Ship battles take veeeeery long (minutes for two ships). And this is a 3.2 GHz machine with hyperthreading and 2GByte RAM! The machine is totally blocked and you can watch the ships to turn towards each other and the bullets moving in very slow motion. It's a bussiness computer with Intel 82865G graphics. I updated with the newest drivers from Intel and the newest DirectX version from Microsoft. It did not help at all. Switch of SoundFX did not help either. Th

I started with a GC demo, too. But this was a long time ago on OS/2 ;p . It was clear for me that I had to get the Windows version and I will get GC2 the second time (I already have GC2 Gold at home :d And yes, it costs a lot of sleep >:( When you are looking for an empire don't foget to visit The Jedi Republic http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 as well.

When you buy anything it costs e.g. (for a Colony Ship) 350BC + 16BC for 8 months Thas means that you pay 350 immediately and 16 BC for the next 9 (that's strange but Stardock counts very often like this :SURPRISED: ) month. This costs much more than building it with the regular production capacity. This costs only 50BC for a colony ship (check the explanation how to do this from above). It's very rare that I buy something. e.g. when a colony flipped to me,

Get everything you can which boost influence. Most likely the AI got some influence resources. Try to grab some by yourself or trade for them You need to build influence boosters like Res.Lab and Embassy. Research techs with +10 influence and try to build the influence wonders and trade goods. Check JavaScout's excellent site for details http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/index.htm [Message Edited]

Sure alliance win is possible. The difference is just 10.000 points and thus you simply have to play longer on a bigger map. That's about the same you get for a "military win" when you convert all aliens by culture. Unfortunately gigantic maps are not playable on my old computer. But 22.000 instead of 58.000 for the same game is ridiculous. :sniff!: And I researched all techs, including the mods from Icho Tolot. I build all these Excaliburs and wonders etc. I just did not want to kill

What do I need to do, to get a promotion? I don't want to stay a "Commander" for the rest of my life ;) Sure you need to submit games. But what does count? The number of games, the difficulty, the score ... What is the fastest career path?

Yesterday I finished a game three times in the same turn after reloading. 1st research the last tech 2nd ally with the last alien 3rd conquer my good friends and destroy all their ships I was a bit shocked about the ridiculous differences in the scoring system :notsure: Remember it was the identical game. Solely the last turn was different! These are the results: Technology - score is about 22.000 Alliance - score is about 48.000 Mi

Yesterday the Altarians surrendered to me in a MASO game. They were evil and at war with the Dregin (good). I was saintly, too but not at war with them and had a lot of trade with them. Before the evil Torians surrendered to the Dregin and they were at war with them, too :p Thus it's difficult to tell what will happen ...
The pq 40% trigger only works till a certain time (if i remember correctly) At the time the Omega Tech is available, and considering a normal reseach rate, there should not be a problem with the trigger, even with using the Terraforming pack (dunno who made it).
Thanks, Icho. :HOT: I would really appreciate when someone could approve that with a successfull submittion. :HOT: Hi Moser the Alchemist, please report your results.

Hi :) when you got used to the game and start submitting your results you should have a look at the empire pages (check the Metaverse buttom from above). It's just one click to join an empire. Empires rival simply by collecting the points of their members. I just joined The Jedi Republic http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 but there are many other nice empires as well. Surf a bit on their sites and in the Empire forum here on this site http://www.galciv

Additioal reasons to build a starbase are - extend your range - increase trade while the mini frighters are in the sector - attack with a terror star (destroys the star) - flip other planets via culture (you can even flip allied planets

Hi Icho Tolot, do you use PQ picks and PQ party bonus, i.e. do you get above 40% PQ ability? I use 5% pick and 5 % party. I read of the 40% limit. Because of that I modified your mods to stay below 40%. Thus I can't tell if there would be a problem.

Hi CariElf, when you are looking for something to work in ;) I would be very happy when you could fix the calculation of the remaining research months. Currently it uses the free research of the last month and not the free research of the current month. Thus it is usually wrong once you got some research abilities. The information must already be somewhere burried in the code. Thus it should not be too hard to fix it. I just wrote the same here http://www.gal
I didn't write the code, and the person who did isn't working here anymore.
You alway have a hard time when you try to explain your manager why code should be maintainable and what is necessary to achieve it :p It's one thing that the program does what was asked for by the spec. But it's even more important that it is possible to maintain it. My deepest sympathy for CariElf who does a great job :CONGRAT: I know it by heart since I have inherited many code by
What is the draginol event?
The draginol are another minor race. They are announced in a special event. After some month they take over your best star system. They are very rich and powerfull. But when you have evacuated the population of your star system in time into transports, you can trade with them and get all the money they have at the point they occur. After that you can use your transports and invade the planet. Thus you have nearly no losses but get a lo

Falconhurst2, a main economy problem for beginners are leases. Don't buy anything. It's much cheaper to produce it by yourself. Buy only in very urgent cases, e.g. a class 26 planet in between you and an alien and you need to be first. You should concentrate on building colony ships. Set military and spending to 100% until you got enough! I don't agree with chanbrothers. Your morale needs to be at 100% at any rate for your majority of planets until the population growth cap (2

I read http://www.galciv.com/docs/undocs.html once more and found 6. production cap for free production Starts with 3 time PQ for free production Again the question: does it count separately for social and military? e.g. you spend 70% mil. and 30% soc. Does the cap affect both ore only mil. if mil. exceeds the border?
