One thing about registering with the Dregnin.net. After you register, you need to go to your options and select the receive updates option, or you'll never get the 1.09 upgrade
The 1.09 upgrade is still in beta so it's considered a pre-release version. The option you're talking about is to see the beta/pre-release versions. When the expansion comes out for everyone as 1.1 then everyone will see it.
How do you send a transport to one of your own worlds?
You move it into orbit on that world. The population of that transport get dispersed (evenly?) among the planets in that system. When the transport leaves orbit it will ask how much population to load up.
How can you see how many colonists are on a particular colony ship or transport?
When you select it, it shows the number of million colonists on board at the bottom of the screen in

Obi Wan - I think I would rather use the Jedi Republic icon as my logo on the website. The St. Blasius crest doesn't fit the theme of the empire. Also it makes me look like I think I'm saintly or super religious but that's not why I use the nickname. When you follow my family name backwards eventually it traces to a translation roughly "Follower of St. Blasius" the patron saint of throat ailments. It fits me personally (my whole family would be constantly sneezing and coughing if it

It's hard to tell who they will surrender too. I think the important thing is who that AI is losing to and about to die. Let's say the Acreans are killing the Yor and the Yor are not at war with anyone else. If you are friends with the Yor or you are at war with the Arceans, then the Yor should surrender to you to fight off the enemies the Arceans. If the Yor has no friends and there's no obvious enemy of the Arceans, they will give up to the Arceans. If I'm at war with one race and they do

How fast is your computer and how much memory do you have? This is the reason why the required specs for the game were so high :) I've got a 1.5 Ghz with 512 MB of RAM and I don't have those slow downs on Gigantic maps. Each turn can a while, but thats because of the hundreds of ships moving. Every time you adjust the sliders it makes the change on all of your planets. If you had your planet list showing on the right when you move the slider, you will see the turns left to build change. I
I'm thinking about working on a custom ship design or two. But, there's a lot of files involved; while I can slog my way through the artwork and the text files without real problems, I'm clueless on the rest of it, including putting together an installer so that the files don't have to be manually copied into the correct subdirectories.
Wow! The website is really great! My background is in programming, but I'm stuck doing QA at work since I don't have any commercial expe
Congrats to StBlasius on yet another promotion - to Diplomat! Two promotions in one week...Master Yoda, I recommend that StBlasius be appointed to the Council. His role in the Metaverse is clearly expanding with his scorekeeping programs, etc. and his wisdom would be of much value in matters of state.
I'm honored that you would like me to be in the Council, but I have never had an interest in any title or position in the group. When I joined this empire, it was to liven

I am very impressed that Stardock has not dropped support for GalCiv by now like most companies would have done and started right away on the next game for us to buy. They have spent all of their time and money improving an existing product that is already great. Most gaming companies would be already working hard on a sequel and let the first one sell in the stores and run its course. Don't get me wrong, I would love a GalCiv 2 :) but I love it even better that the game I bought gets bette

Is there a higher maintence fee for ships in orbit than not? I guess I see the point in this by the ships in orbit receiving a bonus, but how much is the maintenance? I typically keep a battleaxe in every system just in case I get into a war in the early game.

I say a mention in some thread of the expansion pack becoming GC 2.0 when it is released to the public. I'm not sure why they don't make it 1.1 since it's not a whole new version, just an update with additional features. GalCiv II is the next game and it probably won't be here for a while. I can't even begin to think of what I want in the next game, since I still want to see the improvements in GalCiv :)

Even with the lucky pick, I still get the Fundamentalist and race growing stronger events almost every game, especially in the huge/gigantic maps. The Fundamentalists may take 1-2 planets of mine initially if I'm evil but never any more unless you have low moral. My current game is a crippling Gigantic (uggg.. no more gigantic for me :) ) and the weaker Arceans got the growing stronger event. They're the only ones left to kill and they're still weaker than me. Neither of these event

I noticed that too, and was wondering about that. My score is the same on the big board as it is by clicking on my name so everybody isn't like that. But I've only submitted scores in 1.05 and 1.09. Maybe there's a problem on the player board with calculating your total score if you've submitted over various versions. Has anyone heard of an explaination about that?

When looking at the calculations, it should be pretty easy to make a simple calculator and maybe throw in a GUI if its not that bad. Is there anything else you would want besides finding your metaverse score? It seems almost not worth it, since you can do that with Excel. The only bonus would be not having to worry about fitting the games into blocks. ~SDC~

I've seen some references to people wanting a simple program to calculate your Metaverse score. I wouldn't mind working on this if there's enough interest in it. It has been a quiet summer and I could use a break from playing GalCiv for a while and do something constructive :) The quickest solution would be an input your scores into a file and the program just reads that file and calculates your score. I guess a DATE SCORE sequential format would be the easiest. For example my sco

Or... I just lost a planet to those supposed Terran friends of mine. Maybe I should smush them into the ground with my superior Dreadnought fleet? Nah... They couldn't possibly flip all of my planets to their side one by one when I've got my huge fleet to protect me and strike fear into my people so they won't defect ;p They could program stuff in there to react to situations like that. I guess that's why cultural victories aren't worth that much.

I guess I should have made the subject of this post: "They should make the AI fight cultural assimilation!" :) I completely agree with the comments. The AIs lack of fighting your influence is what bothers me. If you have a couple of influence resources mined and you build some influence wonders, then all you have to do is hurt turn until you control the galaxy. My question is, if the AI is set to genius do they fight influence better?

I don't know what qualifies you as being a Veteran, but I bought the game when it first came out and registered my account with Stardock. I just never got around to submitting games to the Metaverse until this month. So I don't know... go me :HOT:

You get a military win once all the majors are gone, it doesn't matter how. If you leave Cultural victory on, then you will probably get a culture win before a military win. Too bad its not smart enough to figure out you won by culture and not military :(

While playing GalCiv, I've seen it to be all too easy to flip planets to your side. If a race likes you, then they do nothing when you put party palaces next to their planets. If they hate you, then I'm usually already at war with them anyways. I've haven't tried to assimilate someone who is neutral towards me to see if they react then. Granted the smartest I've put the cpu is Intelligent, but even then they haven't threatened me if they like me. Cheap strategies make it worse like

Count Dooku - I had that happen to me the last game I submitted. I got 5k for the alliance victory, but you are allowed to resubmit a game one additional time. I decided to go for the conquest, so I loaded up the EndGameSave and broke one of my alliances and then won it for 10k. Even after breaking an alliance the race is still friendly with you, so I leave Alliance on just in case I can't beat everyone. I had a game where the Torians and Altarians had killed everyone but me. I gav

I'm sorry I think I must have confused you even more. It looks like you're talking about www.stardock.com. You have to download an application called Stardock Central to your computer. Here is the link... http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentral102a.exe After you install this program, when you run it you can download patches/updates including the beta expansion following the instructions I gave you.

18 Replies 342 Views

First thing you have to do is register your Drengin subscription with Stardock Central. Under Tools choose Register Products. Under Drengin.net tab choose Drengin.net Subscription from the pulldown menu and then type in your Drengin serial number and press Update. Next under View choose Show Pre-release Versions. Then have fun downloading the expansion pack :D ~SDC~
