this is the scores of the top 3 empires as of right now, also the last column is how much they need to reach 1 Million: Fellowship of the Ring......903393.9.........96606.1 G.R.O.S.S. .................889095.7.........110904.3 Mid-Western Confederation ..693679.8 ........306320.2

to bad we cant actually use our scores as money to bet with, that would deffinatly make things interesting. How about instead to have "Empire Medals", where the empire would get a medal for reaching a milestone, such as beating 1 Million? my bet actually goes for "Quantonia" or "The Flemish" LOL
woa! that was just a joke! i placed my bet on G.R.O.S.S. mainly just because I had to place a bet on an empire if im going to post a thread encouraging others to bet on who will win. how can i expect others to bet if i dont bet myself? as of right now, the chance of any of the top 3 empires to beat 1,000,000 first is pretty much random, they all need to cover over 100,000 points, and that is a lot of points. I picked G.R.O.S.S. over the other 2 simply because i know not everone likes Lord o
Well, the top 3 empires are pretty close to a million now. maybe this will give them a nice goal in their recruiting campaigns, and also encourage the current members to submit "one more game".
Since we just saw the first person to break 100,000 points in the metaverse last night (Staffa, by the way, with 101,294 points, with RayTheWanderer just 30 points shy of 100,000). we should now place bets as to what Empire will break 1,000,000 points first. As of right now, the scores of the top three Empires are: G.R.O.S.S.......................861269.2 (needs 138730.8) Fellowship of the Ring..........840491.2 (159508.8) Mid-Western Confederation.......717205.3 (282794.7)
wow, im right! :CONGRAT: i am kinda disapointed however, i actually was rooting for Darkhorse9 or Bimbo15 also :(
LOL so much for the hurricane [Message Edited]
wow, check out the scores of the top players. lets see you will make it to 100,000 first. Ray the Wanderer.........99970 Staffa...................87356 PontiusBruinPilot........79502 im guessing its going to be Staffa, since RayTheWanderer just submited 2 games today, and im guessing it will be a few days before he submits again. Staffa hasnt submited in awhile, so maybe he is finishing up a game to submit soon.
by the time there is only one major player left, you probably will be doing all of your trade with them, except with any minors, but by then, there probably wont be any left. once war is declared, you will loose those trade routes, and end up crippling your economy. best thing to do is to make sure some minors survive right to the end in military conquests, that way you still will be able to have some tradeing partners near the end of the game.
but how big is the bonus about?
i remember reading some posts a long time ago about star colour. apparently some coloured stars give an influence bonus, and some (the yellow) offer a higher chance of having a habitable planets. can anyone tell me what the colours and bonuses are? also how big are the bonuses?
so each parsec travelled in a turn gets added up? so if a trade ship is eternally "stuck" in just one parsec, it wont generate any income? i know i should know this by now, but i usually just send off my trade ships and just forget about them.
flipping a planet makes a lot more sense then invading it. you dont have to worry about building transports, or depleating a planets population to fill those transports, or even have to worry about loosing buildings or planet quality. there are too many bonuses to getting a planet to culturally flip then it is to invade a planet. not only that, there are no negative consequences when you flip a planet, the AI doesnt get angry or anything. in my opinion, i think they should ether make it hard
the altarians and the Drengin tend to be the most skilled AI's. Since i like playing evil, its the Alterians that give me the most problems, i think i had only 1 game ever that the Alterians didnt declare a war on me.
how exactly does this trade embargo work?
being a Beta Tester sounds like work to me :p . im assumming a beta tester would have to answer some questionnaire or something, while keeping close track of details while trying the program out.
what difficulty are you playing at? what year are you in your game? and what are you building for your social projects? we will need a lot more information to tell you where you are going wrong. you should be getting more then 200 BC if you have 30 planets (usually). some pointers: -put your taxes up around 50% -trade with big AIs that you dont plan on starting a war with (atleast not anytime soon) -dont build all of the social projects available! build the stuff t
i also have stopped getting into alliances, too many wars with opponents that i have no problem with. question: has anyone had an AI offer them an alliance? all the alliances i have been in, i have initiated, i never had an AI ask me to form an alliance.
i liked the chess like feel of X-com. the grided combat environment and the turn based play made me fall in love with the game. im not really crazy about chess, but X-com was a fun game of chess for me. im not too sure if i will like UFO:Defense because of this. im thinking that the more realistic environment combined with the more real-time game play might not appeal to me like the chess-like gameplay qualities of X-com. dont get me wrong, im still very interested in the game, i do
that underdog site that everyone is talking about, what is it supposed to be? can you download free games on it or is it just reviews? i tried checking the site out, but &*$^ #@*%!!! i never seen so many pop-ups in my life! i checked the site out for a minute only and i then gave up! im not going to bother going there again unless there really is something worthwhile to download there.
i thought it was the laser pistol that generated the highest return in profit?
i thought that the metaverse doesnt hand out negative scores. isnt a 0 the lowest your supposed to go?
anyone ever tried that hex-editer cheat for the first 2 X-coms? the one where you can go into your saved games and give yourself 255 plasma cannons, and then go into the soilder stats and give them 255 speed, 255 accuracy and 255 psi ability? that editor was hilarious! i could get one soilder to scout out the entire map in 3 turns, and then get the other soilders to mind control every single alien the scout soilder sees! :D
there is an auto-survey? and all this time i been moving the bugger around myself!
i think Ad Aware and SpyBot both did the trick, but im not sure which one got rid of the pop-ups. its been 2 days about, and no pop-up yet :)
