Once launch a new game with a race using the custom ship style, the game stays at the "Buiding map" stage almost forever. That's my understanding anyway.
I also doubt that we'll see any resurgence; most of the people who would've formed the core of such a community have largely drifted away now.
This is exactly what I fear. I think you might be right. At this point, I'm thinking it will only be a small cohort of obsessives rather than the large, vibrant community that could have been.
I just want to make it clear that I'm not criticizing anyone on the forums - I just really feel like Stardock has made it clear in the early going that modding support is not a priority and I think that that has had a discouraging effect on the modding community. There are some great mods on here but I've noticed that new mods and even updates of existing mods has slowed to a trickle. Stardock has been one of my favorite companies - not just developers, favorite companies - fo
Mine are mostly institutional and diplomatic in nature as that is my favorite part of the game. 1) Bring back internal politics (I loved the parliamentary type elections of GalCiv2) 2) Implement a treaty where minor races join your empire (and don't have it tied to an age of victory tech). 3) Failing that, have some sort of bonus associated with allying with minor races. Right now they're alright trade partners and exploitable for money/tech but otherwise they
Also, as an obsessed BOTF fan who has been trying to get a Star Trek mod off the ground exactly because BOTF is my favorite game of all time - saying BOTF is a better game is absolutely nuts. There are ENORMOUS problems with the AI (extremely warlike even when playing the Federation), micro-management, game crashes, bugs and tactical combat. Don't get me wrong, I still love that game and I think there are things that up the replayability like the option to start from different moments of
So, the designer has an option to save a selected group of parts as a single part. It was my understanding that this was the best way to change a ship's hull size. However, whenever I try to do this, the newly created part does not include many of the pieces that I tried to group. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know what to do about it.
To speak to the OPs point though, customization options would mean both you and he/she could enjoy the DLC pack for what you want it to be.
I love your ideas. I would really like to see the implementation of a treaty that would allow minor races to join your society - there's tooltips and text in game implying that they meant to include it. I don't know if the fact that you don't have this ability is a bug, a feature they decided to remove at the last minute or a feature they intended to include but forgot to.
Hello everyone, I'm trying to create a shipset for the Dominion using ships I've downloaded from the Workshop (by the way, Omnibus, if you're reading this, great work!). Anyway, I download the designs, open them in the ship editor while playing as the Iconians and save them as templates. Each template is saved as the name I give it, plus a bunch of alpha-numeric nonsense operators. I delete the alpha-numeric nonsense at the end, compile it all into a mod folder and try to play as
Has anyone had the experience of a game never loading after creating a custom shipstyle? I've been watching a spinning galaxy for about 40 minutes.
Hi everyone, While I know there is a Federation Mod floating around, I was wondering if anyone had actually compiled a shipset for any other Star Trek races using either ship designs from the Workshop or their own designs. I'm going to start trying to compile some shipsets today but I don't want to spin my wheels if someone else has already done the work. From what I can see on the workshop there are enough designs to sustain the following races, mostly from airmaster with som
"Galciv2 (Star Trek vs Star Wars) has been my 4x game of choice for years and I still play it." How, I always had data-leak problems so the game would crash after 50 or so turns. Can you share your files?
I was wondering myself about those "blank" sets and the scroll button issue. I know you've sort of addressed this before but why are the blank sets in the game and what does it do to gameplay if we remove them?
I really don't care very much what the challenge is on their end to make it happen. They promised it, it's incumbent them to make it happen. This isn't a ridiculous request and I won't be made to feel like it is.
Ok, we're now past 1.3 and the dev streams have been very non-commital "that'll be in 1.2," "that'll be in 1.3." This is a sandbox game where the big selling point is scale and modability. Well, having a choke point where we can't easily install and uninstall new buildings, new shipsets, (even new colors), is really get tiresome and might have already killed any kind of large-scale modding community before it even got started. The number of new mods has slowed to a trickle and
Can you expand on what you mean by threat and fortitude? Is that weapon strength and shield/armor strength respectively?
Bump - I don't understand how assimilation treaties are supposed to work either.
Worked! Thank you!
I followed the instructions above but the game is not updating. Is anyone having this problem? As far as I can tell it won't even download.
Trying to load an insane map with about 20 AI. I've been playing about five hours and I'm only about 75 turns in. There was no noticeable slowdown at the time I saved the game but the map will not load even after 20-25 minutes. Tried an older auto save, same deal. <img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAqwAAADwCAIAAABKc6HCAAAgAElEQVR4nO2d2YGjvBJGSWqIR9H8BEMuzuDm4BDuAyDVJiG8dNutcx5mbNBSEm7qUwm7pjsAAAAMyfTbBgAAAMDvgAgAAAAYFEQAAADAoCACAAAABuU7RcCap
Yeah. Soooooo, what happened?
I think the idea of using a slide to guide your influence to expand borders OR build ideology or a mixture of the two makes sense. I don't totally understand why influence is an inherently large-empire strategy especially if culturally powerful planets could build ideology points in lieu of expanding borders.
