can anyone indiacte how much actual RAM the game needs to run ok? (i've got 512M, but there's an awful lot of services in Windows XP)

what i would really, really like is for the diplomacy AI to be moved from passive to active, with the AI given the same diplomatic opportunities as the player - thus a siutation where, say, a militarily weak AI player will come to you for an alliance. as a player you turn it down because it might draw you into a war that you're not ready for, but your senate votes for the alliance because you alignment is good. an active diplomacy AI will mitigate the need for random events because the AI will g
i believe a desktop ships with the game
you think this is addicitve. just wait till the metaverse starts up.....
Q: What about Australia/New Zealand? A: Auran is handling it down under. their website indicates a march release. me, i az pre-ordered the collector's edition from stardock (as well az havin' it on TG subscription, and da beta, but i iz crazy). $10US shipping to Oz.
congratulations to everyone at Stardock. very exciting
congrats one and all. i iz exhausted and i didn't even do anything!
i'm glad you can keep techs as you level up - one of my pet hates is level games where you have to start from scratch each level. are you balancing the campaign so that the player gets through the whole tech tree? that'd be nice
an Aloha out to Evil Steve...
backatcha GangofMao :HOT: haven't been here for a while. GC2 beta is takin' up all da time :sniff!:
and your problem? all terrans have been mandated by the CariElf Fan Club to start in the Cari system, and pay taxes in chocolate, coffee and dew. this is what all beta-testers have been clamouring for since build 0.01.002.005/8. i s'pose you've been just reading all those tactical combat threads
have a great, safe festive break everyone!
Would you then only be able to build one Capital per planet (economic, political, manufacturing, etc.)? i reckon it might be interesting if that was the case. what would you then choose?
i'd just be happy with some algorithm that A only accepts a peace treaty if ally B will accept a peace treaty - or - if A accepts a peace treaty it automatically breaks alliance with B. as a player you can then just break your own alliances to avoid war.
obviously on a small map with few habitable planets you don't get many tiles which nerfs your ability to build wonders etc. some suggestions (probably stupid) follow: 1. scale terraforming techs with map size/habitable planets (ie small map = more powerful terraforming techs = more tiles for each individual planet) 2. consider making the manufacturing/economic/technological capital tiles an upgrade to the colony tile (with appropiate colony image), thus individually disting
the only other question is have you downloaded the multimedia?
i again have been thinking along the same lines - we just need some kinda *file manager* style list with the current improvement being the "directory" with a "+" to click on if you need to access a list of previous improvements. this would also be good in the ship design window withh all those weapons techs.
I think it'd be great if we could add extra logistics bonuses onto the big ships (maybe as they gain experiance), i've been thinking along the same lines - some kind of "supply" module that can be incorporated into a ship that reduces the logistic points of ships by one point *(tiny becomes 1, small becomes 2), encouraging a mix of big and smal
in the options/audio tab, you'll see sliders set to zero? - it is difficult abut not impossible to drag them with the mouse. unfortunately, the sliders have a max of 10000 (!) so clicking them along 1 point at a time is tiresome. try the drag. if it's something else, i'm at a loss..........
still having the occasional load where the ship (usually prefab constructor/freighter) icon is loaded in 2d not 3d (if that makes sense) ie unwrapped. used to occasionally happen with planets too. still also occasionally getting a missing ship icon in the blue square that is lodged in the starport screen and planet view PM 1GHZ, 512MB, Intel Extreme 2 (64MB Shared), DirectX9c
You two do realize that you can adjust the setting for when the tactical map displays, don't you? I think it's new to 4D, but I cranked mine down, because while I think the game looks beautiful, sometimes I like the clean simplicity of tactical mode. <img src="smiles/Congrats.gif" bord
i think the tactical screen need work - there could be an opportunity here to do something insanely aesthetic - much like a board in a board game - it might make the map a little clearer, and encourage players to zoom in and out more often? an inverse star map (ie black stars/white space)??? just a thought.......insane of course
i was hoping that the tactical map would come in earlier, but in 4d it does, in fact, come in later, making it less useful and causing a real slow down on low-end graphics if you choose to play in zoomed out non-tactical mode. i would like to see some kind of choice on where the tactical map kicks in - i tend to play most of the game in tactical mode, but need to clearly distinguish ship icons. hope this makes sense
