I only build up strategicly important starbases, like military resources on the front lines etc. Its not like I improve all of my dozens of starbases, after all by the time you need to defend against overlords and excaliburs, I can build enough constructors in a single turn to fully rebuild several starbases(on large+ maps) My problem is I overbuild constructors so I run out of things to do with em, end up building defenses :) A single overlord mi

If you actually got a lot of resource military upgrades the max defense for a starbase will actually crush any attacker but an excalibur. Hundreds of dreadnoughts have just slaughtered themselves upon the defenses of some of my starbases. Seen some even take several overlords, but there tends to be a limit to that :) Excaliburs now, you actually need to attack those with an overlord(or 2), or your own excaliburs.
When I play tiny, im all about the +30 soldering bonus. It really helps with rushing :) And yea, try a gigantic abundant if you want tedius, tinies take me 2 hours and thats with all fighting. Gigantics take me 6 hours if I dont fight, 12 if I do.
Starbases never defend before a ship, regardless of which would be the stronger defender. Starbases do repair, but slowly, very very slowly.
wow, im just a little peon to you now ! :) Either this will be the most radical change to the scoring yet or someone misplaced a decimal ;) [Message Edited]
Yea ok got it, seriously think starbase bonuses need to be capped. So basicily you can catapult any ship pretty much anywhere on the map instantly. Sounds abit cheesy to me.
Size of active players will matter over time, the metaverse is still very young and smaller empires can compete, but in the end, numbers will rule. This isnt a bad thing though.
What is a trade catauplt, I have never heard of such a thing with respect to this game except from you.
Actually I am pretty sure sense 1.04, the computer can not research final frontier.
That resolves the problem of forcing score conscious empires kicking out poor performing members, but it creates the situtation where instead of being a minor contributer, beyond those 20 you become a non contributor. I think the point of empires is to let _everyone_ contribute to a group cause. I currently feel its fine the way it is, though low difficulty games are scoring to many points imo. [Message Edited]
Er, so its a mod? How is that any different then just gifting yourself the money with a hex editor? using 680 constructors, makes the process of getting 80,000 credits per turn difficult and 700 bc/turn is still less then 1%.
Empires are not always about having the best or brightest. It does help to have a numerical advantage. Recruiting and propaganda are part of what makes empires interesting.
Tech victory is for those who can maintain their own little corner of the galaxy, but cant do much else.
I doubt time is the consideration here, I have won games very quickly and gotten very low scores for them. I think CM is right, the bonus for easily dominating the opponant is having a bigger effect then the bonus for playing against harder opponants. Has very little to do with time completed by. Anyway, even if your right, its still a problem, if its not that hard to get a quicky military victory, it shouldnt be worth that much either.
10 maxed starbases along every sector of the route? Gesh, I still think multiple starbases per sectors is wrong(except resource mining of course)
Of course you dont find this unbalancing at tiny, think about the economies of scales. It costs the same at huge when that amount of credits is trivial. This is where it becomes unbalancing. [Message Edited]
It costs about 20k for a resource starbase. Which on a huge/gigantic abundant economy is about 3-5 months near the mid game and 1 month towards the end, faster if your getting a lot of econ resources back. Perhaps the cost should be adjusted for the size/quality of the map, cause 20k is a ton and apporiate on a tiny. But the larger maps, 20-30k is chump change. About 2 techs, depends on the techs guys, some of those very late t
Near the end of my last game. The Acreans were wiped out. The Alterians were evil with 1 systems The Yor where evil with 1 systems the Torian were good with 1 systems and the Dregin were good with about 8 systems. In the span of 2 months, the Alterians surrendered to the Yor Then the Yor surrendered to the Torians. I actively and recently faught all the empires, while the goods AI's had a long history of fighting the evil AI's. Spe
Many others have the same problem, check the thread above(its always above, its sticky) about metaverse submission problems. When its working, its instant.
Oh cool that can be our new motto peace, justice, morality, culture, sport, family life and the obliteration of all other life forms. Taken straight out of Life, the Universe and Everything, end of chapter 10. [Message Edited]
So I dont throw my OWN people into the pods of infinite pain. I do incinerate all alien lifeforms on all planets in the galaxy. Thats not evil, thats just getting rid of slimy Aliens. Why would killing all the slimy aliens be evil? Its a just and rightous cause!!! The 3 exclamation points means im telling the truth! :)
Large maso is a good challange, but doable Gigantic maso is a long challange, but not bad. Huge maso is a bitch, i cant seem to beat it. Grr, antoher large or 2 and on to medium!
Bah, if you sort the metaverse by alignment im the top dog evil guy. If you sort it by good, im only like 4th. Yet im good overall :(
Oh and they wont declare war on you either, guess thats 3 differences and of course you cant spy or perform destabilization on them. And some of them appear to be very resistent to cultural flipping, but some are not(alexians for instance)
