Yay it worked this time I' a little bit confused, but as long as it works .
Unfortunately mate, I have a 56 modem and twice it allowed me to resume, the third time, it started from scratch... I was not impressed!!! Anyone else suffering under the evil modem? ~SDC~

what else can I think of a man who, by his own admission, only reads the sports section of the newspaper. I'm from the UK, and after the whole shocking realisation that the Daily Mirror here printed a completely false claim about abuse of prisoners in Iraq and put thousands of lives at risk to sell new
Never mind, I sorted it myself Great tech support so far
I could use some help... for some reason when downloading the latest beta, I'm getting an error message on the Intro.avi file that says "incorrect file size" I've tried uninstalling the beta and reinstalling from scratch but same problem when I hit 33% Any help would be appreciated
Overall, 2003 U.S. sales of console games totaled $5.8 billion (186.4 million units) while computer games accounted for $1.2 billion (52.8 million units) in sales.
Kind of depends where the stats came from though Technician. Most market research companies canvas a certain range of companies or products. It's quite possible that the smaller local shops etc were not included. Were the stats from Store sales? If so then the Internet sales for downloadable games such as G
The title of the thread says you think StarDock is spyware, the first message you posted points a finger at SDMCP, I'm sure thats why Brad said what he said *shrug* You'll be lucky if Win 98SE is supported much longer, it's old, it's clunky. Half the time drivers are no longer released for it, so don't expect it to be supported forevermore, that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. I've used all the OS's now since 3.1 (cringe) and XP Professional is the best of the bunch. Its a damn
Oh yes, and please for the love of god don't copy MOO3 for Fleet Battles... it was terrible... might as well have been a cheap budget RTS game for the fun I had with that part of the game
I agree with SLW, why does Multiplayer have to factor into every game these days? I was pleased to see it appearing at the bottom of most peoples lists. I was thinking... what would be the point of Ship Design as things stand? We'd have to have a much different kind of combat system for that to work properly wouldn't we? Personally, I voted for a deeper Colony Management system, but would have voted for Fleet Battles as well, makes combat more fun than the old Civ style comba
Wasn't that what the last poll was for...? Between a Star Control or Might of Magic clone isn't it...?
LOL Never thought of it quite like that Star Pilot! LOL I like the idea of building a train of colony ships, could make them walk that way too, saves on fuel! [Message Edited]
True Star Pilot, but it's still rather unrealistic to be able to load "unlimited" colonists into a starship, especially when you can do this at the start of the game, but only carry 1000 soldiers. I've felt for a while that colony ships should have a top limit too. Plus when you think about it, the soldiers would most likely be in cryo too, considering how slow the Transports are, it can takes a game year or longer to reach some planets At the end of the day, I doubt this will
Hi Brett Hmmm the fact that you started to have Internet connecting problems might suggest a variant of the Blaster virus, although it could be several virus's working together at the end of the day, we suffer a great deal with all this where I work. Getting your PC virus scanned (and protected for the future) is a very good idea at this point, as I too believe that you've somehow gotten infected, and the fact that another PC is now doing the same sounds very VERY suspicious!
You are preaching to the converted, I just moved here. It's a nice enough place to live though.
Yeah stayed there for a while myself, it seemed a nice place, just kidding don't worry :)
we tend to forget the bad things and remember the good things...
That was pretty much what I was trying to get at I guess, how people seem to be complaining about GalCiv and comparing it to games years old. Trust me, I've replayed many old games I used to love, and the few that you can still get to run are not as good as your memory would have you believe! And as for the forum's tone, yeah it has degraded, the whole "I want and answer from StarDock and I want on
Please, I am posting this all over the place because I'm simply not getting an answer as I wait patiently. Will 1.21 address the in game (not Metaverse) scoring difficulties in regards to techs. If you save and reload, all previous techs researched are lost in the scoring. They will be reflected in the techs discovered, but only the techs researched after you loaded the saved game will be counted under techs researched! This left me with a whopping 1 tech researched and 143 discovered in my
Have they added Adelaide onto the map yet Blueroach? They don't usually bother with villages on most maps ;-) Hehehe I'm thinking of going 64Bit myself, but will wait a little while until it becomes more mainstream I think, mainly because I don't want to end up doing the same thing at home that I do at work, fault analysis :notsure:
Yep I've had The Terraformer crash every time I've tried to research it too :notsure: Something else I've noticed is that if I get a general event that say for instance increases the economy, if I save while this is in effect, then reload the game, although the event still seems to be active, the effect of it seems to have vanished, so I'm not getting the increased economical benefit. Trust me, I noticed when I reloaded and was actually losing 450 per turn when before I was ga
Send me please serial Object Desktop & Gal Civ
I don't think anyone should be giving you serials for anything by the sounds of it Just say no kids
When you click on a space shark on the end of a turn, when your autopilot ships move, then the game slows down increadibly. I also think that this version is much slower then the other previous versions. Why is that?
Possibly because Cari has fixed the missing ship/planet bug? There's more to crunch now they're still there (and assuming it has been implemented?) On a medium level game, set to painful, can't say I noticed any slowdown
There's still no sound at all during the movie the first time your freighters are attacked. I'm sure there used to be, laser blasts and what not! Unless I've gone mad! ;p Also had one CTD, something I don't normally suffer from, after reloading a saved game
Sounds fair enough Wild! I can understand where you're coming from. Would be good to hear more comments from folks, either way on this Not a bad idea from Blueroach either, it can be quite misleading to join an Empire (mine for instance) with quite a few members, but then realise that some have never submitted, or have been inactive for some time. Maybe a "cleanup" every now and again would help? But would need to be long enough so that people (like me for instance) who for whatever
Not if the bar represented 100 games?
personally, I can't really agree on the "weakness" idea, I mean come on, I've personally used the cheats myself, of course I have, but one gave me pretty much unlimited money, another, attacking colony transports in orbit, allowed for VERY easy assaults on otherwise tough planets The score reset won't happen, too many want to keep their scores anyhow, it was only a question :) But it is good to see some people who wouldn't mind a score reset
Hehehe Not exactly thought out is it, assuming that the entire population would rather take up arms and be slaughtered rather than try and rebel later on?
I'm not sure how anyone might feel about this (Including StarDock) but now that Version 1.2 has been released (and allowing for any final patch that might be needed) what are the thoughts on a general reset of the Metaverse scores? Admittedly I'm nowhere near as active a member as many on here, but considering the amount of cheese that was abusable in previous versions, it occurred to me that it might be fun (and help competition) to start all over Don't shoot me, I'm only asking for o
