To use your analogy, I would measure speed in the number of moves you need to make to beat the opponant not in the time it took for you to beat the opponant. In fact thats how it is done in Galciv too. It might might take me 20 hours to finish my masochistic tiny game by 2185(it doesnt, but it makes a point :)) Your analogy is imperfect because its a perfect analogy for my point :) [Message Edited]

I believe that as a strategy game, Galciv should idealy be played independent of how the metaverse is scored. What strategicly makes sense for a player to acomplish within the game should be the choice that a player makes. Such things as techs, wonders, powerful economies, large populations, these things promote a players ability to acomplish the goal of winning(by which ever method) They have a direct effect on a players success. Some people enjoy losing, doesnt mean it should score as well as winning. Dont confuse having fun with a measure of skill. By all means, have all the fun you can, but dont expect me to believe that taking twice as long to win on the exact same map with the exact same end control of the universe should result in the exact same score on the metaverse. If that comes off as insulting, I apologize, I know your a good player and I am glad your having

Oh wow, I feel stupid. Turn off tech victory, well DUH, thats how you do it. Starts swearing at himself. Ok, I will def have final frontier next game :) But i refuse to hit turn doing nothing, I refuse at least until I see how 1.05 turns out.

Ah well, its my ideal scoring system anyway, to make it interesting, how about Tech victories automatically count as 100% galactic conquest. And I would point out that only on tiny can I finish a game before battleships and even then thats rare. Tiny games should be shorter, shouldnt they? If you want to see 100 overlords fielded, thats what huge/gigantic is for, even with speed being cruicial it would still happen. The game is fairly <br

Sergey, should the metaverse control how galciv is played or should galciv control how the metaverse is scored? Galciv is a strategy game, the princables of strategy games do not include using artifical means outside of the actual game to encourage people to play longer to experience all the areas of the actual game. If the game is not balanced enough to cause people to need to use the entire tech tree, then using the metaverse scoring system is just

Sergey, im not gonna ask you to stop doing what you find fun :) I didnt play your game and I cant honestly say what you did or did not do, but going to 2219 in a medium crippling seems very excessive. 5 trillion is alot for a medium :)

Well, the neat thing about my method is that the arbitrary values for different maps can be modified without having any effect on the scores for different map settings. Large abundant scoring to many points, modify its base. Currently the dev's are trying to fix certain odd situtations and screwing everything else up in the process. Its impossible to balance such a complicated thing from the start, so make a system that can easily be adjusted as yo

Reposted from a different thread. Each map type(size, abundancy and cluster tightness) is assigned an arbitrary point value. This is your base score. This base is modified first by the precentage of Yellow(and purple) stars you control. Some exceptions, later. You then modify the base score by the square root of the quantity of the average time of completion on each map type divided by the time the player actually complet
