The last word on this topic I forgot to mention. The biggest reason Atari computers, Commodore, and Amiga fell by the way side is due to EXTREME pirating of the software. Those computers were pirated more then any other in history. That is why today I never make copies of games, I always purchase them. Watching a good computer line die because no companies would make software for it, not even business software. It was pirated on a Hugh scale as well. It really taught me a big lesson. Ok nuff, I

FATAL CRASH playing on a gigantic galactic map. For some reason it will not keep going, I upgrade a starbase and right afterward it crashes. If I choose not to upgrade the SB it still crashes without showing anything as to the reason why. This is a real bummer my first Gigantic game, that was going extremely well bombs to where I cannot recover. :sniff!: With 1.03 I have noticed some rather odd things. Whenever I reload after I quit, the amount of time (turns) it takes to reach the nex

I have tried this one myself and I do not see what it does different. I would like to know the real story behind this one, percentage really that much or high for discoveries? Thanks. ~SDC~

I sure agree being a mod lover myself. My website will hopefully have one in a short time for GC. It would be nice if stardock could come up with a way to allow modded games to be posted on a different metaverse. Until they do something CDG will take the lead for the Hall of Fame. Covering as many stats as possible, and allow the creation of Empires if it goes well as we plan. GC forums: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/ I knopw I another shameless plug for my site, we just opened about 10

Hey thanks for the detailed advice. I am having a really good game on gigantic map. I am almost saintly, not quite. 84 is close though. I did notice that right after I bought technology from the Drengin and the Yor Collective my popularity rating went down one notch. I have used some of your advice without finding your excellent advice here. I am very close with the Torians and Altarians. Altarians of course are Saintly, and Torians are good like I am. Torians are the 2nd power in the Galaxy. <

For what it is worth, CDG will be creating a Galactic Civ Hall of Fame exclusively for modded games. We may also include regular game postings as well, maybe list the scores as modded and unmodded games. We may even create Empire names for accumulating scores much the same (no where as good of course) as the Metaverse does. We will also hold gaming competitions to determine who really is the best player in the world. :d We do this for the modding community mainly, not in no way to compete with

We are looking for some people to join our quest to the top 10 spot. We represent all of the modders out there, we have no set agenda for our morality. We do intend to stomp all the evil scum out there though. :p I am not saying we are all do gooders, but we are going to teach certain Empires a Lesson! The ones who are just talking large, really only in the top 20 because they have been playing longer then most. LOL Elucidus is the leader of our Empire come join the modders paradise web

Atari was once a great company and produced the game industry as we know it. My first computer was an Atari 400 with 16k of RAM, flat membrane keyboard. I have always thought the Atari computer was the best ever made. They were known for much more then pong. Not to mention the Arade division never fully disolved. There are many Atari websites that has the information on all of this topic. I do agree that IG changing their name to Atari is silly. They are a lousy company IMHO and Atari at one ti

My website has created an Empire I have submitted without any problems. I had mods installed before that is why it did not follow through I hear. I am working on game 2 without mods. It is too bad because I like too add certain mods to the game. I hope to start our own Hall of Fame at CDG for games that have been modded. Babbled enough. :p ~SDC~

The other nifty thing about the metaverse is the AI download the data to become better players. I also like the idea of Empires. Empires competing on a world scale, in our case we see several other websites that we are friends with. Everyone likes a little competition even though in a way it is not balanced. At CDG we are going to start the Galactic Civ Hall of Fame. This will be for modded games only. Just an idea we had for people who love to mod games and play them. High scores really

I will be able to here sometime this weekend. My partner is out of town on military leave. He returns this weekend with all his work. He has been working on some events, no videos just images. I will get more specific in the e-mail I send you. Thanks very much for offering. :) ~SDC~

Only if you were making money off it would it be a problem. Otherwise there is not a problem. I used to be a beta tester for Firaxis, I helped a team of mod designers make mods for the expansion pack as well as test patches. They told us that because they are selling the XP no copyrighted material could be included. I would love to see that if you do, and I was thinking of adding the Aliens or one of them as well. I used to love SMAC/SMACX was hoping for a sequel but GC is better in many ways.

I think it is 250x180 256 color 8 bit. I am working with my friend on a mod that we will need some help with somethings. Mainly changing all of the Race leader pictures slightly. Need some new pictures for some events we made. Let me know if your interested. :) ~SDC~

Many of the mods sent to the library are not being posted. I hear some are being rejected due to possible copyright infringements not positive on this. When you are modding a game a private forum works out nice. Especially with a large project where many things are changed throughout the game. This means you need testers, and you would not really want someone taking your ideas. A private forums eliminates all of that. We create several forums for the modder (any they want actually) if you revie

I understand where you are coming from. I agree with you now that I do. You make some valid statements and it does seem with this version of GC it is limited for modding purposes in some respects. You may have noticed my messages regarding our website. We are the only website to my knowledge that is around to fully 100% support mod designers/creators. We provide free forums for mod makers of all games that they want to support. We have the best success with civ3. If you are interested in

Hmmm I had an AMD 1 gig machine on a geforce 4 vid card % 512 MB ram. The game was super slow as hell between turns, saving, loading, etc. I now have a brand new P4 with a new released gigabyte motherboard 2.53 (capable of hyperthreading when it is available). The game loads super fast now, no pause between turns or any issues at all. It is amazing too see actually if performance is an issue uprgade. :D I guess the amount of data being crunched requires a lot of power. :d ~SDC~

Hey my buddy and I are doing the same thing. Guess we are not the only ones who are making a moo3 mod. Well we are making a full blown mod not sure if you are or just replacing the music. Here is our Mod forum if you care to share ideas or whatever. We just created this forum last week. Only 6-7 GC players so far at CDG most are dedicated civ players. :D http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/viewforum.php?f=13 Here is the link if anyone is interested. ~SDC~

RustyBlade you should not have this problem in a day or two I will have your new forums all setup. The users do not need to apply for a CDG membership to download your work. They will need to join if they want to post messages or be involved in any website contests that we hold during the summer months. HawaiiFive-O, excellent points by you and others. I am into just playing the game for my own enjoyment. I do like the metaverse how it works for Empires where everyone's score adds to the Empire. It is interesting also that the AI learns from the best players strategies and adjusts its game play accordingly. I LOVE creating and using mods in any game. That is what makes the game have legs, replayability is very important to me. Variation in a game using mods are very important as well. I really

I hear that it works perfectly for Empires and others posting single scores will have problems. Not sure why this is, I had one game it did not work. All my games after that were modded heavily. I am playing without a mod now, only the Angelina Jolie and Frogboy's certified mod now. :) ~SDC~

I have seen minor races steal from major races before. They set you up to buy it in exchange for a world. I had high level spies in all races. The report indicated if I bought any of those techs war would be declared against me. LOL I have only received tech after invaded a planet. :) ~SDC~

Thanks for the reply. I keep trying different types of strategies, parties, etc. and restarting my games. I had one really good one that I finished but it was using a heavily modded version of GC. My mistake enjoying the mods I guess. ;) Now I am trying to learn the best approach to be on the right path for scoring well and reflect myself in the game. (Peace loving type until you make me mad of course LOL) I can clearly tell your one of those excellent players I was talking about that wen
