from the Intel site: Intel® graphics products do not have hardware support for T&L. In most games, transform and lighting calculations can be performed on the processor with acceptable performance. A small number of games that specifically check for hardware T&L support may fail to run. i iz confused now..........
Evil Roy
Roy, if you can run the beta, you'll be fine. *sigh* the goddess has spoken. hats off. well if that's the case then you *should* publish that the game can be played on intel chipsets (from 852/855GM/GME onwards) because i reckon there's a market out there for laptop u
would you like me to dust-off me win98 box, frogboy?
minimum requirement 32MB Hardware T & L? does this mean the end for intel graphics users like meself?
i was on singularity drive (Attack 3) with Point Defence III (Defence 4), their defence was Point Defence III (defence 4), but the arcaen ship from memory was Beam 1, Missile 9, Mass Driver 0, Shield 2, Point Defence 7, Armour 0 (i'm having a hard time seeing how they can fit this on one ship - i'm assuming that this includes any military modifiers - my current game also has individual AI ships (medium) with attacks as high as 17, but not technologically superior to me). the square root rule com
i having a bit of a prob with the defence calc at the moment: the AI appears to be using the square root to negate all weapons attacks eg last game i designed a mass driver/point defence ship against the arcaeans, because the arcaens were using missiles/point defence. however they're point defence was so high that it completely negated my mass driver attack, even though they had no armour. is this a strategic subtlety? or should the defence calc be fiddled with? <img src="smiles/Hmm
i'm glad terraforming will be made more potent. any thoughts on a PotentialPQ for a planet rather than a PQ? eg you settle a planet that is rated say 16, but only 10 tiles are usable, with the remaining 6 already colour coded for the specific terraforming tech - that way you know the potential of your planet at the start, rather than unlocking it as you go? just a thought.
try not to buy immediately. set spending to 100% and taxation to around 40%, and depending on whether you need to build a ship fast (in a competitive environment, it's sometims good to set military to 100% and bang out a few colony ships), perhaps leave the military/social/research sliders at 33%, 33%, 34% for a few turns. i generally build a couple of factories, the a couple of research labs, then food, morale etc. there will come a point when you don't need to build ships, so whack the points i
had an interesting moment when my fleet (1 ship, i troop carrier) invaded a torian planet and completely bypassed the torian fleet. captured planet with a torian fleet in orbit, but when the torians counter-attacked, the orbital fleet became mine - the fleet combat screen went orange in the background, which was kinda cool cos i could see all the missiles and shiled more clearly, but i'm sure is not the intent.......
UP event - planet x is now habitable who should get it? well ME of course, except the planet was Wisp and belonged to the Altarians and didn't come with a colony tile, so I couldn't do anything (well except kick the Altarian fleet out). perhaps event a little too random?
I don't get too excited by all the iterations of a laser... i'm still hoping that the iterations might become exclusive techs - ie research laser III, and they're yours, becoming your exclusive take on lasers - the game could then name the laser III after your race so that in the trade screen you up against Drengin Bolts or Arcaen Lightbeams et
it also works with intel graphic chipsets (855 and beyond) which is GOOD....
the reason i liked veteran hamp's report is because it nailed the tile question - i'd been asking myself the same thing - on the fertile planets i don't get the sense of strategy, of having to choose, of desperately seeking soil enhancement...
what if build time was based an an empire average rather than an individual planet?
good report mr hamp
There definitely won't be some sort of governor to auto upgrade ships. At some point, the player needs to actually play the game. We really don't want to put in governors that have their own AI in them. i'm finding at this stage that there's a lot of work involved in keeping ship techs up to date - i
access to the AI's ship and planets is not a bug, but a beta-testing tool
was wondering (yet again) whether size is more of a constant for individual tech types (making an auto upgrade style governor for each tech type more viable) and the new variable is *quality* which negates, has no affect, or increases hit points and also directly impacts on cost. but den i iz crazy az a loon.....
i have found the blue (human) ships on the tactical map can be washed out by the background nebula
mmm dunno about that. i know 4b can't load 4a games. are you poz that your save games are 4b?
Beta 4b will not work with saved games from beta 4a. check out the Beta 4b Arrives thread.....
AND MIGRATING ONES TOO!!
MORE MONSTERS MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
there is no multiplayer - just the metaverse (ie uploading scores into a league table) don't know if there's one or two disks but AP needs GC1 to play, I believe :)
they published the keys the wrong way round. try that. welcome to a world of SPACE MADNESS :)
