Looking forward to you returning to the Fellowship, Matthew. I wouldn't worry too much about discouraging the SpecForces, they cover ground so rapidly with their many active overlords and bio weapons. :D Some points on speeding up the game. To obtain max 60k score on Maso Gigantic, there is no need to research all the techs - I believe halfway on the final stretch of techs should about do it. I also don't see much of a difference in score between trading for the techs and rese

Rex, An important point to remember is that morale at 100% gives you a base pop growth rate of 6% while morale at 54-99% gives you a 3% growth. So one percentage point can double or halve your growth rate. The AI is good at keeping morale at 100% for the increased growth. There are certain military techs that are overvalued by the AI so it's not cheap to trade for them. Conversely, they are worth alot if you trade them to others. Some examples - Defenders, Interstellar Tactics,

Congrats on overtaking GROSS, Evils. Just 3 months back, I betted successfully that the Evil empire would take less than 2 weeks to double from 3 to 6 overlords. Now you have 16. The key to a high-ranked empire is the ability to recruit. Let's see if you Evils have the ability to assimilate or thwart the new pretender to the Evil throne. :) Hairy, an Emperor can delete himself out of the Senate and out of the Empire. The empire can still continue but without anyone who can acce

Welcome to the Fellowship, John! :CONGRAT: Singapore has a 2 1/2 years mandatory military service for all male citizens. I'm a Lieutenant in an Air Defense Battalion, operating the Mistral surface-to-air missile. Good to see that you are active in the forums already. Beyond strategy discussions, we are also committed to contributing to the forum discussions and the game. What other TBS/RTS games were you playing before you picked up Galciv 2 weeks ago? I'm cu

rubberduckyzz, Maxtipherous is correct. Once you offer the AI a gift in one turn, they will refuse subsequent gifts even though they may say "Ah, more presents." To get the gift through, you need to get something from the AI in return (such as 1bc or 1IP). ~SDC~

Sirian, As you and others have shown, it is possible to accumulate large amounts of cash in your treasury through tech sales and/or trade, especially on smaller maps where there are less planets consuming the cash and with income from the above not relative to map size. Agree that Stardock should perhaps up their money flag quantum considering that people are legitimately tripping this. Since Diplomacy was buffed up several versions back, it has indeed become the power

Take care of yourself and family, Theoden. vincible, The new features that are planned, especially those for the Metaverse, do look exciting. Those would go a long way in retaining the attention and participation of the Galciv community and also help to set the stage for Galciv 2.
And by then, the Metaverse should be powerful enough to combine the best elements of a MMRPG with a multiplayer strategy game. You'll see.
:) ~SDC~

By focusing on my sliders on my economy and buying AI ships to boost my military rating, I've not been threatened much in my games. Choosing pop growth picks also help to boost economy faster. Remember that your overall might is a factor of both your economic and military rating. With a good start, any AI can become "Strongest" in both economy and military very quickly and start to throw threats around. The best way to weaken their ratings is to get it into wars. If that Strong

The AIs mostly follow a rather narrow tech research path (except of the Arceans who is supposed to have a dynamic path). So go for those techs that they don't usually research early (like Reinforced Hulls, Improv. Env Control, etc). Alternatively, look for techs that are possessed by some but not all of the AI. Buy those techs over 100 turns and sell/gift them to those who don't have them. ~SDC~

I believe the money flag is the key reason for most of the trips. The exact trigger conditions are not made known explicitly probably to make it harder for those who are looking to cheat. For the rest of us, just remember not to accumulate large amounts of cash in your treasury for the first few years of the game. I sell techs alot for cash too but I never seem to accumulate much cash in the early game running at 100%. Probably because I build fusion power plants/manuf
I think if the other AI's were set to idiot (or whatever) instead of being turned off the Ultra-AI would expand faster by conquest than it would by colonizing.
The AI is much much better at colonizing then invading so it would expand faster on its own.
But then, FotR tolerates Pontius (the same guy who openly suggested I was a liar, in another thread, for reporting a game experience he had never seen) calling us pipsqueaks? That too is bad form.
I can't speak for the others in the Fellowship but most of the time, I ignore/skip over his posts. Pontius crossed the line with me too many times.
I'm sorry to see a lot of the Fellowship taking a break from the game. Hard to understand, when I've had it for les
