Well written document. Whats Stardocks ticker. [e digicons]:w00t:[/e] Would love to have a good Stardock strategy game for my Android phone. The Apple airplay stuff was interesting. Believe Intel is also pushing some similar standard.
Hmmm, i think it is too early to show FE to the press, because many features are missing (complete faction differentiation, useful diplomacy, good AI) or need to be balanced (initiative, dodge, many spells, many talents). If you want a preview with depth that says more than "FE looks interesting" i would wait until you have completed and tested beta 3, because it sounds like you are releasing beta 3 too fast.
He wi

The building placement mechanic doesn't even have a real reason to exist. yes, we mention it again and again. If the building playing mechanic doesn't have any influence on gameplay it should be removed. It's on level with a hat costumization program.
I build cities in a directio

The AI shouldn't build cities on weak tiles. A 2 in wheat is too low. The AI has explorers but they aren't off on their own scouting. They get lumped in armies with other units. Pioneers also get lumped in armies with other units. They are so cheap to build there is no point to this. The AI needs to get armies built with a movement of 3 and used for leveling champions. Then if they luck into something that boosts champion movement to 4, units on horse with the

This bug has been present on previous versions too. Each time I start the game a dialog comes up saying, "Your desktop resolution is currently set to 640 x 480. The minimum supported...". My desktop is 2560 x 1600, a 30 inch LCD. After I say OK to the dialog, everything plays fine. So this isn't a problem really, just a reoccurring irritation.
In the balance category, it's a little strange that there is no running/hiding from archers, and thus no strategy involved in the tactical battles involving archers. The infinite range and shooting over hills without a penalty makes battles frustrating and unfun. I then made a game where I just massed archers and plinked enemy units apart with slow/haste and pretty much wrecked everything. Satisfying I guess,

Some interesting points. On my current .86, large map, challenging game I have my cities doing improvements, army units, explorers and lots of pioneers. Later in the game, some might be idle for periods until research provides something to build. Early game, I always have things for my cities to build. Interesting building choices? I find it interesting to optimize what I can do with each of my cities. The buildings are just my different options. I will say that mainte

I voted computer AI as the highest priority. Other things are important too. However, if the AI plays poorly then why play the game at all? Its not multi-player, I'm playing against the AI. No challenge to it, no fun. Having to give the AI multiple unfair advantages to make it competitive, doesn't do the job for me. Civ 5 has disappointingly weak AI. I'm still bitter.

I'd suggest lowering the prices on all shop/found loot. Its out of proportion to the taxes that come in from your cities. To make champions more than targets sitting on the map. How about instead have them wander around the map with small armies. Or have high level ones offer themselves up for competitive bidding to all the factions. In this way they wouldn't have to be on the map. Not sure this helps though, I always seem to have more money than most of the AIs.

Wonder if maybe the AI isn't getting their champions leveled up and/or failing to hire higher level champions. This would explain why your not getting hit by high level spells. In my current .86 game, I've seen the AI have more than one champion in an army. Also 3 champions together with no other units in an army. This is not how you level them up.

I would expect maybe six months development to get it to say 70-80 metacritic level. If the release date was planned for the end of the year I would feel confident that we will get a good game. Of course champions can become much more deadly with better weapons. So the AI should be helped. Like the encounter and multiple-level encounters that are being suggested. Also the like the idea of lairs spawning weaker wandering monsters. I'd also like to suggest lowering the buy and sell prices for weapons and armor. I can run with no or low taxes the entire game because of how much magical loot sells for. Tax income from multiple cities full of people sho

The escape combat spell could also use some improvement. You escape combat but are then located in the same square as the monster you just attacked. Not a very good escape.
Make the Govern City ledger state that cities are out of food instead of # of tuns in the billions to reach the next city level. Also, a pop up to state that the city can not grow anymore do to lack of food would be nice.
That window has a column showing city growth rate. If thats showing zero then your out of food. :) As the other guy said, what would be really useful would be to add the display
