I'd rather have better AI overall than islands in oceans. 2 work weeks spent on AI development to get it to colonize an island sounds like a long time.

The excellent and frequent communication should be prevent anybody from getting the wrong idea. I'd also bet your audience for this game is on the more mature side.
What happens when a empire conquers a kingdom city? And vice-versa?
I couldn't get this latest version at first because it said Impulse had to update first. It took 3 restarts of Impulse before it started updating itself. Game update wasn't a problem then. The game seems much more stable. The quests can be completed and give rewards. I did eventually run out of memory at turn 126 but that is further than I've reached before. Autosave loaded successfully too.
Global resources! A very nice addition. Since these games could last SOOooo many turns, anything that reduces the tedium.
A lot of people are giving a unit name and an quote for that unit. If you read Frogboy's post closely, the game is going to suggest a random unit name and a random quote. I'd suggest the game have a button we can hit to see a pick list of unit names and their quotes. Random isn't sounding too useful.
What the heck is a rigma? Gildars = Gilders = Old timey coin. Gildars works for me. If the name isn't intuitive then people will just call it gold or something.
Simultaneous turns but allow actions or at least looking at things after you submit your turn. Don't make people sit and not be able to do anything while waiting for other people. I like the time bank idea a lot! Connecting gold to time taken during a turn? Umm, ew. [e digicons]:puke:[/e] Its obvious that most people can't spend hours and hours, day after day on one online game. So some kind of quick 2-3 hours and finished small map might attract more players.<
Aww. But the new info got me anticipating. [e digicons]:hugme:[/e]
I really like being able to research spell books and being able to find them on the game map. So you can skimp on them when you create your sovereign but then regret it later. [e digicons]\o/[/e]
No background in advertising but wouldn't you want to convey more of what the game is about? The box front only conveys "fantasy" to me. Oh well, its good enough I guess.
Need more details! Can't wait to see spell research and casting in action.
As you guys encounter this, can you be keeping a mental log of what 'big actions' you've done (Signed treaties, killed off a player, etc)? Also (and I beleive there should be a popup that reminds you of this) but until the game is about 90% gameplay feature complete, you probbaly won't be able to load games from previous versions sorry.
I wasn't trying to load a save from a previous version. Its a
One save loads but then I can't end the turn and proceed with it. A later save from that game CTDs everytime I try to load it.
This is what's confusing me. I'd thought quests were something we would do, but the Journal implies that it would be NPCs doing these things. But now Frogboy's latest post implies it would be us doing it. So confused... They are quests all players would be doing. You, as the human player. AI players. And NPCs.
Guys the AI has to be able to do these ques
Anything but kill 10 random mobs quests. Or, collect a dozen daffodil quests. I've come up with: Defend a neutral town from the army of Black Death. Defend a shrine from the army of Random Pillagers. Resurrect the town of Ancienty which was destroyed a thousand years ago.
Too bad Elemental won't have map "Planes", more than one level to a map.
History Farmer. (provides food production bonus in cities he’s in, gains access to unique tech) Weaknesses (give points back to pick more items) Clumsy. Is hindered in battle doing poor damage. Oaf. Difficulty arranging marriages.
I only got to around 50 - 100 turns before Vista x64 closed the program due to out of memory.
I'm running Vista x64. This latest version is very unstable for me. Numerous crashes. I'm not even getting close to finishing a game.
Experienced the same crash on click on Veteran troops research topic.
I don't see how you work around people who started early in the MMORTS versus people who started late. I was heavily playing http://www.imperion.org/ until I ran into their solution to the high level player versus newb problem. In Imperion you couldn't take someone else's starting planet. If another player colonized a second planet, then you could temporarily occupy one of their planets for some weak rewards. No c
The map needs a ton of work! I'm not looking for a job right now but I have an online portfolio that is a pretty good example of what you can do with maps and modding Civ4. http://members.socket.net/~ricardo/ XML tags aren't enough, we need to be able to place any old thing on the map, any way we want, in any order we want, via python. In Civ4, different mods need completely different maps. Here are some thi
Forgive me but I don't see how these attributes will produce correctly placed tiles around a river. For that matter what will produce a mountain range composed of several types of tiles? Probably things will be further refined as code is written.
