Matthew, Sirian's done some interesting things with one-sector and one-planet challenges on maso. If you're getting bored with standard Galciv you might give them a try. Check the strategy forum for details.
I salute you, Minister of Information, on your promotion to Vice Admiral. It is well deserved!
I'm seeing conflicting messages here.
Tis' the session of carrols and mirth . . . if we must have it out can't it wait until the new year? I for one am weary of battle . . .

Special Forces intend to have the wizards...for Christmas dinner....
I will abstain from a vote for war with the Special Forces, for now. However, they must respect Fellowship territory. If they again close within 125,000 points, my vote shall be for war! Me
A strat forum post on PQ: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=67698#70166 +7% is definitely not worth it.
It seems to do NOTHING whatsoever.
Rumor has it that it lowers the alignment requirement for researching an evil-only or good-only tech.
I find that the best way to go is to have your wonder-producing world(s) lag in other social improvements, rather than have the other worlds build wastefully. The problem isn't TOO bad if you manage to get the main production buildings on that world early and don't put the production buildings on the other worlds until later.
How do I build improvements there without wasting enormous production everywhere else?
Typically, you don't. Yeah, it sucks. [quot
Morale between 54 and 99 is at the normal growth rate, of a certain percent per year (3% if I recall correctly). Morale less than 54 leads to population decline. Morale of 100 gives double population growth. I don't think anyone's actually tested this for several versions but I don't think there's any reason that it should have changed.
because Special Forces intend to have the wizards...for Christmas dinner....
Brave words from the man who's back in seventh place.
Hermann, sorry I took so long. But I finally got a chance to play your game. I pulled out a victory from your save game "tightrope." I did not look at the other save game. In general, I don't think this was a map where a pacifistic strategy was a good idea. You had lots of weak neighbors and a runaway superpower on the far side of the map. I think the strategy to go with was to take over those weak neighbors as quickly as possible, so that you had enough planets to deter the Drengi
I read months ago that luck also helps your ship to shoot first during combat but I didn't pay enough attention to this during gameplay.
I'm pretty sure attacker always shoots first. I haven't used luck for a while, either.
I was referring to Gengsta!
that makes a lot of sense though.
I quite enjoyed it, Terl! Hmmm... just reread my character description. Maybe it's time for a change.
The Jedi should realize that you Evil overlords are really Mostly Harmless.
And best wishes to the atheists and other heathens as well.
Terl, you seem sensible so there's probably no need for this post. But there have been misunderstandings in the past. I wanted to make it absolutely clear that there's no real hostility between players and empires, and certainly not toward you. You should go where you think you fit in best. I hope you (in real life) don't mind me writing this. I was just thinking that we needed some event to stir up some more story-writing in this thread, and your departure was a convenient ex

We're heading into winter break at college... maybe he'll find the time for a few games. And yes, Maxti deserves congratulations. Congratulations!
It is a time of war in the Metaverse. The Jedi and their allies in the Evil Empire have launched an attack upon the European Alliance. So far, the Fellowship has not deigned to involve itself in the petty squabbles of lesser empires. Is it the will of the Fellowship that this continue? Until now, the Fellowship has tried to maintain good relations with all other Empires, as befitting its role as benevolent Galactic hegemon. However, the galaxy is changing. We face a new challenge from t
Whoa, cool pic, Greldon. Is that from Escaflowne? I don't remember anything like that but I can't think of anything else with robots carrying swords.
Sirian, do you actually play all the way to the bitter end? My general policy is to play until I'm quite sure that I've lost, then quit.
Looks like only the top 15 get numbers. Maybe they did this so that newbies wouldn't be totally demoralized upon finding out that they're 7000th place. [Message Edited]
My guess is it'll update eventually... I sure hope so

Instead of nuking my only system (which was in range), the TS retreated back next to the Dreg home system and remained there. What?!? I repeated the same with the Arcs and Yors with the same result. I even gave them the Terror Star tech just in case they need that to operate the big gun. If the AIs
