Besides, some idiot would just hold the map upside-down anyway.
And you know where you'd end up, don't you? You'd come south, to us.....the Great Southern Lands....greater ships than yours have been wrecked on our shores...mwhhaaaa....
We will soon have more replies than the bug report thread.
This simply means there are more bugs inside GROSS than outside it, Coffeedragon! ;)
I realise that I am now the official poster boy for 'GalCiv A-holes Anonymous'
This sounds pretty painful stuff - I don't think this, and I feel you wouldn't post your concerns if you didn't care about improving the game. We could talk endlessly about communication skills and how best to put the message, but the truth is that any movie, game or other form of entertainment is owned and presented by the CREATOR. The customer then decides if they like it. You don't get your
Once Galciv becomes widely available in the Southern Seas, the Top 3 is ours!
Little does Pontius know that in fact GalCiv is not yet on the shelves at EB and similar stores in Australia. I got my copy at a shop that air freights them over...my local EB is promoting the game due on shelves around mid June in Melbourne! The Antipodes forces will eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate! Quack: I am NOT a comp sci guy - but hyperthreaded computer gin rummy?! LOL

Quack: no doubt the PC game will be worse; moviewise, loved the visuals but found the plot/script a bit ponderous but I tend to enjoy most SF - last 5 years a golden age for SF/fantasy fans on the big screen in some ways. Must also agree with Kiwi Greg re uni - make sure you get your ticket, then party and play after! (If I can say that without sounding like your parents...)
But at heart I am a red wine drinker
Me too, minus the snob bit! Went to the UK in December '02 on hols - interesting to note Aussie reds turning up in lots of clubs/restr being touted as something special. Aussies need not fear the quality of our wines on the international stage, I think. Go see XMen2 - worth it for the special effects alone! Have you checked out Matrix reloaded yet?

Now Gerakken, don't take this stuff TOO seriously...but this is the player Pontius eulogised in his post: "The Babe Ruth of Gal Civ"! I'm sure GROSS has many nasty habits....and I suppose I shall acknowledge resilience as one of them :p Chris: why don't you just head up to the Hunter Valley? Closer and cheaper!

You've just got to go the demo route these days - its the only way to be sure. It takes inhuman patience and nerves of steel to wait for demos, but I don't have the $$ to stuff around. Interestingly, my local video stores are now stocking PC games to hire - even though it's mostly overnight, you can still put a game through its paces on a solid Sat/Sun play session. I must say I don't find any single site/mag to have a definitive quality about their stuff, although The Wargamer and Games Domain
Hey, are you any relation to Fatso the Fat-Arsed Wombat?
Ha! I'm not sporty enough to keep up with Fatso! Although, I am a bit of a muddle-headed wombat at times (now there's a childhood reference if anyone out there's old enough....) Does TheQuack imply a medical connection?
Space Wombat mate, aren't you excited?? You are number 25 in the world!!*
Thanks Chris, I needed that!! I'll get stuck into it! LOL TheQuack: It doesn't matter - I'm from Melb, and am actually partial to a Redback (which is W.A., I think). Pontius: you are on VERY dangerous ground here........
Why is Rainbow warriors insulting to Kiwi's?
The 'Rainbow Warrior' was the flagship of Greenpeace (the environmental org) and anchored in a NZ harbour, when French operatives (working, IIRC, for a branch of the French Govt.) blew it up and sank it! Mucho bad blood over this incident - can't remember what happened to the perpetrators.
Hmm that name has very negative connotations for kiwis...
LMAO!!....a lesson in how to piss off kiwis! Still Kiwi Greg, it would inspire you against the French contingent of the Euro Empire.... Greetings to TheQuack - and don't worry about the beer, mate...these Americans have no idea how to recognise real beer, let alone know what it tastes like.
I initially liked EUII but got bored with its lack of character, and I worked out the economic way to beat the game which sucked the fun out of it for me (ie my fault- not the game's). I read a review which said HoI also lacked character so I never got it.
I understand that response; I was never completely comfortable with EU as my knowledge of the history of that time isn't great. I came in to these games partly through wargaming (from the simple Panzer General on upward

Kiwi Greg: I got really excited about Hearts of Iron, as I'd enjoyed Europa Universalis, but the release version I found to be a pretty ordinary experience (which in fact was the case with EU out of the box). I left it then, but kept an eye on the boards, hoping for a patch, as I think Patric and co have been just as good as Stardock in trying to improve the game and communicate with customers. The boards seemed to erupt with crap about the game at times (and not only the ones at Paradox). I've
