Ugh no thanks. As was said about Ascendancy and MOO3, it didn't work very well, and there doesn't really seem to be any real benefit. It's time spent doing that when they could be programming other stuff, like the AI for instance!

OK, so I'm home and bored, and it's not enough that I browse the forum while at work, but also when I'm here LOL but I thought I'd share one of those amusing alien comments with you... Feel free to add your faves... hehe :) "Ah, our human friends. We hope you received our gift, a big red bouncing ball. Did you bounce the ball? We felt that such entertainments would amuse your kind" [Message Edited]

I know they're not meant to dominate, as should be the case, but they should have a purpose throughout the game, not just at the start don't you think? As it's been discussed in other threads, other than the actual swing in Evil/Good rating, what point is there later in the game what you choose? -150bc for 1 turn is nothing when you're turnover can be ludicrously higher than that, and likewise, what good is +150 to an account that can have 10,000+ in it? I don't know if it can

Adding to the events comments earlier, I would also appreciate a rebalance of the mods if at all possible... especially if the events could be scaled to roughly how well you were doing. The later events really are pretty minor once you've established yourself

Ahhhh that makes things clearer.. and yes, a +9 to something like that, especially when you've gotten into a game and have some territory, is somewhat disapointing... I'd love to see the events overhauled and balanced more, especially later into the game Thanks to both of you for the info :)

I thought this would be worth resurrecting as a thread, as it seems a good idea, and a couple of early library events were certified, but then nothing! WOuld be nice to get a thumbs up for some of the best Events?! Might even encourage more people to submit!!! I'm always in favour of more events!!! :D

I'm not sure how this one works! :notsure: If I want to be evil ;) and select the option that usually costs 200 million deaths, but provides me with for example +9 Technologies :d , exactly what does that provide you with? I've selected it, but didn't notice any research effects or benefits?!

Ummm yeah... there's no need for the vulgarity on a general forum board. I wasn't impressed. Anyway, seems like I'm joining a discussion that's already heated enough as it is, so I've refrained from posting my original reply and will leave it at that. I don't think it's needed anymore after Harel's apology anyway, although I'll happy still discuss this further if it calms down a bit DarkPaladin Swing Low Sweet Chariot :D [Message Edited]

WC3 and Homeworld are RTS games that don't exactly require a diploma in strategy to complete. GalCiv, MOO2 & 3, JA1 & 2, Silent Storm, now those are "real" strategy games, and I think you'll find that's what Sirian was referring to. I don't get how using NetHack as an example is criticised, but then WC3 and Homeworld are used as arguments, they're just as different as Galciv is to NetHack!!! For one, consider the scales of the maps alone, a level of Homeworld or WC3 takes what

Sirian Meant to post this earlier but havn't had the time, but I'm in total agreement on the use of the Good/Evil techs and wonders, you can use one or the other, but it makes no sense to use both! DarkPaladin
I actually like the fact that minors are slightly more than cannon fodder now.
You're not the only one either LDiCesare, the only thing the Minors were useful for before they were improved on was to trade early tech with, and then invade for an easy planet. I'd say the best method if possible would be to give people the choice if they wanted the more "expansionist" minors or not.

Just wondering... seeing as even though I'm a 56k modem user at home, I'd still be interested in purchasing Drengin.net, if only to grab the Expansion Pack next year, but in the UK they have an annoying policy of booting users every 2 hours. Is Drengin.net able to pick up from where it left off on a download if the Internet connection fails or is disconnected for some reason?

Not seen this mentioned anywhere else, but it was present in previous versions of GC, but when Xeno Propadanda's research is completed, there is no text explaining what the research is about, pretty minor I know, but also simple to fix I'd expect

I noticed that there are multiple posts of downloads in the Library section that have bugs in them, and which were corrected in later releases by the various mod makers themselves. Could it be possible to get them tidied up? It makes browsing through them a lot quicker and easier, and there's less chance that someone will download the "faulty" one that way too Dunno if anyone agrees with this, just a passing thought :)
I was a bit harsh yesterday. But I'm only human, contrary to the beliefs of some of the people on this forum.
Thanks for the reply CariElf, and no worries, I can sympathise with you on the bug score... happy hunting! :D
We do know about the invisible ship bug. We think that it's caused by a bug in the data manager, which is in the very core of our code library. Fixing the bug would affect all of the major systems in the game, and I'd have to write code to convert all of our graphics because they'd crash the game under the fix otherwise. And then, to see if this did fix the problem, I'd have to play for 3-4 hours to wait for it to happen. This could take a week at best to fix. That's a week that I could
This is a game not an OS,I have never had a problem with a Microsoft program.
Never? You must be the first person in computing history to never have a Microsoft program... did you fall through some portal from an alternate universe which didn't have Office problems? :P The 1 IP exploit was fixed in the latest patch wasn't it? Or have I missed something? And I'll have to admit I've never had a ship disappear on me yet personally

Well when you think about it, how long would a Terror Star take to build? I'm sure even with all the parts it would take longer than a month :P Once one was built in an AI's zone of control, it could have a warning flag up, and then as Natthew suggested, the AI could respond in time before it was built (Think Star Wars and the Death Star lol)
