right now im playing on painfull, and it seems to be working pretty well. i have good relations with all the AI's. i was giving everyone -including minors, 1 influence point almost every turn. its the same game where the drengins turned around from demanding tribute, to now saying that they want to snuggle with me.

i know 1 influence point is worth nothing, but it seems to improve my relationships with the AI's. my diplomatic abilities arent anything special, i pick the pacifist party (pop and moral bonus i belive), i pick moral and planet quality bonuses, and i have diplomatic translators, and any bonuses i end up picking up through research -but nothing special.

im just wondering if anyone else has had success with this, more or less to see if what im doing actualy works or if it is just my imagination. just in the past 2 or 3 games i played, i have started to give gifts of just 1 influence point to the AI's that are hostile to me, and i have found that it actually brings the relationship up a notch. if the AI is "hostile", it becomes "cool" after i give them the 1 influence point. in the game im playing right now, on painfull, i

i played a mixture when i first started, im now trying to become as evil as possible, right now im "chaotic evil", i want to make it too "very evil" eventually. the reason why i picked evil in my games is because i like it when the drengins tell me that they want to snuggle me! :D actually the real reason why im trying to make my metaverse allignment evil has more to do with the metaverse then anything. i noticed that the majority of the players pick good allignments, with

wow, we do! i wasnt expecting that. the names kinda funny, namely since his name is "Tikatt", and in the city where i live in, there is a cfl football team named the "tiger cats", and everyone calls them "TiCats" for short. this city is pretty big about its teams too, so you hear people saying "TiCat" everywhere. now every time i hear hear someone say "TiCat", im going to think of "Tikatt", our new recruit. LOL

the Gonegolders empire is an empire no one hears about anymore, i really wonder why they have so many people with a "0" score. maybe 99 is the limit to the number of members in an empire, if so, they should deleat all the 0's to make room for active players.

ps. anyone feel like joining the "Illuminati"??? if you look at the metaverse at only the empires that have 3 or less people in it, we are actually in 1st place! LOL (of course, once someone else joins, we wont have that standing anymore)

did you notice that our empire actually went up a notch during the race even though no one submitted a game? im not sure how much we moved up or when, but we did move up to 13th place. im guessing that some people from the empires that are not in the big 3, but ahead of our empire, got recruited into one of the big 3 empires. i dont know what empire(s) fell below ours, but im pretty sure the illuminati did move up a spot.

no, not like a death star. moving an entire cast-away planet or a large astroid around would require too much work. instead, its moduals would have a greater effect then those on a regular starbase, and i guess since the starbase is on a big mass of minerals and metals, maybe they should be allowed to build ships just like planets -except that it takes much longer and much more expensive to build them. it would also mean that they wouldnt need constructors to build a modual. of course this w

astroids -that another thing that they should have added. they would only be able to support a very small population, but they would provide the minerals and metals to make extra-large starbases, where the modules on it would have a much greater effect then the regular non-astroid starbases. too late to put in this version of GalCiv, but maybe in GalCiv 2? with the cast-away planets, maybe just ignore the gas giants, that way the escape velocity wouldnt be too great. i remember reading something about "cast away planets" some time ago, where a planet would get ripped out of its orbit around a star, and it would pretty much end up just drifting by itself in deep space. of course the planet would be very difficult to detect, since it would be in deep space, away from any stars, and also everything would be in a state of deep freeze on the planet -but, it would be neat to have these in the game! of course these planets would be inhospitable, but they could be

i did it! i was right for both bets i placed! i was correct that Staffa would reach 100,000 first, and that G.R.O.S.S. would reach 1,000,000 first! now i have to think of a more difficult bet now, how about betting on what the empire lineup will be on Sun August 10th at 11:59 PM for the top 5 empires? or maybe betting on what the players in position 4,5 and 6 to see who will reach 1 million first? anyways, this will require some thought, i will have to study the metaverse some mor

my suggestions: -space dust and gas clouds, where sensors arent very effective, so that way you can park a ship or starbase in the cloud to have it hidden from the other AI's. -a lot more minor civs. right now, they tend to dissapear fairly early in the game -dont let the AI's know where the resources and habitable planets are, let the search for them. -have preferences for the AI, such as: would rather own lots and lots of small cheap ships / would rather own a few big, e

*** UPDATE *** Fellowship of the Ring...........77364.5 points away G.R.O.S.S........................95869.4 " " Mid-Western Confederation.......305030.2 " " looks like Mid-Western Confederation is out of the race for 1 Million, there still is a small chance they might win, but it doesnt look like it. Fellowship of the Ring is doing pretty good, they covered aprox. half of the points they needed to get since this thread got started.

so there is only 2 differnt star colours that matter then? yellow for higher chance of habitable planets, and purple for higher influence, and the rest doesnt matter, right? one thing that would be neat is to have dyson sphere's in the game. of course this make the game unbalanced, whatever player that is lucky enough to get one would have an unreal advantage over everyone. maybe it could be researved for special "arena" type games, where the galactic map is not random, but made. pu
"X Race discovers some technology that will make them more powerful over time, but take them out now".
-i know this event happens also in the lower difficulties, i believe i got this event when i first played a game in cakewalk. i had this event several times infact, and all the times it was for some minor AI. i never saw the point in trying to take them out, the civ would never give me problems after the event. its not as if it makes them more agressive or anything.<b

looks like something happend last night that i missed, Mid-Western Confederation actually lost 23525.5 points! maybe someone got recruited from the other 2 empires? The Fellowship of the Ring advanced a lot since yesterday evening, they gained 62902.7 points since the last time i checked.
