Quack: no doubt the PC game will be worse; moviewise, loved the visuals but found the plot/script a bit ponderous but I tend to enjoy most SF - last 5 years a golden age for SF/fantasy fans on the big screen in some ways. Must also agree with Kiwi Greg re uni - make sure you get your ticket, then party and play after! (If I can say that without sounding like your parents...)

You've just got to go the demo route these days - its the only way to be sure. It takes inhuman patience and nerves of steel to wait for demos, but I don't have the $$ to stuff around. Interestingly, my local video stores are now stocking PC games to hire - even though it's mostly overnight, you can still put a game through its paces on a solid Sat/Sun play session. I must say I don't find any single site/mag to have a definitive quality about their stuff, although The Wargamer and Games Domain

Seems to be another scoring 'correction' taking place on the Metaverse. I play at the simpler levels and the changes do reach down to us shrimps, but some of the score corrections must have the better players grinding their teeth....

How can you possibly join an empire with all those little coloured balls? I mean, by the time you went to all those links and read all those posts, there's be no tine for gameplaying, now, would there?
Kiwi Greg: I got really excited about Hearts of Iron, as I'd enjoyed Europa Universalis, but the release version I found to be a pretty ordinary experience (which in fact was the case with EU out of the box). I left it then, but kept an eye on the boards, hoping for a patch, as I think Patric and co have been just as good as Stardock in trying to improve the game and communicate with customers. The boards seemed to erupt with crap about the game at times (and not only the ones at Paradox). I've
