By the way, Dr. Debakey invented open-heart surgery.

Tex, someone out there is the person you thought you had before. Heck, there's probably a dozen of 'em, even in Hawaii. You'll find one, or he'll find you, sooner or later. And while you may feel fragile or devastated or cracked right now, know that you are no more broken overall than anybody else. You may have issues, you may be a lot to handle sometimes, but you're really just on par with any other person looking for a steady relationship.
Not sand, sugar! If they sleep with exposed skin, their body heat will melt the sugar and they'll wake up glued to the sheets. Bwahaha! Happy new year and all that!
You forgot "Abecedarian" in your list of people to whom the article may apply.
Also, FireFox has its own set of skins available. Primarily they just change the appearance of the toolbar buttons, but that's exactly what doesn't get changed by WB, so you can get everything changed if you want to.
Merriam-Webster agrees that "deet" is a word. Clearly its etymology stems from the initials of the chemical name, combined with a need to distinguish itself from Delirium Tremens, and it is a rather recent formation (mid-to-late 20th century), but it does seem to qualify as a full-fledged word nevertheless.
In my experience, many liberals only really care about the "truth" if it supports their side of the story. Other facts are either distorted or outright ignored. Replace the word "liberals" with "conservatives" and the statement is still just as valid. Replace it with "people" for a good general view of
Let me ask you this, mismos: If the government knew that a group of angry young male Mexicans with shaved heads and tattoos on their scalps planned to blow up an INS building in Texas, would they therefore have cause to do a strip-search on a middle-aged blonde Canadian lady crossing the border at Niagara Falls?
Hey TW, hope you had a fine trip and are having a much warmer time of it than we are in Minnesota. (It's +10 or so right now, but wind chill is down to the -30s....)
Here's a little poem that I wrote for Krystal on her first birthday (which was just 3 days ago...) Happy birthday, Krystal, dear! You've filled our hearts with so much cheer; We can't believe the year is done And you are ready to turn one! Happy birthday, darling child! We loved you the first time you smiled. Even when you c
Thanks, mig! I'll post pics and stuff soon! It was a great time. Okay, so let's see.. 1/ Most desired: a winning lottery ticket. (And I'm talking Lotto here, not $5 scratch-n-win crap.) 2/ Least desired: an aneurysm. 3/ best prior: The only gift I remember that really stands out was a GI Joe action tower. Now THAT was a cool toy. 4/ strangest: Hmmm... couldn't really say. 5/ best given: A snowblower.
I'm going to answer this one eventually but it will probably be next week... I really should be packing right now!
I'll be thinking positive thoughts on your behalf, Tex! And I'll be sure to post pictures when I get back, too.
looking forward to meeting you and your family Really? Wow, that's cool! I expect to see some photos!
the virtual birds will eat it, blow up and Die! Cool, fireworks too! Thanks, everybody, I expect that we will have our usual fabulous time. (This is actually my fourth trip to Vegas; it's always fun.)
So, just in case anybody here would miss me (though it hardly seems likely), I'll be leaving on Sunday morning for about a week. Probably won't be doing any internetting during that time, because I'll be in VEGAS, Baby! Gettin' married and havin' a good ol' time! Ping-pong all day, Party all night! Okay, actually I'm lying about that party bit. It's qui
Tex, everybody reacts to stress in their own way... there's lots of adjusting to be done to deal with some kinds of stress, so it's not really surprising that you did some things that were outside your normal range of behavior. We're all rooting for you, no matter what. Hope to hear more from you soon!
In an ideal work environment, "Every file on your workstation" should consist of NOTHING. All the data files that you work with should be stored on the network. If you're working on a file while you're disconnected from the network (since this is a laptop), that's fine, but you should synchronize it with your networked copy ASAP after returning. The only stuff that should reside locally on your system is program files.
Actually, in the second picture, you look a lot like Larry Hodges (not that you'd know who he is, unless you're active in the table tennis community).
If you can't cross your living room without kicking toys out of the way, you might be a parent. If you often step on cheerios that are strewn around the kitchen table, it might be because you're a parent. If all your photos are of the same person, you might be a parent. If your idea of "curling up with a good book" involves either (a) more than 2 pages in a single sitting, or (b) reading slowly and out loud, you might be a parent. If yo
Here in Minnesota, we need a few extra lines: String is Frozen solid: It was raining, but then the temperature dropped below freezing. String is pointing straight outward, or upward: There's a tornado nearby. String is underwater: It's flooding. String is an eerie, flickering greenish color: It's night and the Aurora borealis is shining.
Why is it that people feel compelled to point out the shortcomings of "the other side"? Speaking as a relatively neutral person, I think I can honestly say that what Clinton received in criticism was not significantly less or more than what Bush has received, in total. I do think that the criticism of Bush is rather more vituperative, but that's because his actions have had much wider repercussions than a mere blow job or simple bombing run.
Or even adopting a child herself, since according to the article her new child is not genetically related to her anyway. Why put yourself through pregnancy at 56 just to have a child that's not really even yours (biologically)?
Where have you been hiding? Schools and other governmental institutions all over the country are being forced to eliminate any religious reference whatsoever, especially at Christmas time. Check out Tongue-Tied (Holiday Cheer archive) for a few recent occurrances.
I used to go to Hell quite regularly.... Hell was the name of my BBS. Ran it for 9 years (1991-2000), until call volume dropped so far that I wasn't even checking it myself more than twice a week. Darn Internet.
