Good find!

The game freezing at the beginning of a game is by far the most common game breaker for me at the moment.
Thanks for taking the time to write that. Very interesting with refreshing honesty. Erm...can I have your job? :) Would have been very interesting to have been a fly on the wall during the discussions over those numbers and the category weighting. Are you expecting any of those numbers in Ashes to change down the line or are these more or less constants? I'll be curious to see what the 8 for moddability entails in reality. You've only given it a weighting of 4
When I play Spaghetti, it does not crash, but when I play a lot of others like yobs9874 we crash all the time!
When you say crash do you mean crash to desktop or the game freezing at the beginning?
Is there any way we can have a option that will reconnect the player to the game if they crash.
He ruled this out the other day after Tatsu inquired about it. It was ruled out on a cost/time to benefits ratio. I am not going to contest that but I'd like to understand it a little more. From my layman's points of view I would think it might be worth doing? If it were just for this game then fair
Thanks so much for the response. I'll be sure to post results with the forthcoming beta build. CPU is a 5930k OCed. Can't wait!
NP and I look forward to your results. I'm gonna guess they will be running on 4GB of RAM in reality but it should still do a sweet job.
Indeed. Beta 2 will have support for multi-GPU on DirectX
I played for around 6 hours yesterday and finished a game with no crashes. Though i have only been playing since 1.5 and the only crashes i had were when i was making new ships. In this particular playthrough I only created one ship because I wanted to win in any way other than War.
I think you have posted in the wrong forum/thread, this thread is about Ashes of the Singularity :)
Let's be fair. I will destroy you all.
And I shall be destroyed by you all...huh...hmmm. But I'll have fun doing during it :) Was too tired to play last week but plan to be there this time.
Not supported yet I'm afraid. But come Beta 2 on the 25th of this month they will be supporting multiple GPUs. Likely just DX12 unless new drivers are dropping for the game to support SLI/CF under DX11. With the two dual-GPU cards your system will be an interesting test case to see how well it does. At the moment you are just running 1 of the 4 GPUs in your system. I'd be interested in an update from yourself once the next Beta is out, if you're willing. If it a
Maybe you can private message him to go over the details. I think it would be pretty cool for you guys to do.
They are not icons. Icons can overlap and can generally look messy. The way suggest above is a much more muted approach. Anyway, no point in getting too heated over it. Couple of people talking about needing more height variation and I agree, and a Dev has said they will add a third tier of height at some point down the line. But for now I think what is more important is to show the player that your units gain a range and sight advantage from being placed higher up. I h
I'm pretty sure it will support that resolution, they support up to 4K. You'll need some nice hardware to run it on high settings at that resolution.
That spinning around Substrate unit looks gorgeous.
I like it, it gives the user an easy to read understanding of the armies makeup, works when zoomed out a fair way, and adds no added clutter at all. I don't think it is going to go in though. The zoom-out in the Beta seemed smaller to me than even in the pre-Alpha. Probably because of the shrinking of the units and buildings. But it makes me think they have settled on the close-up gameplay for now. Both Homeworld and Act of aggression switch to a different view when zooming out pa
We need to be very very careful about over-emphasizing the importance of MP. *I* love MP. You guys love MP. But if we can get even 10% of the active player base playing MP games I will be extremely happy and surprised. Ashes is going to get around a 76 metacritic score. It's going to lose points because: The in-game campaign polish isn't as good as Starcaft/Homeworld
The current build is less stable than the final pre-alpha build. I have almost exactly the same system as you, and while I don't crash as much as you have I have taken a bit of a break as it is a bit frustrating. Kinda waiting on Beta 2 which should hopefully address a lot of the crashing as well as many of the control and UI issues.
1600x900 is the minimum display resolution supported by the game (from the store front page) so unless you can meet that I'm not sure much can be done. There is a UI slider in the game options if you wanted to try that.
1600 really scratched that OCD itch in the back of my mind. It's a nice, round number.
haha, I know what you mean. Once you've got it stable I wonder how much of a difference it will make. 1 or 2fps? So not a biggie hopefully. Might need to be some kind of gentle warning on the game though as I think a lot of GPU overclockers have had this problem. Perhaps just a pinned thread in the forums around release time. T
(Star Citizen is not a DX12 game yet)
The reason I bring this up is that nearly all the things you mention fall into the "Great to have in the future but would never consider holding up release for them." Balance. Yes. Replays (they're coming but not for 1.0) Give units to allies (future) Alliances (future) Global Chat (future) Map Pings (future) Per Team text color (future)
Future as in post-release
Instead of having people download a large map (unless you have got around that somehow), you could put the DLC on everyone's system. Of course only the people who bought it would be able to see them and select them. But it would mean when a non-DLC owner joined a game with someone who owns the DLC they don't have to d/l it. Well, unless you do put the maps on some server as queried by Asad and then it wouldn't be so bad as the D/L would be faster and each map would only be a one t
I think it might be because of steam update that added experimental support for DX12 steam overlay. It crashed the game for me as well. Disabled it and crashing has stopped.
Good to know, thanks. I don't bother reading the Steam patch notes so hadn't noticed that. Worth keeping an eye on.
wow seriously? what happened here? You guys went overboard, everyone here should take it easy.
Dude, you can't say that and then go in to your own rant :p And the 2nd line,
So why do we think Ashes of the Singularity will be THE RTS of 2016 and beyond?
does in fact inherently invite comparison. Frogboy's somewhat dismissive b
I'd forgotten the details about the AI in PA. The young guy behind it, who modded new AI for supcom has a real talent for it. Big into his neural networks, so it really is like a learning computer, very cool. By the way the image at the top is very cool. One day I hope we get the chance to play with the units looking that good, with that much detail, in game. If all the units had that much detail I might have to find a mod to make everything look a little bigger to
