"I personally think the actress who plays Jean Grey puts the rest of them to shame..." Famke Jansen. Accept no sustitute... :d

Moonmood: Minor races can colonized planets withing their starting sector, just not outside of it. If there was another planet in its starting system of PQ 15 or higher, it would colonize it. That's probably what you saw. Any ship with the suffix "fortuna" after the name is a ship that was found in an anamoly by a survey ship.
Ok. I see what you mean. Yes. I think there should be more severe repurcusions for attacking an empire you just made peace with. Perhaps instead of a hard coded time limit, maybe your relations with ALL other empire should be PERMANENTLY damaged. After all, if you can't be trusted to keep a peace treaty, even your allies may start to wonder if you can be trusted to keep ANY treaty...
I think CariElf is a she. ;p But I agree that how alliances make peace (or actually DON'T make peace, as it stands) needs fixing.
What about if you sell the ship to another empire? Do they keep their bonuses or become "homeless" and lose them all? If they do lose them I wonder if maybe there is a problem if the AIs are buying them at a price determined by their current stats, unaware that they will be weaker when the deal is finished.
The Phoenix will be made worthwhile when cloaking is implemented (hopefully). :d
They're very easy to mod. Just open up the ship files in the galciv/data folder and change any values you want.
Yeah, the only reason people built corvettes was to keep their military rating high so they don't get attacked early. Now that starfighers do the same thing I don't see any reason to bother with corvettes.
"-fixed ships not saving home colony (should fix missing bonuses problem)" Yes! We can start building shipyards now... :CONGRAT:
That's kinda messed up, IMO. 'Intelligent' has always been the level you play at to see the AI at full intelligence without giving it production cheats. I would be annoyed if we started moving to where we had to play with AI cheats on to get all the goodies.
"Also, all my ships and starbases were reduced in hitpoints from their full allotment that they had when I saved." I don't know about starbases, but any ship bonuses you have from social projects (like shipyards) will disappear when you load a saved game. Hopefully this will get fixed soon, but until then just don't build any +ship improvements, or never exit your game. :notsure:
I think about 90% of this game is undocumented. :notsure: ;)
Pop, you sure about that? The only quote from Brad I have seen on this specifically was in this thread: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=46453 "So I'm re-enabling some of the nastier AI functions for JUST the Arceans right now and only then at Intelligent and higher." Where did he say they it was randomly on or off on intelligent level? Not saying I don't believe you, just that I haven't seen that.
Your intelligence is not adjustable. You were born with it. ;p At genius level the AIs are given small production advantages. They aren't any smarter, they just cheat a little bit. At "Intelligent" level the AIs are as smart they can be already.
You have to be more economically self-reliant in 1.03. It's harder to techwhore, but as other have pointed out, Trade Goods still work. Population has more of an effect on moral, so you do end up building most of those moral-improving projects. 1.03 is super stable on my machine, even with frequent atl-tabs to look at the tech tree. Not a single crash yet.
"Can I build a starbase at the limited of my ships and extend their range? If so, by how much?" Yes you can. The starbase extends their range the same as a colony would.
"Vanir: but when you load the save game, are your invisible ships suddenly visible?" Yes, saving and reloading cleared it up.
"Do the ships appear if you save and reload? What specific ships are disapearing? Debug.err should list what ship models that it can't find." In my case, they do reappear if I save and reload. So far I've only seen it in a new game. The project data window was fine. When in orbit, the 'invisible' ship was represented by a box with nothing but black in it (background?) in the ship list at the right of the screen. By double clicking on it I could get the ship to leav
I always take whatever I get. The AIs don't get to Ctrl-n, so I don't either. Starting in a poor postition often forces me to take gambles I otherwise would not, like early warfare. I enjoy the variety and unpredictability. There are worse fates that losing. Like, being bored. ;p
The frequent updates are one of the best things about GalCiv. Nobody is making you download them.
Game setup option to slow down tech research speed (50% slower, 100% slower, ect.).
"I may be misinterpreting this, but I understand the bonus to be to your empire's ability." I think that it only affects the planet it's built on. Only trade goods, Galactic Wonders and mined resources affect the whole empire AFAIK.
I'm not going to write out a big huge post here, as each of these issues could take up a whole thread on their own. But, the more I play the game, the more I think GalCiv could use some attention paid to the following areas: SPICING UP THE TECH TREE There was a thread on this a while back about the tech tree being boring. I tend to agree with this. The problem is that techs mostly just add numerical bonuses to abilities that you already have, instead of enabling you to
"Wait, there's an Advanced espionage level? At what amount of funding do you get it?" You get it at around 1800 bc. The message you get says something to the effect that you now know everything there is to know about the empire. But, in fact you don't see anything more than what you get at medium level (300 bc). I saw a recent post by someone in the strategy forum that said you cannot steal tech by espionage, only by random event or by invasion. I agree that espi
This has been bugging me for a while. Unless I'm totally missing something (always a possibility), neither the High nor the Advanced espionage levels give you any more information than Medium level. It seems to me that there is no point at all in continuing to spend money on a race after you hit Medium.
