One would think Bush would be the space candidate. Although I (gasp) agree with Steven, I see controlling the debt as a higher priority than space exploration.

Iirc Bush did not campaign on small government. I think you dodged the main issue of big government, which is that a large plurality of the federal budget is spent on paying the living expenses and medical bills of individuals. It is not as though most of the federal budget goes to roads and schools.
I dunno, were reporters in 1943 asking FDR about his mistakes? I think this is a rather contrived list. Most of Kerry's flip-flops seem more blatant. For instance, did you see the picture of Kerry brandishing a weapon he wanted to ban?
How many democracies has the UN created? We do have active diplomatic relations with most of the Middle East, and we have endorsed the roadmap for peace, which calls for an end to Palestinian terrorism, and the creation of a Palestinian state from land currently occupied by Israel. We are rebuilding Iraq. France has been invited to help, but they don't seem to be interested. How have kidnappings, Iranian incursions, and deaths been "swept unde
I read somewhere that Cheney is donating his deferred payments to charity. I think an important question is, what services were being provided? I doubt Haliburton was selling them weapons.
"I'm here personally to express my anger, as a veteran," Kerry told National Public Radio two months before the 1992 election, "that a president who would stand before this nation in his inaugural address and promise to put Vietnam behind us is now breaking yet another promise and trying to use Vietnam and service in order to get himself re-elected." "That is not an act of leadership, that is an act of shame and cowardice," the Massachusett
Since the handover of sovereignty, Iraq now has the final call on things like Al Sadr. I think it was a mistake to not clear out Fallujah. I don't think letting Al Sadr go was the right call, but at least we have him out of that mosque now. If he acts up again, we should be able to take him out without damaging a holy site.
Saying your vote doesn't count because it doesn't decide the election is silly. Few elections are only decided by one vote. Does that mean that none of the votes cast actually counted?
These agencies have free reign under a cloak of secrecy. No, they have to report what they are doing. Not immediately, but it does have to be reported. For example, last I heard there were 0 searches of library records using the Patriot Act. Apparently, cops in Australia can search your house w
Aren't all the convention speeches vetted before presenting? Probably personally by Rove? I heard the Democrats vetted their speeches (though Sharpton slipped his through) but I haven't heard that the Republicans did that. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb
Any rich person with even a modicum of money sense will spend about 40 percent of their income on taxable items. There is a myth that the rich spend way more money than the poor. The problem is that it's not nearly as high a percentage of overall income. (BTW, if YOU are spending a significant portion of your salary, then get hel
I think that if someone is too lazy to vote, they probably shouldn't be voting.
Xtine, are you saying that you are against showing a man and a woman kissing on TV? I don't feel the need to tell other adults what kind of sex they can have (or who they should marry) So if 3 people wanted to get married, is that ok with you?
I think an interesting question is, how do the freedom's of countries like Australia, the UK, and France stack up to the US (with the Patriot Act). Allows the FBI to obtain individuals' medical, mental health, financial, educational, bankand library records without showing probable cause What a
Churchill finshed wars... George starts them. The comparison to Churchill was that Churchill was called a war-monger prior to Hitler's invasion of Poland.
Hmm, the link doesn't work, try "average rate of taxes" on google.
If IDF troops left the West Bank, there would be no rationale for Palestinian violence... it works both ways...but it remains to be seen who will be the first to give the inch that leads to peace. No, it doesn' t work both ways. A military that is controlled by the government which is accountable to the
If Palestinian violence stopped, there would be no rationale for IDF troops in the West Bank.
Los Angeles was just an example of a well-known third world city with massive slum problems According to figures compiled by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, if Los Angeles County,
My understanding is that the security problems in Iraq are insurgent/terrorist attacks aimed at the Iraqi government, not the various ethnic groups fighting against each other.
1. I don't think that it has been confirmed that they currently can hit the west coast. One reason for attacking Iraq as opposed to N Korea is the judgement that a diplomatic solution to Iraq was not possible. Do you think we should have attacked North Korea? 2. Most of Western Europe and the Middle East yes, but most of the world? Is there widespread anti-US sentiment in Japan, India, or Brazil? 3. Oil prices will probably go higher,
It never ceases to amaze me that people say, "Quit being so greedy and give me some more stuff" without so many words.
Do you think our intervention in Kosovo was absolutely needed? The UN isn't going to do anything about Sudan unless we take the lead. The surplus existed because of tax receipts generated from an unsustainable bubble. Right now, at our current rate of taxation and spending, we have a deficit. In order to get rid of the deficit, we either need to raise taxes or decrease spending. Which do you want to do? If the public doesn't pay for i
DC will never become a state because it would add 2 automatically Democratic Senators.
