Alexti, I dont object to you having an odd opinion on the meaning of score, but your phrasing it in such a manner that suggests your opinion is the only possible opinion is both offensive and absurd. As the current scoring system obviously reflects how you won, not just if you won, then its implicit that from a scoring point of view, there is a point to playing a game on the same difficulty level. To win with more depth and demonstration of skill. Its one<

There has to be a factor beyond military power that effects an Ai's tendency to declare war on you. Back when I played gigantics and managed to colonize over 50% of the galaxy, the Ai's didnt seem to really want to annoy me that much, even though I had a puny military compared to them. On the other hand, perhaps its due to your technology or trading, well, whatever, interesting that you achieved such a unique victory, try it on masochistic :)

What the metaverse did to scores i dont understand. id say they just cut all the scores in half again except some people ended up with a negative score and pontius had a score drop from 11000 to 1700. Other then that, it looks like pop is still the biggest factor with wonders built being the 2nd. Difficulty does have an impact, but the capacity to build all the wonders on crippling more then makes up for any bonus for difficulty, putting them on

Thats not a problem sergey, thats the intent. There are several issues here. The faster you finish the game(ie the more skill you show) the fewer points you achieve. I want to reward people for playing faster, you achieve universal domination quicker, you get a higher end score as a result of having more time fill the universe with your people. The point of 2210 is that it puts everyone on a level playing field, rather then me fin

Sergey, about the minors wiping out the majors, I think you read me wrong :) A minor can wipe out all the majors if a major dominates the map and is evil when the fundementalist strike, and/or the I-League gets lucky. Even if minors own 90% of the systems, if all the majors are dead, you win a military victory. Ive heard stories of it happening. As for losing a cultural victory, perhaps you have a point, but then again im cheap, if i cant w

The Yor? Hahahaha, I have never seen the Yor dominate :) If there is any tech bug that is letting some civs get techs they shouldnt, the Yor dont have it [Message Edited]

CM, you should actually read what I wrote. I called the posistion of limiting yourself to one sector absurd. Not the conclusions that you drew from it, which were just wrong. Nor your suggestion for how games should be scored, which I did have not read close enough to actually understand, math hates me. Btw. in 1.039 tech victories were worth the most by a longshot. Your statement that "I take offense to the ignorant statement that tech victories wer

Um, CM, Sergey, your taking an absurd posistion, one where you artifically limit yourself to one sector, and drawing conclusions on how this will effect gameplay for tech victories across normal games. You can of course but you have to keep in mind the reality that your starting from. So winning by tech is difficult when you only control one system, well duh, winning is difficult period. If you can achieve an alliance victory, a tech victory <

On small maps I just take all the evil picks. On larger maps I tend to go for good early on but will switch to evil by the end of the game. Nothing like having both the trade center and lifeforce power :)

PQ has a dramatic effect on base production, research and morale. To take the colonization events as an example. a 40% increase in PQ will net you more new research then a 40% research bonus would. It will net you nearly as much new production as a 40% production increase would. It will net you a signifigant amount of morale, and it will net you an improvement to your tax base. The morale bonus should again be noted as this controls pop

I actually like the balance on larger masochistic maps. i tend to win via combo of cultural flipping and military conquest. I rather enjoy this. Smaller maps are almost pure military. I think the balance for cultural flipping(at least on masochistic) is much better. its still not hard, but its not the mindless joke it was before. [Message Edited]

Whatever Fsk, such a simple inarticulate scoring system will result in a ton of ties and an absurdly pointless gaming enviroment. What ever game you choose as an example, there is a difference in skill between someone who wins a game in 15 years with total galatic domination and the vast majority of the wonders/pop and someone who wins the same settings in 160 years via a tech victory with their single remaining system barely holding on in a little

Code Monkey. Two points. 1. I agree about how simple it is to win rare games. Just want you to keep in mind that I dont disagree with everything you say :) 2. Punishing rare galaxies or rewarding abundant galaxies, same coin different sides, a mere matter of semantics, saying that rare galaxies are punished is just as correct as saying abundant galaxies are more rewarded. Its a relative issue between the two choices and you have said so yoursel

Well, it might be easier if you take the game your trying to compare it too(if u still have it saved) and finish it again. This way you will get the older game on the previous version scored on the current version. Then you can compare the two on the same version. If you dont have the previous game saved, reverting is possible depending on the the version you want to revert too. If its one with an actual patch that you still have, just delete the game
