AFAIK no. But i'm interested because i saw this suggestion several times. But my tests show that it's not affected by PQ. Maybe others tested empire population growth? PopGrowth calculated on a per-planet basis, as in any other game. Or i'm missing something? Also, popgrowth is capped at 200 per turn for each planet. You may look here http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85148 if you are interested. There are some numbers on morale and income. Maybe i'll repeat tests

There is a bad thing with using cheese - it reduces your overall skill. 1) Cheese tactics is a tactics which is ALWAYS efficient in some situation, and there is no efficient alternatives. So, using cheese isn't intelligent action in most cases, because you don't need to make choices (maybe with the exception what cheese to choose, but see (2)). 2) Cheese working in one particular game and/or later paths closing cheese. So it's in-game expirience instead of metagame expirience. Y
That's not all you did. You figured out that it was possible to push to this to the extreme of using this strat to avoid spending hardly anything on research, leaving your econ for military and social spending. *That* is not intuitive.
That's exactly that i did in my 3rd game in Civ3 there i figured that i can't outresearch 7 enemy civilizations with shared research. So i just set all to money and gg (game was at maximum difficulty of course). But there is a bad thing -

To Ralegh Please my nick is Ellestar. You can test it. With planetary morale 100, planet grows by Pop*1.06*(1+PopGrowthBonus) With 54..99, it grows by Pop*1.03*(1+PopGrowthBonus) ~SDC~
Under Frogboy's proposal, every user will have to get out a calculator to decide which scores to flag.
Well idea with flags is just insane. To fsk+ I'm not that good at programming theory, but i suggest that O(n^2) means that 2x number of games means 4x calculations? 1) My method is better because it's always gives maximum score to a player. 2) IMHO you can calculate something like that: That's for second case //N=NumberOFGames-

Then IMHO this way is better: N - number of games Score[i] - array with game scores, sorted in descending order C=Max(5,N*2/3) N (lower or equal) C - old scoring system - Score = (Sum(Score[1]..Score[N])/SQRT(N)) N (more than) C - Score = Max(Sum(Score[1]..Score[C])/SQRT(C),..,Sum(Score[1]..Score[i])/SQRT(i),..,Sum(Score[1]..Score[N])/SQRT(N)) Same result, but automatically. Edit: That the hell with this forum? [Message Edited]
Yes, Brad mentioned putting in a serious pop score turn penalty in 1.04. Seems like your "23k for dummies" wasn't written in vain. I have no issues with giving higher scores for Maso Tiny as compared to Maso Gigantic. Tiny is tougher in my book (starting locations aside).

Well if you die tomorrow Staffa you can still say "I made a difference!!"
I told about it before Staffa. And my speed of milking the score was faster!
Although it

20% taxes may be good at tiny, there you can get all income you need from trade. On gigantic it's hard to get that much from trade. Or it's may be good at the start of the game. Difference between 30% taxes ad 50% taxes - 48 morale. It's slightly less between 20% and 40%. Entertainment Network gives 56 morale. So i'm suggesting to build morale improvement on all planets and set taxes to at least 40%. ~SDC~

1) Best score (in this game) is always the same: conqer everyone, left 1 planet to an enemy, and go for a tech victory. 2) It may be efficient to stop playing a game as long as you are winning already, and better spend this time to increase your skills (starting new game, reading forum, remembering your game - what things you did right and where you was wrong etc.). It will give you a better score on the long run. 3) You can play just for fun. ~SDC~

As i already said, 100 morale is a must at the start. First 3 turns with morale 100 - population will be 1000*(1,06^3)=1000*1.191=1191 First 3 turns with morale 99..54 - population will be 1000*(1,03^3)=1000*1.093=1093 Difference in just 3 turns - 1191/1093-1=8,99% of population of your entire empire. This difference may stay more or less the same for next 100 turns. ~SDC~
#91 by Avatar Frogboy - 5/23/2003 10:00:47 PM I don't think Starcraft is an apt analogy. For one thing, Starcraft has no AI (it's pure script base -- we know, we did the Retribution add-on for it). It is well balanced for multiplayer but that is a totally differnet kind of balancing than what we are discussing here.
Yes, to some extent, but it's good to see why StarCraft can be considered balanced in MP and how to make a game more balanced. Also, Zileas balance sugg

Note - i'm not playing in StarCraft good enough, but i know some players from Russian clan 'Orky' - top players like Asmodey, Ranger, Soul. And my suggestions about StarCraft are for their skill level, not mine, or it's just their suggestions. To Sigma 7
That is not quite true. Starcraft has been reported to have its own skill-based game balance issues, such as the Zergling rush. This requires every player to make preparations for an early game assault, which can be quit
