I will not play GC for a while since my son introduced me to http://www.metin2.de It is a Oriental Action MMORPG. Originally it comes from Korea. It is free for everybody. Ther also exists a international http://www.metin-2.com and US http://www.metin2.us version. I run it on my Linux box with Wine. I will step by this forum from time to time. Have fun. Yes, each time you load a game you start a diplomacy event for the AIs. When at that time of the game one AI is very convinced that it is a good idea to start a war there is nothing you can do about it ;p Another disadvantage is that they gain additional technology trade which can make it very hard to keep track in the technology race. Unfortunately I can't give you good advice how to rescue your empire. One chance could be to buy peace via gifting technologies or even a planet. But this is very hard once you are fallen behind. Try to re pacify your direct neighbors first. This way you have some kind of buffer between you and your enemies. When you fell past -500 BC spending is suspended. Thus the spending slider is out of function until you have > -500 BC. In the previous round you went into debt because you spend too much. This round your spending rate is 0% and thus your income is > 0. You debt is reduced and once you restart spending at the same rate from before you will go into debt again. Does this explain your problem? Or another idea. Buying ships and improvements is very expensive. The leases can dump you deeper

I really appreciate Stardocks performance optimizations. I have a very limited budget and either I buy new hardware or software. Usually I buy only games on bargain-sale. New games often wouldn't run on my machines anyway. I have only one exception: Stardock! I bought GC2 Gold for OS/2, GC1, AP and GCII for the full price because I love these games and they happened to run on my machine. You can't raise the relationship more than two levels within three month. You have to wait before you can make the next presents. Allies make this process much more difficult because they might lure you in the war before you can raise relationships enough. Maybe you have to end the war (usually you can pay ap the mightier party to do so). Better not to make any allies unless in the last round in case you want to make an diplomacy win.

Blue is much better now but still far from optimal. I just selected all the text so it was highlighted. Then it showed up fine. Usually it would work. But not for this text.
