Yea naytch, thats correct. Minors have 2 basic differences. They will never colonize outside their original sector. And they dont count for military victory conditions (minors can be alive, majors can not be to win by military) Otherwise they are pretty much identical, though of course with only one sector they pretty quickly fall behind everyone else.

Yea, and the Germans surrendered to the Jappenese in WWII, come on guys, you have it all backwards, they should always surrender to the bastard beating them up. Which isnt working either, as often im beating the crap out of someone and they surrender to someone else, wtf. [Message Edited]
Hey, the drengin once asked for sol in a tiny rare when sol was my only system :)
I wish to dominate all map sizes, next up is LARGE ;) Well, at least a strong showing on all map sizes. :) except maybe huge, cause I keep losing :( [Message Edited]
Oh yea, totally agree, minors building tradegoods = free tradegoods for me! Note: Free = trading techs that all the major AI's have long possed and have no real value except to a minor.
So when you research a tech that increases hitpoints, the new technology is just magically applied to all your ships instantly? Or rather, slowly over time that technology is applied bit by bit over the hull of your ship, gradually increasing the strength of the armor. I mean really, of course its just a rationalization, but if your going to call something a bug, at least have a rationalization that makes more sense then the current situtation. <
Some people say the majors gobble them up pretty fast. On tiny maps ive seen it happen as early as frigate and as late as dreadnought. On gigantic maps ive never seen it happen before dreadnought. I wouldnt call that terriable fast, but I dont trade with minors and I think it is a waste to do so. I trade with a civ I dont want to be fighting, trade improves relations ALOT, I mean _ALOT_, so I always pick a civ it would be really painful to be fighting<b
Yes, abundant is worth the most and for some reason I have the most trouble with the drengins. Though I rush pretty hardcore and the dregins have all the military advantages. If you dont rush, then yea, the alterians can start to culturally dominate you rather quickly, there isnt anywhere to hide :) I dont think align effects score at all, but frog said that a filter for align was going to be added and some other stuff on metaverse, and being in the
Yep, I dunno, thats confusing, Perhaps there are different ways to get to each rank?
The amount the AI demands ignores the map type. On a tiny rare, 1300 credits is a laughable amount. On a gigantic abundant during the resource grab phase which is about when they start asking, its still laughable :) I do on the other hand pay out 200-500 ones which are still semi common, and of course I gift mucho to hostile AI's just to aviod the entire sickining demands. Btw, I dont know how it is on easier levels, but AI's will at ti
Well, either its a number of games, a score threshold or success on more map sizes. All of which I will eventually have :) Unless of course its not imped or specially awarded for something, i dunno.
Yea, it doesnt really make sense to surrender to an ally :)
Just incase you were curious, I went and hit turn some 300 times to see what a tiny tech victory was worth, 2100 or so, which is less then half what I got for a military victory, so size doesnt help tech victories at all. 56 turns(almost 5 years) to research beyond human, 55 to research final frontier. I kid you not :)
5384 points for a tiny, that game went smooth as silk! :) Took all of 2 hours to play, drool, tiny rocks.
bah, its more fun to try and figure it out. Looks like fleet captain requires masochistic wins, as some have more games and higher points, but are still just a captain, then some of those who are fleet captain. [Message Edited]
Time consuming != hard Tech victory is the easiest simply because its inevitable so long as you dont die, the other victory conditions require you to actually master the galaxy.
I can have a large happy pop on the higher levels with a superior economy and all of the techs(unless you mean actually researched urself). Thats really not the issue. But your right, the current scoring method is much better then what it was, I just think difficulty level should still be a larger factor, but I will live.
He knows why he lost it :) He wants to know how he can get it back, and obviously it wasnt such a thing as to get him banned. I think he would get better results taking it to email though. Pleading on a forum about a personal matter generally points to having some ulterior agenda.
Late comer to this, but yea, AI's are getting techs without prequisites. I wont call it cheating, I will just call it a bug. I did not notice this in 1.035. User errors generally happen with new and inexperienced users, when you have several veterans as well as several top 25 players in agreement with compelete abscense of player disagreement, I would think you might take a look at one of THESE saved games that have been offered. It occurs to me th
If you want the truth, its like the niccatine patch. Stepping down the competitive level. I was very addicted to age of empires/rise of rome, etc brutally competitive in those games, raising all the way to number one on the zone. Even got hired fulltime by microsoft to playtest age of kings expansion for play balance(im in the credits). Reason I moved out to Seattle area from Michigan, loved it so much I stayed out here when the project ended. I di
Maybe its an alignment issue and not a relations issue. Perhaps they are more apt to surrender to whomever is the closest to the same alignment as them?
You dont need to have dregnin net, but you do need to have stardock, which is a free download under the downloads area on www.galciv.com(ie here) From stardock, you can 'update' galciv, which will automatically download the 'patch', and update the program. There is no actual patch.
2199 on a medium with a cultural victory? It sounds like a respectable speed, not lightning fast but then I doubt a cultural victory is ever lightning fast.
Gesh Ellestar, you think you can go 3 posts without mentioning your misguided and naive impressions of me? Trying to cast my goal as in direct oppisistion of your goal of broading your strategy skills is both a logical fallacy and an uncalled for attack. It reeks of jealously, though I wont pretend to fathom what your agenda actually is. From your earlier posts I thought you were a pretty level headed guy with some very good insights into gaming t
The scores for tiny/small maps were raised quite a bit but I dont think you can call difficulty the major basis for determing the score. Beginner games are still scoring higher then masochistic games. And the difference between crippling and masochistic score wise is almost non existence even though maso is at least 10 times harder.
