Well, come the new scoring changes that are expected monday, the empire rankings will change quite a bit im sure. Hard to predict what will happen.

Ok, yea that matches my experience, I lose quite a few early wonders and was wondering if you had some way of actually getting them :)
Re: RayChua Um, pop exploiting on 1.044 is very effective, thats a known issue with 1.044. Its been demonstrated by both sergey and myself in this thread several times. As you say, tomorrow it will hopefully be obsolete :) [Message Edited]
Tech victory!
Yes Gerakken, that would be a cosmetic bug :)
You can build all the wonders/TG on the current maso? I cant even come close :(
To use the terror star indirectly, I believe you need cultural modules on it. I dont think that the 'terror' star has any intrinsic ability to convert colonies.
Id guess this sort of cool feature will have to wait for galciv 2. These sort of things are not that easily added in and require extensive work from graphic artists. Not the sort of stuff that is added in as a patch or even an expansion, im afraid. [Message Edited]
And yea, Ray has a good point, tomorrow everything will probably change and all our comments on it today will have no meaning :)
Okuven, I believe you have misunderstood some of the posts. The example of the cakewalk game being worth so much is a function of population exploding. This is being corrected and should hopefully no longer be much of an issue. The relative scores of different map sizes is currently being looked into, but I am happy to report that it would appear my belief that the ratio should be about 2-1 is being more heavily considered and that should result in sm
I can get the the time building a constructor down to 5(6 turns after counting the 0 turn) at the very start of a game. using +pq, +military production, industrust maxing military spending and maxing government spending.
Heh, ive never even heard of a suicidal level :) Sounds like a little cosmetic bug
I just lost a quickie :) A small where I quickly eliminated the alterians and had 1/3 of the systems. Unfortantly the torians had another 1/3 and hated my guts, when the dregin(who had 90% of the remaining 3rd) joined them it quickly became clear that this wasnt gonna be a victory for G.R.O.S.S. The other 2 civs found themselves isolated to 1 and 2 systems each. Will save it out for a later day when I feel like dying :) I dont think ill
population isnt being discounted entirely, abundancy will still be favored.
So you play faster then me Ellestar, but its a ratio and without the 2nd half, your data is meaningless. If it takes you 1.5 hours to do a tiny rare, how long does it take you to do a gigantic rare with the same speedy finish goal. I have completed gigantics in 6 hours, but the way I currently play, it takes more like 12 hours now, its also more fun.
Yea, mitresoft is basicily useless to purchase wonders in the early game. As it should be, its still usefull to purchase in the mid-late game to purchase wonders, emergency warships and terraformering. Its slightly cheaper to just outright buy it cash down, and I am using that quite abit more often.
It takes me about 4-5 times longer to complete a gigantic game then it does to complete a tiny game. And while it might seen sensible that a gigantic should be worth 4-5 times as much, the way the scores are currently accumulated, being worth 5 times as much will mean that tiny games will not be able to complete with gigantic games. Points/Game: # of games: resultant score: 5000_______: 5_________: 11180.34 -- Gigantic base line 1000
Ive been doing a lot of extorting for planets lately. I build up a nasty fleet, wipe out everyones fleet and then demand planets in exchange for a month worth of peace. After getting a few key planets, the rest will culturally flip. I dont even bother very much with transports or even colony ships to culturally bomb anymore :)
I actually have no problem with tiny/small games being on a 2-1 ratio with large+ games. It is currently more of a 3-2 ratio with is perhaps a tad to close, but Frog mentioned he wants a 5-1 ratio which I think is just way to far apart. Considering the algorathim for summing games does not reward, and in fact punishes people for low scoring games, they shouldnt be that far apart. I dont want to stop submitting tiny/small games just b
Frogboy, even 1.04 had problems with 12 trillion pop crippling scores being equal to 5 trillion masochistic scores. You yourself said quite admirable that this issue isnt really enough of a concern for you to spend countless coding hours on it. The current problem is just highlighting a more fundemental issue if you manage to fix the more fundemental issue, great but if not, then this can help keep the game more enjoyable for the freaks at the top.
Its all good news today.
Wow, even at the same pop, with me being faster your crippling score would still have been higher then my maso. Sigh
Instant follow up :) Why a hard turn rather then just asking people to end uncontested games when they end. Several reasons. This will actually punish faster players with lower scores as their pop will have less time to grow. I dont want to steal from people who actually enjoy colonizing every planet they can. And how else can we define a simple method by which to avoid this problem? Its not that simple.
While the current scoring method is again heavily rewarding pop exploiting, this is really just highlighting a more fundemental problem. The temptation is hard not to exploit the pop a little, but this only leads to inflation as we all push it a little more looking for that better score. As making use of this explotation is insanely boring, it would seem to make sense if we find a way we can as a community come together and make the game more
Sergey, going from 5k to 7k for 40 years of work is a rewarding pop exploiting to some extent. Going from 5k to 22k for the same amount of exploiting is rewarding it as heavily as it was rewarded in 1.035 which I was not fine with. Btw, I end all my games prior to 2210, and most of them prior to 2105. [Message Edited]
