Absolutely. The way the game currently is there is no difference between your choices for sovereign. In the early betas there was some differentiation and when they changed it so that all magic books were accessible to all sovereigns I assumed that it was for testing purposes.

Once the crushing worry about release dates and overall reception have come and gone, the post-release update period is the most fun you can have making games. I just hope that, once the dust settles, we all get to experience the

It took me quite a few turns to have a win in Dominions. :) The pretenders can be devastating.
What is the ETA on the next patch? This week? Next week? today? This is a game-stopping bug so I hope the Stardock resources are not being diverted to fulfil the multiplayer promise. Please fix these issues before moving on to other items so we can play the game.
To have called it a tutorial, would have required them to make another 'campaign', my guess is, that was just too much work considering the shoddy state of the 'mod tools'.
Funny, I think the mod tools are the saving grace of the game at the moment. I can't think of another game that gave modders so much power to change aspects with relative ease. The only short-fall is that you need to do a lot of work to create your own creature

Yeah. Try putting them in the actual game folder. There should be a folder called 'Mods'.
Where are you saving them? Mine only work if they are in the Mods folder. Not in the My Documents area as was the original setup.
I've been using Eclipse a bit more this morning and it is really solid for doing the XML work. :) The combination of the search facility, editor and code outline all on one screen is great. I haven't ever bothered with Eclipse in the past for XML but this is a really cool application.
I've been experimenting a little with making the races more unique. If you are wanting to limit certain aspects for this mod you can specify a Race prerequisite to control who gets tech, item, units, building etc. I just posted about it here... https://forums.elementalgame.com/394562
I've been experimenting a little with creating a unique race where buildings, units and items will only be available for that particular race. So far the prerequisites listed seem to have been limited to Tech and Allegiance. But you can also specify Race. There is still a lot of trial and error, and I'm not sure what the impact is on changing the race to make it unique (in the default game the only races specified are Men and Fallen). As an experiment I wanted to have
Good work!!! :D
This is only for modders who are willing to get their hands dirty in the XML. Please turn away now if you were wanting a utility to do the code work for you. Background I've only really started looking at the games XML looking for examples of how the code works within itself. It looks as though you can control an awful lot of information but it is extremely hard finding specific examples. What I wa

If money isn't a problem, why not sit on the game a few more months before releasing it, let beta testers pound on a version of the game that's more like a release candidate to iron it out, and then release it. In 2-3 more months, this game will look and play very different after numer
With all due respect, they've said from before beta started that it's going to be a game about humanoid races. They said from before beta started that all sorts of different creatures wouldn't be the core of your armies, and that you'd still be training normal guys. There's no unmet expectation because the expectation was never there. And if people buy the game and are disappointed because all the races are humanoid, the fault is 100% th
Thanks for the update Brad, but with all respect no-one from Stardock has ever commented or addressed what many have been saying since the beta versions that the races are boring and one-dimensional. You have listed the easier XML fixes (magic and research etc) but the whole concept of essentially just having a single model with coloured skin that players can dress up with items just doesn't cut it, sorry. In fantasy games I think players are not looking for traditional real-life race

For example, when zoomed in the texture detail on an item might use a texture image of 256 pixels x 256 pixels which carries a lot of information. As you zoom out and more items come into the screen you end up with many many texture maps needing to be shown and all needing to be stored in the m
