I have to agree, 1.8 is definately not something i'm liking thus far. The amount of habitable planets is drastically cut, and this is not a good thing imo. There were barely 20 habitable plants in a game i just made. The same settings pre 1.8 would have produced a map with 3-4 times that. This is a BAD thing.

If they're not listed under "attack" that means your ally is friends with that race, and refuses to attack them. So you're on your own. Break the alliance with them if you're pissed at them .
Well it's not a bug. Nor is it something that's an accident. So i don't know if fix is the right word.
That's because the portraits are in a different aspect ratio than the comm screen. The game stretches the portraits to fit the comm screen, there's no getting around it.
I can see where that might be a save for low end systems. But i can only speak for me, i have a 64-bit system and 4GB of RAM, so for me 170Mb is practically inconsequential. Considering that the game's memory space is capped at 2GB regardless of system under most circumstances, that 170MB is nearly 10% of the total available. Not so tiny if you look at it that way. Actually i uncapped it <img src="http://image
Where are you noticing the lower resolution thumbnails? Here's a good example right here: Clicking on the quick build list on a planet. See below for image > <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_2 alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" src="http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/8162/sarmy1192217652ti7.th.jpg" onload=ImageResi
The new low-res thumbnails are just... Terrible... Sorry guys! But i'd much rather the 128x128 versions.
Yes, the new low-res icons are just terrible...
Artificial slave center doesn't provide an empire wide bonus AFAIK, it's planet specific.
Something like this usually suits me well...
Disabling Mixed Vertex Processing Mode in the Video Options screen should solve your problem. Common problem with nVida Cards. It works... trust me...

Sorry i didn't get back sooner, but Kryo and the others have said everything i could have. You need a better image editor than paint .
global settings always override software settings.
Set black as the transparent color. Close, but no cigar. You need to select the black background in an image editor, and set that to the image's alpha layer (It's the alpha layer that determines transparancy), OR you need to select the triangle, and completely delete the black background and set it on a transparent background. Either way you're essentially doing the same thing.
Seriously, that's the best manufacturing planet you've ever seen??? These shots are all planets in my collective from my most recent game: <br/
I'm against the idea. It's placing too many "fakey game" limits on things. Having it be a UP issue is one thing, but a game rule?? In my view that's crossing a line. Sneak attacks happen, it's a valid tactic, it's real, and i think if it's changed, it will make the game fakey. At least to me, in fact i outright hate the idea. I know there's a need to balance realism with game play, GC2 being a game after all. But the key is balance, and i think if this is implemented, it's crossing a line
Are you sure there's a new planet lights image? I didn't get one in the update. Still the same old image.
Sounds really great, this feature in particular is going to add a lot of flavor to the game. It's really going to give the game an even bigger sense of scale, very "galactic" . That and the even larger maps are really going to make for a truely interesting game. A player may not even explore the entire galaxy before a game is over, very realistic. TA is looking really exciting to me <img src="
Hey guys, Kryo . Any news on the beta testing of TA? Is there going to be any open beta testing this time around? Or is that a "wait for the next press release" kind of question still?
Oh, they released a new patch today... Did it fix anything? Nope... Game still crashes all over the place, every 10 min or so. I'm about done with SC at this rate.
Of course you don't need to install a previous update. The most recent patch will always contain the advances made in the previous versions.
still no patch from them *sigh*....
As Kryo said, they're a little too "strong" for my tastes in the screnshots... That's one of the reasons i didn't make High-Res nebulas for my High-Res mod. Well, in fact, i actually did. But i cut them long before i released them mod, because while they looked visually great, once you actually played with them in the game, they became... Annoying. Since the game layers the nabula graphics in an attempt to "peice together" unique nebulas, using actual nebula graphics looked bad, i
