It helps to have the same morality. Good aliens tend to like you when you are good. With evil it's different. They tend to hate you when you are inferior (military and economically). Give them gifts (technologies or money or ships (but not your old crappy ones)) every four of five turns.
#5 by Citizen Chipperoo - 12/29/2004 5:30:29 PM I'd also caution you about using the cheats. If you choose to use them, don't try to submit the score to the metaverse.
Yes I forgot to mention that.
#6 by Citizen Grinch2020 - 12/30/2004 12:44:25 AM Ive never been real big on cheats unless I have beat a game and want to play around with it.
Accordint to Frogboy CTRL+L is not cheating. It's just a quick start. But it's still impossible
Which setting do you use? With "rare" this can happen. Otherwise I guess it is statistics. You just had an unlucky start. Planet events are very rare. Most frequently it happens when a new minor race appears. The maximum population is 100 Bil. and the maximum growth is 200 Mil. The population growth when the moral on this planet is >= 54%. When the moral reaches 100% the growth is doubled from usual 3% to 6%. This is why it is important to have 100% morale at the begi
It's the same with starbases and resources - some of them are shown after loading, and some are not.
I have recognized this as well. I don't know if CariElf is aware of this problem. My workaround is to mark the positions of ressouces. Either with a rally point or manually on a paper.
There are different events. e.g. colonization events and random events. In some games I don't get any random events. In others half a dozend. Colonization events appears about every third planet. But never for the first planet you colonize. Thus with two planets (Earth + one) you never will get one. Personally I would not get any mod events until I have got a feeling for the original events. But when you start to get the same event again and again it's very nice to get the mod
Hi Moser the Alchemist (ret.), just a short off topic question. Can you explain me why some users have "(retired)" and "(active)" attached to their alias? Thanks
Welcome Grinch2020 In the Encyclopedia you find some usefull stuff like the manual, a FAQ and some articles about the game mechanics. There is some good information in the Strategies Forum. Just one example http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=185422 Don't miss the sticky thread from Frogboy (he's the boss of Stardock) about Morale. Very helpfull is the side from JavaScout (check Fansites in the Encyclopedia). I love GC, in fact it is my favo
Frohe Weihnachten, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Noël heureux for everyone And yes my wishes are for all. For Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Nonbelievers or whatsoever your confession might coincidentally be. I wish you a happy family celebration. And when you don't have a family I still wish you the very best.
Wow, thats another example how responsive Stardock is. The problem is already fixed. The icons do now speak with me :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: Thank you very much P.S. For "Posted via Stardock Central" and for the "5 Games submitted, 10 Games submitted etc." there is still no Title in the Forum. For the latter there is neither alt= nor title=. And in the Metaverse Top Player list the icons do not have a title as well. Just for completeness. For me it is already great wha
This is the end of micro management. It's time to be in mourning .... Just kidding :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: Thank you very much CariElf and Stardock
#92 by Senator CariElf - 12/13/2004 8:53:40 PM In GC2 there will not be wasted production/money. The unused money will go to your treasury.
:CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: Is this true for the research queue as well? :d
Very well said Terl. I would like to have a look at the GalCiv 2 pages as well. But I accept the decision of Stardock. It helps to calm the noise on the boards. You can't discuss a new development with hundreds of "experts". It makes sense to reduce it to the most active fans. And it is fine to give them a benefit. I would like to buy AP but I have two very limited resources. That's time and money ;) But at long sight I will renew my investment in GC. That's for sure
bump Any idea how GC2 will handle the queue waste? :HOT:
Hi NewfyScotian, did you verify that the AI looses the advantage in the same turn and that you get it in the same turn? AFAIK the change is not in effect in the same turn. But I'm not sure. Maybe this is the answer for the initial post of ProudCanadian Thanks
I like the minors. But you can switch them off. There is an option in the expansion "Altarian Prophecy" (you should really get it, it's worht the money!). But you can use it in stand alone version as well. To do so, edit \Data\prefs.ini and change the value of StartWithMinorRaces=1 to StartWithMinorRaces=0
1. You get the techs with good alignement. My favorite is "The Better Way" http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/goodcivtech.htm Good AIs tend to like you and to help you. 2. Certified mods should not generate anomalous scores.
When you have five ships with four movements each you can attack up to 20 times. But when they are stacked in a fleet you can only attack four times, right? This was my experience from my first tests. Thus I never used fleet attack ... Is that correct or did I get something wrong?
Military ressources are very powerfull. Generally the game does not round but simply cuts the decimals. It's the same with PQ.
Good points from Peace Phoenix. Here are some more - at the beginning increas the tax rate as high as you can with 100% morale (i.e. approval), decrease the rate when morale gets below 100% - yes, don't buy anything, build it whenever possible. e.g. start 100% spending by 100% military until you got all the colony ships you need - after that build the improvements without maintenance first (Soil, Habitat, Banking) - do not build manufacturing improvements esp. Fusion Power Plant
And yes, I know that it makes it easier to move them around on the map!
As far I know that's it. The features mentioned by Peace Phonix are AFAIK not related to fleets. It's standard when you have more than one ship in the same square.
Hi, in this forum we have all these nice icons attached to the nick. But you can't see what they mean unless you permanentely look at the legend. But even that does not help for the empires. First I thought it is a problem of Gecko / Mozilla / Firefox / Netscape. But now I found what's wrong. The forum is optimized for IE and IE is not W3C compliant. IE does show a tooltip but other browsers don't. Please add title= to all of the icons in the HTML code. alt= is not suf
Hi Philip, you have my sympathy. Many of us made the same experience ;) It's even much worse when you have children :sniff!: But at the end it is possible to find a compromise :CONGRAT: A set of rules that works for both of you, like one evening a week, or not after 2 a.m. etc. It's your hobby and you have the right to have a hoppy.
by Citizen Bill Ko - 11/18/2004 11:04:25 PM I just stopped by to thank Cari for still supporting GalCiv this far past its end of life cycle!
Yes, CariElf does a great job. :CONGRAT: Stardock still sells GC for the full price. A frind of my bought it not long ago. It was much easier to convince him when he saw that it is still supported :HOT: Maybe we have a chance that she drops over at the code for the technology costs calculation ;p
#6 by Citizen Martin the Dane - 11/28/2004 11:33:01 AM Hmm seems at least one of the mayor (imo) bugs are still there: The incorrect reserach point calculation. ... Will this bug be fixed or will we have to live with it?
For the calculation of the turns needed the system uses what you spend on research in this turn and what you got on free research in the last turn. This way the system tells you that you can finish expensive research proj
