situation in another game that I play. The developers have gone silent and remained so even after three threads with contributions in the hundreds of replies each. Finally at long last, the publisher (not the developers) announced a further DLC for the game, details unknown. In
Yeah, well first of all can they make all this work? The graphics and hype are nice, but this really sounds like recanning endless seas of worms from the development side. When I saw the title of your post I thought it would be about the decline and fall of Rise of Nations. That game could have been a lot better than it was. Will always be sad that it was not.
So there's no observer mode? Is this going to be changed? Otherwise can you update the FAQ page? It's very unfair for those of us who bought the game expecting the feature that was promised.
That's what I was suggesting with my silly comment. The only game I play with an Observer feature is Guild Wars. And in GW Observer is limited to watching replays of high level PvP contests. It is useful to see what builds are in use and how to play the character in a PvP se
Wintersong, I would ask on the GoG forums. If they do not mention Windows 7, it may be that it does not. Someone does seem to have it running on W7 64. http://www.gog.com/en/forum/master_of_orion/_/1
Why should you even care? What anyone else thinks about anything whatever is of no concern. They will all presently be dead anyway. As will you.
Lurking in the background here is the cultural belief that deep down everyone knows that all religions are the same. This is a Western presumption of relatively recent vintage. Not everyone accepts that belief, neither here in the Useless Arse of A and certainly not in the rest of the world. Nor will they necessarily do so in the future. There really is nothing sacred about Western cultural beliefs or opinions. They are, after all, nothing but little electronic patterns swirling in ou
Played EVE Online for about six months several years ago. In EVE you are piloting a single ship at a time, although you may own a whole fleet of ships. EVE has a wide variety of ships for different purposes from warships of all kinds to mining boats and freighters. In Sins you are controlling fleets. So game play seems very different to me. In EVE, you are talking six months to a year to really get rolling in your specialty whatever it might be. With Sins, games last a few hours usual
Had not noticed this about Observer Mode. From the FAQ, what it be say: Q. Is there be an Observer mode? A. Yes. Q. What is the maximum number of players allowed within a game? A. Up to 10 players may be present as participants or observers. This seems fairly clear. And is emphasized by "is there be" which is the transfinite present hyper activated tense used by all great game developer
Yeah, read about it on Slashdot. Very horrible. It has been many years since I ran McAfee and that was in an office where some were convinced it was the best. At that time, something was always wrong and we eventually changed. How about all the people at home who do not have an IT handy? Tough for them.
1. Search for *.record 2. Run Command, enter %appdata% and look in Local and see if you can see Ironclad Games 3. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/374875 Kryo gave this answer previously. You may need to set some folders to not be hidden before you can see the directories.
Wish they had done this to begin with. At this point, I've watched so many commented replays. I don't really want a beta key anymore. Yeah, I'm an old SC player but I think I might let this game be out for six months or longer for them to get the balance right. Balance still looks iffy to me.
Larry Niven's Known Space stories and Ringworld series is a goldmine of possible lore sources. "In Annatar11's post on custom cap ship names, someone mentioned that there are two player portraits of a half-done race. This race is likely the Vasari's nemesis. Their appearance- lion-like w/ headphones." This suggests the Kzin, but while the Kzin are aggression incarnate, not quite mean enough. The Puppeteers were fleeing something, but it was the blast wave from the core of th
Moooooooooooooooooooooo! Eh, by golly! The return of the cow levels! "Yeh, the menu says it's version 1.40b23" -- quote from GoG forum. So this is not just the last official MOO2 patch 1.31, but the latest fan patch. I think it's the latest? 1. I like GoG, but I would like buying this from Stardock even more . Any chance of getting this deal on Impulse? 2. Any chance of Stardock buying the franchise from Atari and giving
synnworld, interesting name. The cases you mention seem ok to me. I have never pirated a game. Furthest I have gone along those lines is to install no cd cracks for a few games. For convenience. Though in one case I found that Securom would not let me load the game. The publisher no longer supported the game. Forum could not suggest how I might get the Securom reset. So I downloaded a crack for that one too. My game, I bought it. I think genuine piracy is the equivalent of sho
I do not hate WoW. I do not hate Blizzard. I respect both highly. However, the lemming effect is very real because WoW can become such a major part of your life all too easily. WoW addiction is not a myth. I started playing WoW when it first came out. For nearly 3 months I was a classic case of WoW addiction. It took horrified friends and concerned coworkers to drag me out. Much later on, I went back and found I could now keep it in proportion and limit my playtime. Then for a very lo
Blizzard has created lemmings. "here is a new cliff for you to jump over and fall into a new ocean of wasted time and money; buy your ticket and queue up!" Lemmings: "Yes, master!"
Civilization IV with Beyond the Sword and latest patch 3.19. The basic game is good enough to keep you playing for years, not months. But there are also very well done mods that you can also play that are almost new games in themselves. And of course Civ 5 will be out around September of this year. Civ 4 has a very active fan community. Visit www.civfanatics.com for lots of info. A mod, Fall From Heaven II, changes Civ IV Beyond the Sword into a fantasy adventure game.
The positive value here is that Thulemanden is honestly reporting first impressions of a frustrated new Sins of a Solar Empire player. Probably a lot have the same experience, but do not bother to come to the forums; if they even know where the forums are. The Sins tutorials could have been much more comprehensive. The manual could also have a Quick Start section with some of the basic strategies for getting started and getting familiar with the game. Or, there could have been a Quick
The first one performed very poorly for me. Plus, too, I just did not like the game. So no sale here.
They did not send me a beta key either. So I'm in the same boat. I've spent countless hours watching the replays with commentary on youtube, and yes this is going to be a great game. I played SC Broodwar a lot way back when. There are things I don't like about the new version. But this is just a beta, after all. They are probably holding back a lot for the full release. The Single Player campaign looks good such hints as we have of it. The editor and modding tools are going to
Haven't trusted the major review sites in years. 1. Let the game be out for a bit, then 2. Go visit metacritic and pay particular attention to the lower pro scores. Look at the user scores also. Gamespot does have user reviews and there is always gamefaqs. At gamefaqs poke the PC button and stop to marvel once more that whatever else may be shown on the listing of the top 10 games and boards, Diablo II LoD is always there! 3. Visit the official forums, if any.
Yeah, I played that way back, though the memory is dim. I also played Warlords IV Heroes of Etheria a very lot for some unknown reason. Heroes was deficient in too many ways to list here, but there was something about it that really fascinaed me. Hope they make it out with another successor to the series.
Wish I still had a copy of MOO2 that worked. There was just something magic about that game, incredible for the time that it came out. In spite of its more bizarre features, it could keep me playing until 4 in the morning. The species really played very differently. I like the Meklar and the Psilon. With almost no graphics at all the species had strong personalities that affected the whole game. If only MOO3 had simply been an enhanced version of old MOO2 ... (said wilebill as he flogged a ve
