Given that it's so easy to zoom out on the main map, and that that view shows you planet quality, resources, starbases, anomolies, etc, I'm starting to question the need for the mini-map. If you could just zoom out on the main map and then have the options (like you do on the mini-map) to show autopilot, influence zones, etc, then why do you need the mini-map? </T

\ In the cases where GNN is reporting construction on several colonies, after viewing a colony and exiting view you are returned to the GNN window. Could GNN update to remove the colony you just viewed from the list? i agree

maybe minors could only be based on one planet, but be culturally strong/different, and therefore immune to influence. it would be good if minors added some +% to the galaxies trade, morale, economics etc, so that wiping them out would come at a cost to civs interested in exploiting them/dependant on them. this dependency could, of course, lead to another civ wiping attempting to wipe them out. i've suggested before that the minor could also 'different' to th eextent that they live on a planet w

Or give time reductions for "simple" upgrades such as just increasing existing parts to a higher level, instead of adding different ones entirely. I.e., upgrading a ship with missiles to Lasers V takes the full time, but upgrading one equipped with Lasers II to the same new model takes a reduced amount of time. i like this idea too (probably c

I've been mulling this from a different direction: VARIANT TECHNOLOGIES All modified weapon/defence types (ie Laser is base tech, Laser II to Laser VI are modified) are classed as variant technologies. Variant Technologies can be researched and/or gained by experience and/or gained by exploring anomolies, and/or randomly connected to other research (eg Laser plus Factories = Laser III). They may be available to all civilisations or they may be exclusive, leading to race sp

Frogboy: Look, Roy, I - how many years you been here, son? When you first arrived your strategy was beautiful. You coulda been another Technician, and those Anzacs we got you for an empire, they brought you along too fast. Evil Roy: It wasn't them, Frogboy, it was you. Remember that night in the Stardock chatroom, you came on-line and you said, "Roy, this ain't the Anzacs’ night. We're going for the price on the Galactic Guardians." You remember that? "This ain't the Anzacs’ night"!

completely understandable ramble. that's why i made me hours 9-5 and stuck to it. but then i'm what they call an 'inner-city slacker' "no-one pays you enough to have a heart attack" or "you're a long time dead" are the phrases that leap to mind, that and th eoffice dalek going "delegate!"

How about letting the user upgrade their stats when a new level is reached on a ship (ala RPGs), but you can only upgrade a stat that is <= 1. For example, a ship with MassDrivers:2 Shields: 1, and Armor:3 reaches level 2. The user gets 2 stat points to spend, but can only use it on the above stats, propulsion, range, or sensors (no 'suddenly the ship has lasers' nonsense

what difficulty are you on? the AI is normally given % bonuses (including economics) depending on difficulty level. also depends on trade (ie freighter routes) and also tech trades and tribute (BC's per month) and also whether they have an economic resource or 2 to plunder. whip their arse is wot i say ;)

depends if you like to be involved or you'd rather be 'surprised' by the full release. the current version is playable but with no real balance and lacks diplomacy etc. i believe the next beta (3b) may be only released to a 'select few', thus only leaving beta 4 for those that subscribe to TotalGaming.net. up to you ;)
