I don't think there is a region server but the game is played mostly by people in Europe or North America so to find the bigger games you would have to go online in the evening of those countries. So if 8pm is prime time in the UK then that is...7am in NZ at the moment so...yeah, not ideal :) In your evenings EU and NA are at school/work I guess. Try creating a game perhaps. People are much more likely to join them than create them. Global chat coming soon, maybe th

The Fury should and needs to be fixed (which it is). It's a bug which should not have been there in the first place and makes the game's opening tedious. Fixing it does not suddenly make the Sub and PHC that much more similar. The Substrate do need a refinery mechanic. Playing the other day as PHC in a big 3v3 game one of my metal spots was making over 20 metal. Substrate just can't compete with that right now. I do agree that the Substrate should probably not get
So does this mean that at the moment Ashes doesn't 'do' GPU Async compute?
I don't really get your logic from what Frogboy said, but there area a lot of articles and graphs out there detailing Async compute/shading. On this page it shows you the performance impact of having Async on or off with various cards: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10067/ashes-of-the-singularity-revisited-beta/6
12 Cores? I guess you can be the host when we get the Huge maps :)
Founders get this DLC for free? If so its not showing for me
If you are a lifetime founder then yes, if you are a basic founder (like me) then the DLC is not free. If you are a lifetime founder then I'd contact support.
In your other post about this you say you have 24 maps both before and after you install Gauntlet. I have 35 maps. Gauntlet adds 5 so I would have 30 without it. It makes me think you have not been getting the various free maps which have come with some of the patches. What version of the game are you running?
http://www.techspot.com/review/1155-affordable-dual-xeon-pc/page7.html That is a recent write up of the Xeon you are looking at, the link is the game benchmark page if you are curious about performance with other games. Obviously most games only use 4 threads and the CPU is a little older so a decent i5 will beat it for gaming currently. Obviously 8+ cores is great for other things though.
I asked the question because I saw a extremly cheap Xenon e5-2670 for ~60€ or 70USD and some motherboards support two cpus
Quite a while back on the Steam forums there was a guy with a 32 core ex-server system, two CPUs of 16 cores each. He showed the CPU workload spread across the CPUs, the first was fully utilized and the 2nd was not used. I think he wanted to know if the game was meant to/could use the sec
Looking forward to it!
Very nice [e digicons]:dur:[/e] I have a question about the CPU Cores: do we benefit from more than 8 for example 32?
The game supports up to 16 cores and on recent benchmarks the game ran faster on the 10 core Broadwell-E then any of the other 8 or 6 core machines. (So the scaling really works, and more cores > faster clocked cores) As fo
I'm not referring to that game, it was a game where it said match found and before it could load you disappeared. It is possible I am miss-remembering the name but it was not a slight against you as I don't believe it is a user error so there is no blame. It is good that you have reported it.
Must be a bug somewhere in the chain. It has happened to me once or twice, when it seems to be about to kick off and then the other player leaves, the last one was a few weeks back and the player was called Never. If that is you then for me it is quite funny that you are the one reporting it :) (Just to clarify I suspect it is some server problem and don't believe the people are quitting)
The problem with the Fury right now is that every game is reduced to rushing out a Fury at the beginning to counter it. For me that is no fun. In a 2v2 yesteryday I went straight for Fury and took out all the engineers of both opposing players. Effective but it was no fun and in the rematch I didn't do it again. There are plenty of ways to balance out PHC vs Sub without an OP Fury. People should stop getting a bit personal in here. Balance will no doubt change again with 1
Not a buff, just their AA weaponry being able to target ground in addition to the their normal ground weaponry.
Ah, I get ya, thanks for clearing that up.
BTW, there's a new opt-in called CPU Benchmark that has a bunch of performance improvements and a new CPU benchmark.
I tried it twice but it crashed to desktop instantly. I filled in the little report box.
I think Steam did a big drop. I was in an epic ranked game and it dropped me and Steam had no connection (websites worked fine). I have to say it was super frustrating as the game had raged and gone back and forth so much. He was rank 5 and we were similarly matched. I had been about to enter rank 5 about week ago but after 5 or 6 games in a row vs Legendary players I am now back in 7. Sorry, eugh, but best ranked game I've had in a while and we'll never know who would h
Whether a game can update while you are playing a game or not is a Steam option. Whether a game updates at all (manual or automatic) is also a Steam option. The Devs normally (and always should) let people know if a patch will effect the save file or not in the patch notes, which are put up here and on Steam. It is annoying when it happens I agree but you do have the ability at your fingertips to stop it happening ever again. (On Steam at least, I don't know how GO
Skirmish map sorting Select air hot key (F2) Add someone as a friend from the MP lobby
Skirmish map sorting is already in and was in the previous 2 patch notes too (came with first of those). Unless you mean something beyond the current implementation F3 already selects air units, though it is a bit buggy as it makes a very loud noise when you press it and then no path lines appear when you direct them. F2 is currently for idling fact
Ok I just looked. We didn't intend for the Fury Cannon to be able to target ground. It must have gotten updated to that during the recent AI targeting improvement pass.
I think Furies have been able to target ground a long time? But I guess it must have got a buff at some point recently. I was under the impression it was there to increase options for early game harass, like taking out unguarded resource extract
If you are PHC you have to go Fury as early as possible. If they go Fury early and you don't then say goodbye to your engineers and you have essentially lost the game.
If you see a player taking radioactives first, you know they're probably doing something with tech.
You have to commit to going metal or radioactives first before you know what the opposition have gone for so you cannot react so fast. I don't mind fighters b
Really nice looking patch. Optimization for better scaling on multi-core CPUs It looks pretty good as is, at the top of this page where it looks at the new Broadwell-E CPUs you can see the more cores the better the performance in Ashes already: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-broadwell-e-6950x-6900k-6850k-6800k,4587-3.html
Cool map shaj, you can also share it here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/228880/discussions/3/364042703863267476/
I love this update, bringing massive scale to it. Please being in "being attacked" notifications we can jump to when you bring in the huge maps as it is so easy to miss stuff happening with the larger maps. Glad Asaddf is on the case, he's done great mock ups before. Maybe Zen will bring in high quality affordable 6 core CPUs and then Intel will have to follow suit, likely with Cannon Lake in late 2017. So Mega maps 2018? :)
The Steam summer sale is coming up soon. What we want to do between now and then is address things that you think turn new players off the game. Obviously, with a limited amount of time there's only so much we can do. So in this thread, please let us know what *simple* things could we do that you think would make Ashes more appealing to you, your friends and new players?
- For me I really do not like the look of the white circular graphic whic
I'll take your word for it. I've only ever done it small scale with a few people so I've always done it through Steam's own chat system. Very passé no doubt :)
Hope you get some help man, I know there are a few others out there who want to do more but are currently somewhat hamstrung as they need to know a little more from the Devs. Ages back one of the Devs said they were writing up a guide (different to the existing one I believe) so hopefully that comes before the budding modders move on. p.s. Those artillery emplacements look very cool :)
