Yep, it is time to once again catch the up elevator. I've been working on it, one game at a time. We put that Canadian ghost ship behind us in the past, we can do it again. May the hockey gods distract them long enough for us to sneak by once again!

I was thinking about this question myself, Drengin.net or paid expansion. Well, I finally went after Drengin.net because Stardock has kept on supporting Galciv and I have been around long enough to see 8 or 9 updates over the last several months. Sure, there were kinks being worked out along the way and it wasn't all a bed of roses, but they kept trying to make the game better. That is all I could ask in the end. Besides, the other games might be very interesting. (I am also looking forward to P
currently 221259 points behind GROSS and falling
Aye. The dread pirate captain recovered from his illness and is skinnin' Drengin alive like yonder days. I be playing pretty hard me self, much like my own hectic days of yore. There also be a few other hands left tendin' the ship. GROSS is gonna make ye work for it, Evil Ones. Arrr!
GOOD GOD a new ANZAC....
Drink more or charm more. Quite a choice. But if it is recruits you want, there be plenty out there still. Just got to find the right bait. Maybe it requires both. So does one drink until he thinks he is charming enough to attract the new recruits, or charming enough to get the new recruits to get drunk enough to see if they are made of the stuff ANZACs are made of? Time to get into gear and at least defend that #9 spot if the team cannot climb up
Just did the Drengin upgrade myself a day before the deadline, so I can give another testimonial to the fact. The actual linking process was very simple: just pull up your record and click on your player name. Plop in the new number on the field provided, wait a few seconds, and it's done. I admit that I will have to wait until I play and submit another game to see if it fully worked (a little distrust from the old days when the system still had a few kinks), but I am confident things are fine.
The aliens do build everything it seems, I agree. As for VR, I always saw that for a red herring for the rich and/or desperate. Of course, I am a minimilist builder myself. Most planets are pretty bare, with a small handful of higher PQ planets built up with a few morale and research extras and one or two special production centers that get "everything" under the sun in due time. A special circumstance like a border system getting culture bombed or a system on the front line of repeated invasion
Of course, where you catch the hobbit is very important. Around the shires, several lazy ones can be caught off-guard, especially while they enjoy some of that "wacky tobacky" of theirs. Unfortunately, hobbits outside the shires tend to be the adventurous types and therefore usually highly aware of their surroundings. Nothing seems to be worse than trying to sneak up on a hobbit thief who is already on the prowl, sneaking around looking for things to "borrow".
Does anyone know how this is calculated because we have much more than half their score?
One of the great mysteries of the Meta, to be sure. I am no math wiz, but I'll try to tackle it with simple observation. Stardock people with the exact formula or folks with a good feel for stats are more than welcome to disclose the secret or crack the code. :) Score alone doesn't do it. Neither does number of members. Nor number of battles. My best guess is that it is a co
I just noticed something, we have two honorary jedi in the Jedi Republic. Do you guys listen in on the council converstations? What are they planning...
Well, there went the grand Jedi plan to pass Spec Forces in the night. Looks like it might take the whole weekend if the majority of the Spec Forces members are hitting the bars again. If actually playing instead of bar hopping, you might make Jedi Captain Mayito work for it real hard and hold them off for a week or long
Minors were in need of being beefed up a bit, but perhaps it was done in the wrong way. Making them expand more aggressively without fixing their inherent weakness in warfare and trades is a little disturbing. Personally, I like the minors being able to crank out the trade goods or trying to research faster on their own. The increased territory also makes them harder to wipe out if the majors go on the warpath. So despite some shortcomings, I think with a little further refinement it could all w
I see things are evil over here, as usual. The Evil Empire: no good will come of it. :)
Just delivered a little more to the cause. Another culture bomb, a Gerakken specialty. When it comes to tossing the wee folk, the method varies a bit depending on weight. Something real small like a pixie gets tossed javelin style after a running start. Hobbits are best done by grabbing both feet and spinning around before release, much like a discus throw. Dwarves are tougher due to greater size and weight. Again, a spinning throw is used, but the dwarf is grabbed with one hand on his
I've been busy trying to put a few aliens in line myself. No pacifistic game this time. Only two small wars so far, but things started to get pretty ugly when the two superpowers of the map allied. It will be me vs. them eventually, but so far this unholy Drengin/Altarian alliance is picking on the minors, Yor and Torians. I should have this one in the bag by tomorrow.
