Evil is better on smaller maps or rarer stars, while good is probably better on the larger maps with more abundant stars. If you have only three planets, then getting a +40% PQ event has much more effect on your empire's prospects than if you have twenty planets.
Weird. I did exactly that. I tried Xing the numbers and letters in the game.galaxy file, and that crashed my game. Then I tried putting in the serial number used for a previous GOTM, and that crashed my game too. *shrug*
Grr... why the heck is the serial number in the save game in the first place? *sigh* I give up for now. Going to dedicate some time to increasing our empire score.
This is really frustrating. The GOTM is ready to go, but when I take the serial number out, or replace it with Ellestar's pirated one, my game crashes. I suspect that Stardock may have added some checksum so that the game crashes if the serial number is changed. *sigh* Thoughts?
As higher levels the minors are relatively less powerful than the majors but the military ranking is all over the place in my experience.
In spite of this, I've never seen a minor other than the Fundamentalists become an important part of a maso game.
Everyone's score is always lower for the empire data, I don't know why?
We were just discussing this in the Fellowship thread. Metaverse scores decay at 5% per month, while personal scores decay at 10%.
What is the advantage of keeping the square root within a block system as opposed to a system of invidually aged games? Even if for some reason you wanted to penalize games played close together, there are still much better ways.
Such a strange system. It seems so artificial to break things into blocks.
Econ: your income is more complicated than that. You get some income just from owning a planet--this is based on the PQ. And you have some income based on the population. Your econ bonus is applied only to the population-based income. Social/military--the manual's probably out of date. It was stated long ago that they're not free. Military production is still a nice pick since it allows you to crank out colony ships more quickly in the early game. I don't care for the social production
I think your guess is correct, that its partly because the minors are less affected by the difficulty level.
Good to know the AI is still being tweaked. It seems like they're just making minor changes, though, and ignoring the big primary issue of the AI's absolute helplessness against a cultural assault.
Yes, Frogboy posted that first, and Ray's reposted it several times. I don't believe him on the victory conditions, nor on the tech tree completed bonus.
WC3 disappointed me so much. I played it for a week then went back to Starcraft.
The tech is called (surprise) "terror star" and follows "artifical planets" which follows "artificial satellites" which follows, oh heck, just look at the tech tree posted at this site: webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell
Thanks Gert! Now I might actually use them!
What citahellion said. I've been able to run taxes at 80% late game, when I had all the morale resources.

Wow, long day for me. GOTM was delayed because, after playtesting yesterday, I decided the maso game I'd originally planned was impossible. I wanted it to challenge the best players--and boy, it sure would have--but I do want people to survive long enough to have something to write about other than "I settled two stars, then the Dregnin invaded and destroyed me." Congrats on top 25 Theoden! The medal looks good on you. Rick, I'll head over to the strat forum now.
Alex, not sure about the capabilities of your server. Would it be easy for you to set up a forwarding email address to just bounce email to me? I'm leery of putting my real email on such a public site, but free accounts probably wouldn't give me the storage required. If it's not easy, don't worry about it. Also, does anyone remember how you can strip the serial number from a saved game? As I recall, Michael Casey did it somehow but I have no idea how it was done.
Enjoy. Beyond Human has a great cinematic. Be warned that Stardock nerfs the scoring on tech victories though.
It can be useful to put morale boosters on planets with 100% morale. If you build morale boosters on planets with 100% morale, it means you can raise taxes. Sometimes by a lot.
Actually more like 100,000 immigrants per year from Europe.
But how can that be, when all the smartest Europeans are immigrating to the US? :SURPRISED:
Alex, I may take you up on that offer of hosting. I'll email you tonight. Celeborne, congrats on your gigantic. I'd consider joining the PBEM game, but I'm having enough trouble keeping up with just one. Have fun though. The Jaws story may get a sequel--I've got something in mind, actually--but not until my schedule frees up a bit.
