Hmmm. Those RB's are getting a bit anxious. Get over the identity crisis and get moving, ANZACs. Or at least put that crisis on the back burner and abuse more aliens.
There is no easy way to tell you this, but, I seldom read any of those stories.
One needs to be both brave and foolish to be a writer in this forum: brave enough to try, and foolish enough to keep trying! Don't worry, the writer types here cater to both the "I'm in a hurry, no time for nonsense" type and the folks who are also brave and foolish enough to follow the stories. But the point still stands: simple bumps are not very effective for your evil purpose...

Well, this is the Evil Empire, so it is like 50/50 whether the newbie took himself out or one of the evil senators got an itchy trigger finger. That's one of the big drawbacks I see in these innately evil folks: they are so bad they want to spread it around. Nobody is safe, run! :)
G'day Gerakken, did you used to have a thread where you analysed the metaverse scoring, blocks etc? If so, could you please re-point me at it?
Sorry for the delay. I was trying to wrangle some aliens during most of my free time today. While I do track top empires and difficulty trends in the Metaverse, I never was interested in the exact scoring dynamics. The way I see it, I win 'em how I can when I can and if it is a culture bomb, so be it. I am not going to turn off cult

Oh, come on, Evil Ones! Back when I was bumping the old GROSS recruitment thread, at least I tried to do it in style with an ongoing story every two or three days. These little bumps are unbefitting the future heir apparent to the title of greatest evil empire. Content, evil people. Try to give us some content! The forum regulars and future converts of evil alike will be more interested then. (Just a note from that annoying do-gooder Gerakken, who used to be a pretty evil boy himself ba
Hopefully that will change soon but I have played this game pretty steadily for 6 months, which is a testimony to what a cool game Gal Civ is.
I know that feeling, Theoden and ricbayer. Took a nice game break myself, with a period where I was only putting in about a game a month for three months due to various things. But this is a cool game, my batteries recharged and my workload eased a bit, so I am back to playing pretty fiercely again. A little rest did me a load of g
Fundies??? what are they?
It is an abbreviated form of the Fundamentalists, a group of good-aligned religious extremists who once in a while appear in a game, especially if the human player is evil. Systems belonging to evil empires can flip simultaneously (depends on morale and some randomness) to create a new Fundie empire. If an evil human is playing against standard alignments, this not only hurts the player, but basically annihilates the Drengin and Yor, and could gu

Hmm. If the serial number, e-mail address, and nick name are all identical on both computers when you get to the game submission screen, it should work fine. If double checking all three on both computers turns up no difference, then I am at a loss to explain it with my limited knowledge and I would recommend getting T-Man's attention in this matter. His e-mail is [email protected]

Fry the Drengin, burn the Torians, that is your evil right. Flay the Arcean, spurn the Altarian, make them all hurt and fight. Just spare some Yor, the slackers amongst the major opponents. For they are the source of my engineering components. *By the not-so-poetic Gerakken, the eccentric dabbler in Yor refitting and reprogramming*
Minor races should count against military/alliance victories.
I am thinking about that now. If alliances were really fixed so that humans had to honor them and a human could not enter an alliance with two warring parties on the same or subsequent turn without one or both rejecting the offer (because you are allying with a racial enemy, of course), that would lead to some pretty interesting results. Since majors like to pick on minors a lot, it would basically mean an alli

Um, there are currently only 127 Euros in the empire at the moment, to be exact. I should know. It is my job to know. Are you also dabbling in spells like those Fellowship folks, such as making mirror image or illusionary members? :)

I know Galciv graphics are 2D and nowhere near standard for today's top games, but they do the job. But, then again, for us folks who seen Pong turn into Zork turn into Empire and Civilization (yes, I skipped quite a few evolutions I know), it was never about eye candy. It was about having enough graphics to display what was needed to play the game, and spending too much time analyzing the mechanics of the game situation to really admire too much neat graphics. (OK, I admit the mini-movies in Ci

Gerakken attempts his only off-hand idea to fix the problem: Did you pull up your own player record and click on your player name? That opens up a page with a place to enter the Drengin.net serial # and allows you to link the two serials to the same account. If you did that and already updated SDC with the new #, then I am fresh out of ideas at the moment. All I know is things worked for me after updating SDC and my own player name in my record. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

There are two basic ways to run an offensive: blitzkrieg and slow, crushing pressure. Blitzkrieg has the advantage of extreme speed and surprise. The disadvantages are lack of supply lines and exhaustion, as the relentless assault cannot be maintained for too long. Pressure has the advantages of steady stream of troops and supplies as well as never giving the enemy time to really regroup. Disadvantages to this method include susceptibility to blitzkrieg-style counter-attacks that bust through th
occurs because every time I invade an ai planet, it costs me 2 or 3 thousand bc's.
Just a wild guess, but are these new wars with fresh invasions or a continuation of old wars? Once you go to war with someone, all the trade between them and you are finished. If they are a major trading partner already (especially if it is their mini-freighters coming your way and few of yours going theirs), you might just be shooting your economy in the foot by cutting off a good deal of
see if you cant get this stickied
But first decide which of the two threads to put everything into. Better yet, make a new third thread specifically designed to say it all in the title. Make it something like "Empires represented at galciv.org" and then repost the vital information about the list of pages there. Then we lobby to get that one stickied and then everything goes there instead of bumping two threads at once. Just a little suggestion on my part...

Looks like the Evil Ones have another do-gooder looking in upon them now. Oh my, I thought I was "bad" enough. :D Hey, never-never, since your also in the Evil's thread these days, how about we get together a few of our "good" friends and give the Evil Ones a nice one million point crash when they get there? But it might be a dual use event when the ANZACs crash over the top of them and start moving in on my empire as well...

Not only am I back in action, I even managed to bring back some loot to the ship. It was an eventful morning, so Gerakken is going to ramble on a bit. I travel from my small town of Pullman to an even smaller town, Colfax, to do my civic duty. (Colfax, Washington: speed trap of the Palouse. It's always interesting when the county seat is one of the smallest towns in the county.) Dashing through the fresh-fallen snow, leaving Pullman for a nice country drive, seeing a car and then later

Yes, 30 games and 50,000 personal points. Too bad they never adjusted the rank point spread appropriately to the score inflation... It is only the game limit holding the high rollers back.

I'll be out of action for a bit. Don't know how long. Got called for jury duty and it is a criminal case. I get to report tomorrow and see. So it might just be a few hours out of one day and I am good to go or several days, as I know nothing about the case. (And that is a very good thing for someone in the jury pool. A rare case of ignorance being bliss, and it is more just to the accused.)

Judging from the lack of MWC forum activity, there is either a lot of RL holiday travel or a lot of mad playing. No matter what the exact effect, there had better be a lot of playing if the Euro horde is to be held off for long. War is war, even if one side does not see a reason to fight. The Euros are on a mission. And that mission is to regain their old place as a Meta superpower.
