Yeah, I haven't worked on it since the last major release, and, for the time being, I don't have any plans to continue with it. You can go the the forum mentioned earlier in this thread if you're interested in learning more about the mod and any possible future development.
You may have missed these comments in the normal Jedi Republic threads.
No, I didn't know anything about that. I haven't really read any thread that I didn't set to watch a long long time ago. I'd be happy to join your empire or whatever they're called and contribute my measly score for what they're worth, but I don't really play gciv for the time being (and haven't for a while.) But if you are interested in roleplaying SW, you can probably find me in Galaxies on the s
I'm astonished that you've played that many hours already. You are one sick individual, my friend ;) Your review was excellent, by the way. I don't know if too many people in this forum are playing the game, but I, for one, enjoyed reading it. Here's my comments on what you said: First of all, I'm not too surprised at the post 150 hour mark :), crafting monotony you described. tbh, I never understood the draw of being a crafter, and doing what you did, i.e. power-leveling a crafter
As a newbie to the game and this board/forum, I was just wondering how mods work. Is there some sort of mod launcher out there as with Space Empires IV, or do you just load it as you would load a saved game? Can't wait to try out this Star Wars mod.
Nobody has made a mod launcher for GCiv, so you really have to keep track of what you install yourself. Fortunately, most mods out there right now are events, so they do not overwrite any files. Usually they just add new dat
There was a problem with the counter, so I just eliminated it. The link should work now.
Thanks, Praetorian. btw, I don't think there's a way you can give those kind of bonuses.
Just thought this might be of interest to some people:
This week's newsletter special features a PC game of galactic conquest rated as "great" by Gamespot. "Galactic Civilizations' strong AI, robust diplomacy, and variety of strategic options make it an outstanding turn-based strategy game," declared Gamespot in its review. Get it for $5 off this week only when you follow the link below: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/ads/promos/newsletterspecial/?site=
Dark Rain, I'm curious. Is there any progress on the sprite format or the library editor?
Strange. I was under the impression that exactly the opposite situation existed, i.e. I though that both the Drengin and the Arceans had fixed tech trees (based on a couple of good players from the metaverse) and the rest of them used more generalized selection algorithms. This would be consistent with the fact that the Drengin and the Arceans are usually the toughtest races, since they are the ones that incorporate "expert" knowledge. btw, there's an AI value in the tech tree data
oh, and somebody also made a save game editor around the same time. I don't think it lets you edit much though, just money and a few other things.
Both of your request can easily be done. In fact, there was a trainer that someone wrote when the game first came out that will give you unlimited points at game creation and add money any time you need it. I've never used it and I don't know if it still works with current versions, but you could try it. Try doing a search on "galactic trainer imsdox".
I love Stargate, but I think it would be a very poor fit with GCiv. What would be perfect, though, is a Neverwinter Nights conversion. You could essentially create a persistent Stargate world by setting up a NWN server, which would contain a "central hub" type of map that would be equivalent to Earth/Cheyanne Mountain. The portals, which are often used to link to separate neverwinter nights modules/maps, would of course be equivalent to a stargate linking to other planets. Anytime
I have pretty much seen what you have Miguel, but I think there's a ton of stuff that we haven't even begun to be exposed to: advance AI "pets" (not just animals, but rebel soldier or stormtroopers that will fight with you, droids (that can track your enemies, assist in fights (like AT-STs), provide medical support, construct things), bounty hunter missions, dynamic battlegrounds that actually has an impact on the game, i.e. one side can win and it's no longer a battleground, and as I understan
I know it sounds like a lot, but it really depends on how much you play the game. For better or worse, these types of games are really easy to get addicted to, so it's fairly common for a person to put 20+ hours per week. If you're one of those people, $3.50/week for that that many hours of entertainment isn't really that exorbitant. I do agree about the upfront cost of the game. It's too high something that you have to pay a monthly fee for. And I can only shake my head at the peop
Interesting. It looks like the strongest opinions come from people who haven't even played the game. :notsure: [Message Edited]
You're saying that it won't be released where you live until Christmas? So where is that? I'm just curious b/c I thought I saw something about several servers being designated as regional-specific, for e.g.,a "recommended european server."
KG, I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to copy your mini-review here, since the 20+ pages in the anzac thread might cause some people to not to look.
#477 by Citizen Kiwi Greg - 6/30/2003 10:26:34 AM Hey SW Yeah I spent all weekend playing SWG (and I mean *all* weekend). there were some initial log in problems and also some issues with the UI not remaining stable between log in and log (or crash) out. The graphics are awesome, I mean really
Yeah, it's been a while for me to. I'm not familiar enough with the game to answer your question, but I think their experience system avoids some of that camping problem. To put it in precise mathematical terms, there are oodles of different experience types that you need to get to pursue the kazillion different skills and job occupations. For example, there's blaster experience, rifle experience, wilderness survival experience, dancing experience, trading experience, etc. So, I don't think
I may be a bit cantankerous about this stuff lately, but "skeptical observations" is not how I read your messages.
I think it WAS the starwas mod, as I uninstalled it and haven't had the problem since. Hmph...
Well, whatever. This is getting blown out of proportion. Good luck, and I hope you find your problem...
For the millionth time, the star wars mod does not alter anything that changes game mechanics. Any changes you noticed after uninstalling are just coincidence. I'd suggest finding a logical explanation rather than just blaming the gremlins for it. If you're really having a problem with trade routes, zip up a save and I'm sure tech support and/or some other users would be willing to take a look at it.
Yeah, I've been playing it. So far, I'm extremely impressed. I can't say much about it though, since I'm still fairly clueless. There's just so much breadth and complexity to it. The only other MMORPG I've played before was Asheron's Call 1, which I really liked. This game makes AC look like a Commodore 64 game. btw, if you're expecting a jedi fest, you're not going to find it. The designers have said that they don't expect people to figure out and fulfill all the necessary requir
You may want to try reading the rest of the thread.
Nah, I think both of them have a policy of live and let live as long as they don't have a directly competing product. And the last time they pursued even that kind of conflict was a long, long time ago ;) Anyway, they haven't set up a forum for the trek stuff yet. Here is a link to their current discussion, which is at the the same site, one level up under ship mods: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/viewtopic.php?t=147 turgotz has got some really nice looking tng models
Go to the url in the last message I posted. There's a forum there with some people who are getting started on a trek mod. I'm sure they'd welcome your help. The encoder can be found in the mod forum in one (actually two I think) of the sticky topics from CariElf. You can go to the mod forum by clicking on the button on the left (or the top if you're using stardock central.)
No problem. I hope you and Zathras, er I mean Bobo, both enjoy it :) and, btw, you should definitely get the new version. It includes a lot of stuff the old one doesn't. [Message Edited]
