Finished the huge maso without any milking. Only ran the tech tree high enough to get The terraformer and Gal Guide book so only got 50k. I never even made it to trade centers with my morality stuck on 89 the last half of the game and the Altarians had fizzled out before they made it to trade centers so I couldn't trade for it. The only combat was sending a combat transport to take one new minor (after extracting cash). That facilitated the culture bomb strategy in that area. I mobilize
Congrats on 2.5 million for the Jedi republic. :CONGRAT:
Thanks for all the replies. Darn, I knew that had to be too easy. LOL
I wouldn't worry about Scotty - even on 1.11 - because they can't win - only you or a major can. They might snag a few nice stars from you but I usually ignore them and go after the majors with culture bombing. I think the more powerful minors in 1.11 are cool but actually make the game a little harder for majors and thus a little easier for humans. For example, if you attack all the majors with terror stars you can win while having less stars or planets than some minor. Win, baby, win. :)
Just checking in. Happy November 2. Hope everyone had a nice halloween. Well after strutting about how cool it was to get all the AI to ally last game, they don't like me very much this game. I . . . must . . . have . . . trade centers :d - but am stuck at a morality of 89. That's high enough for the Yor and Drengin and even Arcean to think you are rather strange and untrustworthy but too low for trade centers. LOL. So, no alliances this game. But it is time for constructors s
You may want to send a zip file of your last saved gamed folder and file (for example, endgamesave) to stardock or to Cari. When I got an anomalous on a large, crippling; I sent it to Cari and was informed I had tripped a "too much money" flag, probably by trading tech to the AI for cash. Theoden, in our empire, also had something very similar happen. I was hoping that this would be unlikely on maso since the trade tech for money thing is nerfed. This is the first I have heard of anomal
I don't think 1.11 is any harder than 1.10 on maso. There are so many variables built into each game that the unique events flavor the game more than the version number. The scoring, however, is higher in 1.11. For those having troubles with maso, the strategy section of the forum is the place to look under the maso strategy thread started by Ray. We maso players continue to update that thread regularly. Good luck. :)
It might be nice to have more forums. Or it might be nice for persons having questions about game strategy to use the strategies forum, which IMO are under-utilized.
Gerraken and MWC. Thanks - very interesting.
Thanks to the answers about the freighters. I played another gigantic maso. My thoughts so far are that playing gigantic maso creates a money problem where I hover around -500 bc too long early in the game before trade picks up. If the majors are closest to me, I "buy" freighters from them (with tech) but if the minors are closest to me, I build freighters as soon as I get "trade tech" from a minor. Either way, one has to get trade cranking ASAP especially on a bigger map or risk being
I have been trying to figure out if embassy and neural net are routinely worth the cost or are they just a drain on the economy (esp. playing maso where money is tight). Here is a strategy I have been using but I wanted to hear if it makes sense to others. On a recent game Earth had revenue of 98 and spending of 136 so I built both embassy and neural net. It seems logical that . . . If embassy boosts the economy 5% on a planet, then would it make sense to build embassies on all planets
Thanks for all the input regarding scoring on 1.11. No wonder it was confusing. According to Darth, Wombie, and others posting in the scoring thread, the wormhole in the universe is when one starts a maso game in 1.10 and submits it under 1.11. Then one can get a 50 to 60% scoring boost. On the other hand, a maso game started and finished in 1.11 gives about a 5% boost in scoring compared to 1.10??? Anyone else have better figures? On normal, Rainbird noted very little change between 1.11 and 1.
Darth. Congratulations on all the games recently. You are really dedicated. Thanks for the information. This is what I was looking for. I am getting 60k on gigantic masos under 1.11 when I got 58k and 59k under 1.10 so it is hard for me to tell right now. It appears then that starting on 1.10 and submitting under 1.11 is the wrinkle in the metaverse that causes those 50% boosts in scoring. Otherwise, at least on maso, it looks like a game started and finished in 1.11 gives maybe a 5% bo
I have not had the draginol appearance cause a crash. Try to go back as far as you can until you find a stable saved game (like the prior autosave). You may wish to report this to stardock and send your save game files but sometimes stuff like this happens. Sorry it happened to you on your first game. Good luck. :)
So have we decided that the resubmission of 1.10 games under 1.11 gives much higher scores than starting and finishing a game in 1.11? Is this only for maso? Does anyone think they can start and finish a maso large in 1.11 and get 60k or say 57k from a medium maso - started and finished in 1.11? Stay tuned. . .
A very happening thread for sure. I can hardly keep up. :D I agree with Theoden on the 1.11 changes but the scoring issues still perplex me. Wild Wombat, just have fun, so if you stick with 1.10 until the bugs get worked out that makes sense. I confess to feeling a bit of a dork when 1.05 was working fine, then I downloaded 1.10, and got the "survey ship crash" until Stardock put out the newer patch. Doh!!! 1.10 seems like a stable version. I was needing a little spice in the g
Hey Mr. Wombat. How are you? Have you downloaded 1.11? Can you do a small maso on 1.11 and let us know what the scoring change is please? But wait until vincible submits another. LOL.
I am inevitably going to be overrun by the gigantic players, although I'm DAMN well going to make them earn it!
Squinting at that tiny strategy map in the upper right corner, totally losing orientation as to where the heck Sol is on the map, not being able to see open resources as a
agree with Geoffrey's very fast response :D If you get below -500 bc in your bank account all production is frozen until you get your bank account better than -500 bc. It is an effective way to make us pay our VISA bill. ;)
Well this is as clear as mud. LOL Ray did a Huge Maso on 1.11 as his last game and got 53k. On three Huge Masos on 1.10 he got about 50k. Anyone else played an entire Huge Maso with 1.11? Time permitting, I will try to work backward on map size with future games and see what the 1.11 scores are like especially compared to 1.10. At least we haven't heard of 1.11 making scores go down. :D
Yes, PBP, that is the impression I get too. Wow, that's two re-submitted large masos (PBP and Matthew Downie) that capped at 60k. Has anyone played a large or huge maso from start to finish on 1.11 and hit the cap? Please continue to report scoring changes from 1.10 to 1.11. Thanks. [Message Edited]
This sounds vaguely familiar...
Like "deja vu all over again"? LOL
Congrats to Jack and others who are submitting games including Theoden for that big-time 60k. :CONGRAT: I think the metaverse thing will take care of itself. Sorry anyone is getting upset. Looks like the next goal for FotR is 2.5 million mpts. I am very early in my gigantic maso so it may be a while before I submit another. Just keep having fun playing Gal Civ and all will be fine. :)
I do have that 1.10 Huge/Crippling that I want to submit. If it shows up as Anomalous again, I think I'll scream!
I found my endgamesave for my anomalous in my recycle bin. I had saved it under "endgamesaveanomalous". How creative LOL The file date was 9/24 and it loaded fine. I played the final turn, a terror star finale, then finally got the military victory a turn or two later. It was 23k or so points but zero mpts!!! So, it is still anomalous. Just don't want you to s
I just read the maso scoring went up about 60% according to some score resubmissions on 1.11 vs 1.10. OK, my question is have folks figured out whether it is better to buy freighters from the AI or make your own at your economic capital? For me, it seemed in the large size or smaller maso maps, I reached the AI relatively early and traded tech for freighters. But, in gigantic, I have to spend time waiting for the income to pick up and it blunts my ability to use 100% spending. I sometim
