The 1 IP issue is alive and well. I'm reporting this as a bug because Frogboy said it was fixed in this patch. This is probably the most abused exploit in the game right now, far more than, say, starbase abuse. I really hope its fixed soon.

Mmm... also it seems like the AI is a bit smarter about declarations of war, which is great. I think the maso bonus has been toned down somewhat though--the AIs aren't shooting ahead on tech nearly as fast as I'm used to. Disappointing. Anyway, that was fun but it's definitely time for sleep. [Message Edited]
Just be connected to the internet on the last turn of your game. The option to submit should come up after the normal victory screens.
Anyone noticed an increase in random event frequency in 1.11? I'm playing my first 1.11 game and I got colonization events on six of eight worlds colonized.
omg that sounds like an even worse exploit than mass terror stars. [Message Edited]
Weird... maybe I could try submitting it from my computer?
When you play the last turn of the game, make sure you're connected to the internet. Your chance to submit should come after the normal victory screen. There's no way to just submit a saved game--the only way is after the victory. [Message Edited]
the difficulty levels are labeled by the AI strength. Crippling is the second highest level, with all AIs at "genius." Masochistic, which the thread started out being about, is the highest level, with all AIs at "incredible."
Jexal, In the diplomacy screen when you ask for a peace treaty, add other things to their side of the negotiating table as well (techs, money, planets, and so on). You will only get planets if your military is much stronger than theirs.
Yeah Stydracos, that's more in line with my experiences.
Since I've posted it elsewhere, I might as well put it here with my RingFellows: you can email me at That's not my "real" address so if you send anything to me you might want to bump this thread to make sure I check it.
Mmm... so what SHOULD he do? Why do you want to get rid of your old games, anyway?
Hi Jedis, My opinion, which you may of course feel free to ignore, is that the problem will go away on its own. No one on this forum is malicious. I'm certain that any hopping that's been done has been under the assumption that no one minded. You've made it clear that you do mind, so I'm sure that everyone will respect your wishes in this regard. [Message Edited]
Yeah, sorry about referring you to the Maso strategies thread. I didn't check your profile. All the posts assume you've figured out how to beat crippling without much trouble.
Btw, just to hop on the bandwagon, people can email me:
I've never played a turn-based 4X game that I've liked in multiplayer mode. So no.
Aaugh, this is the most Meta-breaking bug in the game.
Looks like the basics are covered here. If you want the gory details, check out Frogboy's Strat forum post: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=39453&BID=GS&page=1#87312
hey guys, ive seen many people playing maso level games. but whenever ive tried, i get backside kicked within 2 years. how on earth do you do it?
Kyp, I recommend you check the GC Strategies forum. There are a lot of good threads there. The one called "Maso Strategies" has it all, albeit not in a very user-friendly format. There are a couple other walkthroughs, such as the one by Jeff Desilva.
And also, feel free to leave! We're a Fellowship, not a dictatorship.
On a separate note, does anyone know how to kill this account so I can start afresh with a new nickname and no metaverse submissions?
I think you can do it at: http://www.wincustomize.com/ I've never done it myself though. "Edit account" then "change nickname." You still submit under your old name though.
If you want some motivation to beat the farmers, keep in mind that most of the votes that elected Bush came from the Midwest. Guys, not sure if the empire-hopping that you're upset about includes my little prank with Theoden and arobertson a few days ago. If it does, I apologize--I didn't think any harm would come of it.
I think it's spaces (ie movement points), not sectors. I haven't gotten a game in yet for 1.11 but I'm pretty sure that it's this way. [Message Edited]
Yup, we certainly weren't out to try to belittle anyone. We were just playing around on the Metaverse for about an hour, and some people took it more seriously than we did, as we should have anticipated given this forum's history.
Hey, send me a copy of your save game and I'll take a look at it. I'm not officially "in the konw" but I'm pretty experienced. Maybe I'll be able to see what's going on.
Yeah, it's a nice, open and friendly community. I certainly wouldn't want to change that. I'm glad everyone here is pretty laid-back about the Metaverse and doesn't get too upset about the little ups and downs. I guess we should just keep in mind that not everyone necessarily feels the same way about it. Sorry about inflicting a discussion of agriculutral policy on your character! If you wish to take vengance upon me I would understand ;) Hmm... these defections need a story, t