I've been trying to access 'you know'
As part of what must be a pre-emptive strike, dastardly enemies representing one of your close competitors have obviously found a way to disable your secret communications array. Clearly an enemy use of textbook strategy here: find 'em, blind 'em, bind 'em. Then move in for the kill. I suggest moving into the highest state of readiness and then shoot first, ask questions later. Of course, there is the off chance that it is only a tech
Not yet. Just tempting him.
Heh. There are three evil players who are orphans in the top 100. Looks like you got a bit more tempting to do, or are the other two fish too small? Well, what you don't catch, I am sure others will try. Say, I am sure GROSS could always use a few more pirates... :)
I'm simply baffled as to why Stardock hasn't improved the cultural AI.
I agree with most of vincible's points. Culture is the dark secret of Galciv. Too many people using it as the primary weapon to decimate or even destroy the aliens and doctoring the victories to cover up the evidence. Worse yet, lack of obvious anti-culture AI improvements compound the problem. But I have seen subtle signs of cultural resistance, though they are hardly effective against a human player
More difficult though shouldn't equal impossible.
I have to agree with AIL.ST here. Maso should mean maso, as in very, very hard to even impossible, and not a cheap ticket to an extreme amount of points. That is what maso degraded into with versions 1.10 and 1.11 in my observation of the Meta. Maybe the level should be full of bribe, bribe, bribe, fight, fight, fight and not being able to buy comfort very easily with 1 IP cheese or cozying up into arranging unbreakable al
Chill out dude; the rest of the squad will pull extra duty to compensate. Right, squad! Er...squad?
*Gerakken eyes the upcoming Jedi/MWC/Euro traffic jam warily* Yep, time for you folks to get moving before they catch up. SQUAD, DOUBLE TIME, MARCH!
Another dup. Only hit the button once!
Save the replays for the hockey game! (Gerakken visits to sneaks another Canadian beer out of the fridge. It goes well with MWC popcorn.) :)
Being a one player empire for ages may have seemed unlucky to some, but things turned out pretty well later. So while currently being ranked at #13 on the empire list might seem unlucky as well, perhaps "unlucky" 13 can be used in your favor. Think of ways to harnass the power of 13. Odd is good!
3 million. Grats! :CONGRAT: Looks like the scoreboard did not break, so I guess it is onward and upward to 5 million. Nice bit of action going on in the 2, 3, and 4 spots on the empire board. I know the current Fellowship lead may seem pretty comfy now, but folks down there might start getting pretty pushy as a side effect of the new Euro offensive. Keep your guard up, Ringwraiths.
4 Mid-Western Confederation surther 57 896 2304298
Keep your eyes on the farmers. Don't think their Euro troubles will slow them down. It will only hasten their advance. The effects of the war will soon spill over here. The Army of the Republic will be needed now that the Jedi cannot keep the peace. Begun, the Clone Wars have! (Sorry, Master Yoda, had to steal your line a bit early. :) )
Congrats, kasualkid. Your forum promotion comes at a timely moment. The MWC needs every able-bodied soldier and diplomat it can muster, for the Euros are on the move. Their diplomats and spies are already laying the groundwork for the invasion.
Lets make it a clean fight...no corn throwing
Hmmm. Isn't that what those English guys said in 1776? But I don't think any dirty tricks will be necessary this time. (Gerakken snitches some MWC popcorn and watches the figh
It obviously took a good amount of work to construct... I'd like to nominate KasualKid for his work.
I would second the nomination as well, but it looks like he already got promoted by the time I got back around! :CONGRAT: It took quite some effort to put the statbot together, I am sure.
It might also be worth looking at giving out some diplomats for services rendered as well - Theoden for the Metaverse Review, for example, and possibly the spymaster Gerak
Sounds like the boss is starting to abuse the aliens again. This is a good sign. :)
