Yeah, in my current game the Scottinglas picked up a PQ26 planet two sectors from earth. They didn't keep it for long though :D

In the lab I'm working in, we had contractors install a door. When they left, we tried to shut it... and it wouldn't close all the way. Not even close--it was maybe thirty degrees away from shutting. Granted it was a special kind of door, but that's why we were paying them to do it. Sheesh. I can't fathom the sort of mind who could look at that kind of job and say, "hey, we're done."
It wasn't intended to be a test. If someone wants to draw some data from it, it was played completely under 1.11.
Fellowship council is fine with me. I really like 1.11 so far. It does seem significantly easier to me though, do you agree?
No doubt there were massive cost overruns during the construction of the Academy. You know how contractors are...
Great! A couple more games and you'll get yourself a shiny new top-25 medal, too!
You have made me a very, very happy man.
Yeah, I don't really like the government system the way it is--there's no strategy in government choice and no harm in moving to a higher form. By contrast Civ did things nicely.
*yawn* I've been pretty quiet today since I've got a minor cold.
Is everybody cool with the name Council of Four?
My one reservation is that it seems to be very slightly elitist. That said, I don't mind that much, and I don't have any better ideas offhand.

Are you sure all the AIs are set to basically the same level? That sounds like the behavior you get when you set one AI to Incredible and the rest to low levels. (Incredible AIs get huge bonuses.)
I'm halfway through a medium, when I can find time to finish it...
Wombat, your post was nice, but not nice enough for me to forgive you for stealing fifth place back from me.
The only really transformative thing in the game, in my opinion, is Eyes of the Universe. You're right, and it does greatly decrease the excitement of exploring the tech tree when you know there's nothing really revolutionary along it. It does help the AI play better, though, since it doesn't have to deal with a whole bunch of different types of tactics.
The original idea was that since you get points for techs researched, the penalty for the tech victory is partially offset by the higher tech score. I agree that the nerf is *way* overdone though.
It's the worst exploit in the game imo. I put it in the bug report thread. Carielf said she'd look at it again--there might have been an issue with file versions.
Mine are named 0,1,2... And a preemptive no to Mayito, I'm not joining the Academy ;p
Michael, Your old scores don't hurt you. The scoring system got revised in such a way that the scores in each thirty day block are independent of each other.
Oh, and there's certainly no need for you (or anyone!) to apologize for jumping into this thread. Especially given the defections and retirements we've seen recently--this thread would be pretty sparse if no one else came here.
It's been a persistent problem for as long as I remember (I've been here since 1.04). Whatever algorithm Stardock uses to catch cheats is just a bit too sensitive. It seems to strike at random and there's not much you can do to avoid it.
Time of Troubles! From "Forgotten Realms."
Will look at it tonight.
Correct. Some people are giving these gifts every three turns. It's really abusive. It's most effective with a high diplomacy rating.
From here on out, I'm through apologizing. I'm through trying to understand what some of these people are doing. And I'm through feeling bad for these empires. This crap has gotten so ridiculous that, at least for the time being, I'm initiating a Monroe Doctrine for myself.
My thoughts exactly--I tried a bit last night but it didn't go anywhere. People don't seem to be in the mood to be reasonable. I'm only posting in empires I consider "sane" The person who I do
Hehe, thanks, TheQuack, I appreciate that. I've been feeling rather abused lately. [Message Edited]
