I'd imagine they're just like the stock invasion tactics. You take your pick of the available methods when you drop your troops.

This certainly sounds interesting but it looks like I'm too late... if you guys decide you could use a monk or druid down the line though, let me know :P
Thanks ray, on both counts :D
Meh. Excaliburs solve EVERY foreign relations problem you can possibly run into in GC.
This idea has piqued my interest. And the great part is, even though there's basically a nil chance that T-Man and Brad will implement this, it IS possible that the MWC code monkeys could give it a test run as part of our metaverse analysis system... I'll see if I can get them to put together the formulas to get this going, since it would at least be very interesting to see how it came out for the top 50 players/top 10 empires, etc.
if I'm not mistaken, the bonus does not give you extra research per se. It only increases your base research capacity, so you still need to pay for the reasearch to get it... you can just get more than you did before. [Message Edited]
And of course muchos kudos to Cari for the 3D engine she's making... apparently it's far enough along already that Brad could post a pic of a colony ship in it! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
When you said you were going to do GC2 in 3D the other day, I never expected a colony ship to drop in my lap this soon :p
Actually, I never commented on Frogboy's post. That does sound very cool! I wonder if that's Galciv 2 or another space game?
The IRC logger has the answers! (and some other GC2 tidbits... but of course nothing is final this early)
[16:24] [@FrogBoyHome] I do know a GalCiv 2 would be 3D though (engine wise). [16:24] [@FrogBoyHome] Then we can zoom in and out of the map fluidly. ... [16:37] [@FrogBoyHome] Yea. Just with the 3D engi
The biggest thing that ticked me off about TTT (other than the ents' descision to fight being totally rewritten) is that they ended it before Frodo 'dies'. That would have made for a good cliffhanger.. and then we could all wear 'Frodo lives!' t-shirts until RotK came out :p
The spymaster better look out... it won't be long until the MWC codemonkeys finish banging on their keyboards and we complete our own data-mining, stat-crunching SQL automaton!
If the planets flip to you before you want them, just build some culture resist improvements and give them back :P
I'm in agreement with some of Stofsk's points here. There's no need for a separate logistics system; you could simply code in fleet bonuses, but limit fleet size by the total maintenance costs of the ships in it. This limit could then be set to rise in tandem with one or more tech branches (i.e. total fleet maintenance maximum is determined by the number or propulsion and communication techs researched).
* * * * When you're several thousand years old, you have a lot of time to think. Especially when you spend the majority of that time alone. Kryo, as he had come to be known, was a very pragmatic man. If, that is, you could call him a man. He had not been one for much more than the first thirty or so of the thousands of years he had existed. His pragmatism was deeply rooted in the fact that he had been forced to do whatever was neccessary to survive for the past few tho
"Emperor, we're recieveing a transmission from the MWS Blizzard in the border worlds region." said a nameless comm lackey. Emperor Surther waved dismissively to the lackey. "Put it on the main screen." The main veiwscreen of the MWS Maifest Destiny flickered to life and displayed a grim, mysterious figure. He was cloaked entirely in black and wore black gloves as well. All that could actually be seen of him was a pair of glowing blue eyes beneath the hood of his cloak. "Greetin
Well, the place I poked around is a place that you most very likely don't have (I use my own custom built windows shell in place of the traditional start menu/desktop). The main point of my post though is that you could check to see if you have any programs running in the background that could be sucking up CPU time or memory... try closing anything you have running in your system tray, etc., then run GC and see if your movies are any better.
Sephlock: If you're not having the problems that Cari mentioned than it could be just about anything running in the background sucking up too much CPU time... Just the other day I got sick of my bink video sound skipping and poked around, only to find that my problem was a module in my customized shell was set to poll for changes too often. One semicolon in the config file later, and bink videos are silky smooth once again. :D
I think I've seen this question posed before but I don't remember getting an answer to it... anyone have an answer or a link to an odl thread that does?
As far as I know, once you ink a deal it goes on forever, even if that race gets destroyed or goes totally bankrupt... In my last game I needed some extra cash for my final push, so I sold ALL of my remaining techs to the two strongest minors, for something like 1000bc/200mo. :P
Yes, 90% is being wasted. You'll notice that even if a planet is building nothing, its screen will still show output in the ratios you set--output that does absolutely jack squat.
I get atrociously slow turn loads in the later game too, on my Athlon XP 2200+ with 640MB ram... In fact sometimes the game just hangs there for 5 minutes or more when it's getting ready to throw a random event at me (usually one where the AI gets 100 Precursor Corvettes--this event happend at least 5 times in my last game). It's pretty annoying that I have to get up and go get a drink, and flip through the channels on the TV while I wait for the thing to process a single turn...
AIs should do it more so you don't get so much of a chance.
The AIs don't sell for cash, but they will trade techs amongst themselves pretty extensively on difficulties above normal (if I'm not mistaken). The only reason that you can even sell techs to them at all is because they all seem to focus on the same techs, leaving lots of others unresearched. This is also the reason that if you sell a tech to a major civ, you better sell it to all of them in one turn or
And besides, the midwest is all about COWS, not sheep... and on top of that, about the only thing I have to do with cows aside from seeing them in the fields is eating them! Mmmm, tasty cows...
Not only have we secured the number one position in the metaverse but we have 2 top 10 players and I'll tell you, I'm not lettiong up til I put idle in his place
Yeah, and if you two would have waited to post your last game each a bit then we would have had 3 in the top 10 with the game I just posted... but noooo, thanks to you two I'm stuck at 11 until I post again :P
Not only are we still around, but a couple of new recruits have put us over GROSS and into NUMBER ONE on the metaverse.. woohoo!!! :D :D
