Ok, new night, new adventures. So last night I arranged my icons to my liking and used DesktopX to Save As "zorven". Tonight, I downloaded an icon package I liked, and used Icon Packager to install it. It re-arranged all my icons. So I tried using DesktopX to load my saved theme to see if that would put my icons back where I had them....no luck. Unless someone can t

I rearranged my icons and chose Save As from within DesktopX. I think that will end my adventures for tonight. Thanks for all your help.
I figured out my "MacPC Suite Hijacking" problem. In DesktopX there was an option to Hide Desktop Icons. What I thought were the 4 MacPC themed icons were really objects. So, uncheck Hide and delete 4 objects and I am almost back where I started. All I have to do is REARRANGE my desktop icons....
That makes sense.
I think that makes sense.
Okay, I downloaded a suite that was 4 MB and Theme Manager loaded it fine (I am assuming the few problems I am experiancine are related to the specific suite I am using). Anyway, I am still having the problem of my desktop only having the 4 MacPC suite icons on it. Any thoughts on how to fix that?
Now since I loaded the MacPC suite from Theme Manager, I can't get my desktop back when using DesktopX. All I have is the 4 icons that the MacPC suite put there. This is getting frustrating....
Yes. The first time I tried to install a suite it asked me if I wanted to install several programs (to which I said yes). I have since gotten 2 suites within Theme Manger to work: MacPC and Windows Classic. It seems on the other ones when it downloads the files that the next step listed is Extract Download and it seems it stops before that step.
Now I am experimenting with Theme Manager. I open the program and choose a Suite to Apply. It states it is downloading some files (wallpaper, icons, etc). After that window disappears I am back to the the Theme Manager program and nothing has changed. I exit Theme Manger and still nothing has changed. Am I missing something?
I am using version 2. I brought up DesktopX, chose the DesktopX tab, then chose Default Movement: Locked. Restarted Desktop X. Opened IconPackager, loaded a new package, and the icons still move. Maybe I am missing something, but this behavior is making me think a bit more about buying Object Desktop. Thanks for you help Developer yrag.
Everytime I use IconPackager to load a new package, it moves all the desktop icons. How do you lock them in place with DesktopX?
I have recently started using DesktopX and Icon Packager. When I loaded DX, it rearranged all my desktop icons. Ok, no bigggie, I needed to clean up anyway. Then I discoverd Icon Packager and installed a new icon theme. It rearranged all my icons. I am getting hesitant to try anything else else I will need to rearrange the icons again. Is there anyway to prevent this or to restore my layout?
I believe your mother was overreacting to the situation you describe. But she could be acting our of fear of what other physical activities are occruring besides hugging. Perhaps she got a bad reputation as a teen from kissing in public and she is fearful of you getting that type of rep. Sometimes parents don't know how to address their fears and so they act in ways you describe here.

Just because new software comes out doesn't mean you need it. My company uses Office 2000 ( and I do at home) and I see no reason to upgrade. It is not obsolete until it does not do what we need it to. Unless there is a new feature added to the software you use that is critical must have, then stick with what you have.
Sometimes the postives outwieght the negatives. How does your dad feel about the experience? My guess would be that he would do it again. Same with me. I had several injuries in my 4 years of high school football. One of them has been starting to increasingly bother me the last couple of years, but I would do it again. The fun and experiences I had far outwiegh the injuries. I only wish there has been more than 4 years <img src="../images/smiles/smile
I don't understand how MSNBC thinks that having an acrtress analyze a political event is a service to their viewers. I rarely pay attention to entertainers when they comment on areas outside their career.
I agree with the article. However, I think too many people are more interested in saving money or increasing their conveniance to worry about the quality or service they are getting. Also, people get comfortable with a particlar company in that even though they know it is sub-par, they are familiar with the company / product and know what to expect. They are reluctact to try a new company because it is unknown, even if the new company may be better. <
This has been bugging me: our company's top execs have been running the company for a little over 15 years. During that time, the company has had a net income loss. The past year saw no cost of living raises for our employees. However, since this is one of those rare good years in terms of profits, those top execs will be handed large performance bonuses that amount t
Blogging is new to me. I have been reading JoeUser recently...mainly Draginol. I started playing one of his company's games last year and eventually found my way here. I have never been much of a "talker" and so have not been motivated to start my own blog, but I just created it so I have an outlet for those occasional thoughts that I need to get off my chest. <
I too miss my big tech tree on the wall next to my computer. Why, I remember when..... ;)
I feel much the same as Drazzil. I have often thought in the past few months that I wish I had the extra funds to purchase some of their other products; not because I really wanted them (although Windowblinds is becoming more tempting as I have been using the freebie version), but because I wanted to support Stardock and the way they do business. I have to go so I can try to figure out how to pay to upgrade to Drengin.net before the price goes up......
Captain Space: Gee, I just loaded my last game, and it looks like you are right - no icon for the political capital :SURPRISED:
That is news to me that the AI knows where all the resources are without exploring. It seems Brad has consistantly said the AI ONLY knows where the yellow stars are. Frogboy - why don't you put an entry in the Encyclopedia that explicity states what advantages and disadvantages the AI gets at the various levels. There seems to be so much misinformation out there.... [Message Edited]
I thought SDC was very easy to setup and is very easy to use. I prefer just hitting the update button and everything is done for me. I agree with you Code Monkey LOL
