In addition to the terror star or combat transport alternatives, you can keep the planet intact when you cultute bomb with multiple party palace starbases. So . . . use them all at different times for maximum fun. I try to culture flip a strong major but maybe alpha strike a weak minor that is no longer useful. To end a game rapidly, you just can't beat a terror star alpha strike. :D
Theoden, we hope you and family stay warm & healthy. In newer versions of Gal Civ (1.10 or 1.11) the deceased civilization no longer has to pay off its debt. In older versions with Draginol, you could move most of your colony off in a colony ship and/or combat transport(s) when you heard about the bad thing about to happen. Then after they appeard, you could trade peace for mega bucks. After closing the deal, you then alpha strike them and they vanish. It seems in the newer version you will only
There are a lots of ways to proceed. Me? If it is going to take more than a couple two or three combat trasnports, I go for a terror star as the most cost-effective approach. Hmmm . . . sounds more like an accountant than a fleet admiral, doesn't it? LOL. Good luck Spike. :)
Hostility can happen when the moral alignment is different, for example if the Torians are good and the human is evil. If you are the military weakling and someone demands tribute but you refuse, the relationships can worsen. You can often help relationships by establishing trade routes, particularly if you become the ONLY trading partners by bribing the AI to war against the AI it is trading with (watch the yellow lines in the diplomacy and treaties part of the interface). If you gift an AI, re
I haven't played with "luck" for a while but when I did, "finding" rangers was the obvious benefit. I read months ago that luck also helps your ship to shoot first during combat but I didn't pay enough attention to this during gameplay. Would someone care to comment on other benefits of luck?
If you colonize a planet and immediately go to the planet screen and click on details, you will find a planet 14 or above requires no maintenance. Planet 10 to 13 require maintenance of 5 bc per month and below planet 10 requires much more maintenance costs. There is no hurry to colonize PQ 14 planets because as you say, the AI usually overlooks them. My recommendation is to colonize the yellows first in a way to maxmize colony count (for example try to get that colony before
Like Matthew says, you can use terror stars and go massively in debt but you might want to make that a super alpha strike. I did a 25 terror star alpha strike once and it was pretty cool. If you are going to destroy the planets that you flip, you might as well terror star alpha strike the race and while you are at it, why not terror star alpha strike everyone. It's only 5 constructors per system and on the last big turn of the game, who cares about money? :D
Darn. I saw this post and got excited because I thought Gengsta was playing again. No such luck. :( Maxti congrats on 3rd place. You are an excellent and very dedicated player but on gigantic, it might take anyone a while to reach fleet admiral. ;)
I enjoy the banter about "how the game *should* be played" but consider it rather silly. Life is challenging (and sometimes painful) but games should be fun. If you want to reload because the fundamentalists event makes the game too easy or makes it too hard, go right ahead. Just have fun and keep playing and stick around long enough to buy the new expansion pack so we can keep having cool games to play. :) We all know the metaverse is more of an indication of dedication than a
Smeagol. I thought you had one game that failed to show. I didn't realize you had lost all of your scores and it now says you have submitted one game with a total score of 700 or so. How did this happen? Did you join drengin.net or something and the registration numbers get messed up? I am really sorry. This would annoy me greatly. Good luck and keep us informed.
Thanks vincible and congrats on vice-admiral to you. Very shortly Maxtipherous or Mr. Wombat will pass both Ray and me so I won't have the shiny medal for long. LOL.
Congrats on 3 million. :CONGRAT:
Thanks for the input. Now, I just try to get the majors to war with all the minors too. I pick the minor closest to the major first, which is sort of logical. And, sometimes I don't put my cash cow (Alexians and rarely Carinoids) to war so I can keep those charge card payments rolling in. :D
You are welcome. "Go forth and prosper". :D
vincible. One more game to vice admiral. You are really squeezing a lot of mpts out of those large masos. Nice job. :) The count on the bug thread for 1.12 is over 140 so I am sticking with 1.11 for a while. Learned my lesson on the survey ship bug a while back. Someone please let me know if there is a scoring change with 1.12 but I haven't heard about it so far. My question for the ring-team: Is it random when an AI is "militaristic"? I just finished a huge maso with
Often it is helpful to know who is trading with whom. If you know that, then you know which AI to bribe to start wars with to eliminate trade routes. The goal is to get 100% of an aliens trade routes to you. My problem is when I have isolated a major AI but when I click trade bar, I find out 24% of the AI income is from trade but only 12% is from me. I can see what sort of trade of going on with the majors but I can't see what trade is going on with the minors, can I? Is there a way to
My zero mpts anomalous score was on a large crippling. Cari looked at it and said it appeared I got too rich too fast. My guess is my cash for tech strategy got me too rich too fast. That game was not recoverable so I have no crippling games in my profile but like Alex says, at least we find out about it now before submitting. I wonder since you were getting cash for tech with both Alexians and Carinoids (unusual in maso) that you tripped the "too much money too fast" flag. Looks like t

Got my January (can you believe it? LOL) Computer Gaming World this week. Of the CGW Top 20, Gal Civ has moved up to number 12. :D It is also mentioned in their rewind 100 (review of recent game reviews) as an editor's choice with the comment "this is the best 4X space game in years". Not bad . . . not bad at all. :)
I looked at the screen. The menu button is on the top in the middle of the game screen. If you hit the menu button, you go to the options screen that also tells the version number. I think the cheat codes came with version 1.10 or 1.11. The off/on button for the cheat codes is on the lower left of the options screen. Once you enable cheat codes, go back to the game and type in the cheat code to see what happens. :D [Message Edited]
Thanks Sirian.
boilerdog I did a search on "cheat" and here is what I found. You need to enable the cheat codes on the left side of menu screen (where you load and save games). I copied and pasted this below to MS Word so the spell checker corrected a couple of words otherwise it is as per Citizen Elden. I know the control-U works but I haven't used the others. Hope it helps. :) -------------- #1 by Citizen Elden - 9/29/2003 5:45:03 AM They were added in the expansion pack
Congrats to Mr. Wombat on fleet admiral. :CONGRAT:
