Lots of these changes sound neat. I don't the game design requiring you to have a spellbook and matching shard. Sure you could create your caster so that they have all of the elemental books but that takes a big chunk of your points. In the last beta, researching magic also gave me books I was missing. But you're looking at a large amount of research until you luck into the book that matches a shard you own. Seems too risky to count on winning via magic. Perhaps Beta 5 improve

Being able to easily switch at game load who is controlling an empire or kingdom is key for large games. This would allow the game to continue if your 10th person couldn't participate, you could switch them to AI control. If someone got a bad start or gets knocked out early, you could switch them to control what had been an AI.

True, it would have been useful if stability of the betas HAD been much better. Hard to test much or get a feel for the game if your running out of memory after 30 turns.

Cool! A dungeon mini-map within the game. Really hope the tactical battles are fun. Beta 3A was a little boring. It took so many turns to build stuff and the AI wasn't doing very much in the game I played. Not a mod creator myself but shouldn't this feature greatly help sales? Making mod creation and distribution/installation easy should increase the sales life and as more quality mods become available, the product's value to the customer keeps increasing. It would be

Valar is a typo probably. Thinking he meant "Book of Valor". The cast once spell limitation is kinda a downer. Wish there was some other method to allow for powerful, neat spells but not have them ruin the game. Perhaps have these types of spell as a one-use artifact found in game through a quest or something.
