8. Tough for Thompson, but the Aussie girls have swum out of their skins this time around - it's been the best meet ever "away from home" for the Aussie swim team generally. The boys, Thorpe and Hackett aside, actually haven't done so well. Phelps seems a nice guy - he'll be formidable in Bejing. Oh, and I agree with getting rid of the 50m - silly event. Sometimes you get the impression they just put these things in so give away another medal, not for the actual value of the event itself.

Day... Oh I don't know. Today!!! 1. What a 100 metres final. The difference between the gold and 4th was miniscule. It may not have gone to the fastest man, but the best leaner. Either that or the best dressmaker. 2. What a nice sweep in the 400. Of course Gail Devers star crossed Olympic career in the hurdles continued. She got hurt again. I wonder why when Our Girl in the 100m dash got DQ'd for roids, Devers didn't just let it go. She wasn't going to win anyway.
And if you're putting in NASCAR driving - we're going for croc wrestling....
I actually used to do that. We know you Aussies don't want to get beat in your own sport. ;p On to the commentary. Controversy has erupted at the games since last your Galciv reporter filed one. 1. The Americans filed a protest of the Olympic Torch. They claim the fact it's a doobie will encourage kids to break the law. But once they found out it was a cigar and

Day 5. Ok putting the shotput on Olympus was a great stunt. It looks like people actually came to see that. That Cuban Guy sure threw that thing a ton. What? That was a woman you say? Oh I err um On to the next subject. The U.S. women's 4 x 200 relay featured a smashing of the oldest record on the swimming books. No one was all that close. The relay featured another heroic anchor leg by the Aussies who were as far behind as 5th, only to be barely outtouched for the B

Random thoughts day four. As a former swimmer, I guess you can tell where I was focussed tonight. The entire team was gathered at my house to watch. This was the night I didn't look at the net. I didn't want to know the results. THIS is the one we wanted. THIS is the one we needed. We'd been smacked around for years by the fellas from down under. They took OUR race from us last time. And they demolished us in this, their race, last time. And this time, our 4 x 100 fi

Some random day 3 thoughts. Those skimpy beach volleyball uni's would be tons better if the competitors actually had a chest to fill them out. Oh sigh. Americans dominate the sprint Back events. The Medley Relays might just be ours. Walking is the dumbest event. Remember when we were kids and had walking races. It always ended with us all running and accusing each other of cheating first. Actually that's exactly like the Olympics... The real Gymnas

Hi ya wombie. Regarding #3. We have 2 legit losses. 72 was a total hose job. We won the game against the ruskies 3 or 4 times. They then put 4 seconds back on the clock till the Russians won. We never picked up those farce silver medals. The two legit losses were both for the same reason. Stupidity. One because John Thompson was too stupid to put a shooter on the team, and this one because someone else was too stupid to put a shooter on this team. 4. She Sure has. I jus

My random thoughts Day 2. Jenny Jenny!!! How in the world do you lose a body length lead??? You aren't getting gold in your individual events. Should have retired. CROCKER YOU DUMB*****. LAST AFTER THE FIRST LEG!!!! HOW THE HECK DO YOU DO THAT!!!!!???ARRRRRGGGGGGGH Nice. Try swimming next time instead of crying. At least the rest of the relay came back for a bronze. DREAM TEAM!!!!???? SHOOT GO BACK TO COLLEGE PLAYERS. AT LEAST THEY WANT TO BE THERE.

1. Is it me or does the Olympic torch look like a Giant Doobie? 2. Gary Hall is now complaining about Mr. Phelps getting a spot on the relay. Why doesn't that idiot retire? From the total embarrassment of Losing to Popov 8 years ago, to costing our relay a gold on the anchor leg in Sydney, what choke is that big mouth going to pull this year? Oh well. he might not even be on the final 4 by 100 relay team. We can dare to hope. 3. Even many Americans are rooting for what

I thought the best meta was the one where there were several different paths to the top. It had only one slight problem in that Maso, was a bit down on scoring. But now, several strategies have been virtually eliminated by the point cap. I see no value in monkey see, monkey do strategies. It's supposed to be fun. There is no fun in a pedantic, play the game the same way, the same time, rush to the end, strategy. A trained monkey could do the same thing. I am much happier with

Jackey Jackey sneaks up on the D.S.S. Techie. Oh it's the good ship Jackey Jackey, they say. Too late they realize their mistake as Jackey Jackey makes them eat hot phaser, disables their weapons, transporters and engines and proceeds to have at the freightors they were escorting. Woooohooooo!!! More Booze for the stash!!!!
The political party was the same name. He did not hack the GalCiv game. He merely replaced his mod with the game supplied pol part of the same name
Yes but the problem is, he used an external program to mod the party he used playing the game which gave him powerful bonuses that are not within the approved mod parameters of Stardock. And the fact he had to save, use that same external program to "mod the party back" so to speak at the end shows he knew he was doing someth
I agree, too bad they don't back up their actions with facts that can be evaluated. What we have is one person's word against another. Somehow that leaves me with less enthusiasm for either side in this controversy. Both sides should disclose in detail what they have done and how "cheating" was determined. Remember, once before, apparently, a person was accused of cheating by Stardock and they where shown to be incorrect in their assertions.
That indeed is true, but it wa
I think the question is, if Stardock did a MOM2 would enough people pre-order it to justify the considerable risk involved in making a sequel to a 10 year old game. Do people trust Stardock enough to turn out a good game enough to pre-order?
Trust me on this one. Stay true to the concept. Enhance the ai a bit, Update the graphics, update the tech tree a bit, Perhaps have more planes of existance instead of the two, and you'll have a smash hit on your hands and you won't
I don't think the battleship would have much choice. The battleship can only face one direction at once so if it was blazing away at the enemy battleship and turned the fighters would scatter leaving the enemy battleship to pound it to scrap unnoposed. Battleships simply aren't mobile enough to effectivly fight both kinds of ship at once. If their were no battleships to threaten them they could blaze at the fighters with impunity. In the scenario Strek mentioned the battleship would just
The only other game that compares (for me) in replayability was the original civilisation (civilization for some
Oh man the original civ complete with the invinceable phalanx cheat for the ai and the old park the battleship behind city walls trick for the humans. 3 battleships behind city walls in a coastal city can take out all the computor's tanks.
