Mayito, We all invited Monkson and Ginata to join us. The Special Forces is a group of active players who have become friends through the message boards. Because we are all active and have been around on the Forums for awhile, ALL of us have empire hopped. In fact, the majority have been in 3 or more previous empires.... Our numbers will probably not grow that much more as those who are interesting in joining have probably already done so. We don't actively recruit on the

Marquesa, I definitely was playing the AI, the first few times I beat maso. After a couple of games, you'll get back to playing the 'game.' It's fun for me for two reasons - there's less of a margin of error (though more than you'll think from your first couple of games) and it's much later in the game until you'll feel like you're in complete control. I still haven't gotten to the end of the tech tree at maso(much of the time I don't have to get close) and I stil

The Mass Drivers of Navarone: The Prologue: The situation in the Galactic War between the Allied Special Forces and the Euros looked grim. The Euro space was guarded by a group of heavily fortified systems known as the Pillars of Hercules. The Pillars surrounded an empty field of space known as the Club Med Sea. The only chance of assaulting the Pillars was to skirt through the Space Lane Straits and into the Club Med Sea. The Allies had lost billions of tro

Welcome Monkson and Ginata!!! I finally wrote my story. It's not very good by Special Forces standards, but I am attempting to open up a fresh genre that fits our theme... Monkson - I wrote this last night before I checked the boards, so I'll get you in the next one. Cypher

I am thinking of attempting the Gigantic Maso rite of passage. I'm going to try Gigantic/Occassional. The problem is that I haven't played many gigantic games. Any suggestions on determining if I got a decent start in terms of number of planets? Is 8-10 systems enough? Thanks, Cypher ~SDC~

JAWS - Congrats on your new position! Harel - You're doing great! No apologies for slowing down... a game a week is still a great pace... Hey, I had to get a post while I'm still on the big board... I got to keep playing so I can stay... I've got two stories in the works: Ashlyn's Birthday - the 21! My pending promotion to VICE admiral - before Ashlyn's birthday. I'll keep you guys posted in the other thread, it took me a why to catch up.. Happy

Fundamentalists have never been a problem for me. In about 8 games where I have played Evil, I have yet to lose a single planet to them. I think the key is keeping morale high (which I do for production / tax purposes)... a neat side effect is that I've been thus far immune to both the Fundies and the I-League. I would vote for keeping the event as is... -Cypher

Just Stupid, That's one of the downsides playing evil - another is the Fundamentalists. If you're really bummed you can always reload from a previous save... all and all, I think the bonuses are often too good to give up. If I were if your position, I would take out the rest of the minors quickly -- now you're at no disadvantage. Quite honestly, when I play evil I usually don't do much trading - because I'm always at war. Good luck, Cypher ~SDC~

I vote for the Delta Force logo... thought the Stripes are my second choice. Just submitted another game, yesterday I would have snuck onto the big board - this morning it was good for 27th place. I guess this gives me a task for the weekend... -Cypher

Good morning! It's been an interesting evening. Welcome Harel and Piers! I'm working on a story, I just gotta finish filling all those Euro papers Killa gave me... Harel - It's great to have an enforcer! I think the other empires might be more 'receptive' to our diplomatic advances now. Killa - I am beginning to think you should quit your day job and become a writer. I would definitely buy anything you wrote... Piers - Congrats on the addition to your fami

Well... I'm back to the drawing boards on my military maso stategy. I got beat pretty bad on the large. I actually managed to get everyone but the Torians to declare war on me.. I started a small and quickly got in control of that game... I guess my next step is to devise a military stategy that will work on medium. I suspect that I need to buy my military... I tried that in the current game and I'm in complete control in 2182. I'll keep everyone posted... Cypher

Ric, I think the biggest difference between my strategy and others is that I'm unafraid of fighting an AI. I'll take one on early in the game if there's two other AIs also at war with them. The AI is so bad at attacking, that even with a military disadvantage it is not too hard to out manuveur them (though I had a LOT of practice at the lower difficulties - I can look at a map and pretty much tell you how the AI will respond to an attack.) For example, if the AI is at war with a majo

Hermann - Congrats on the first maso win! Hmmm.. I'm becoming acustomed to Maso now. I thought I'd post my stategy since it is a bit different from what has been discussed. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but now I'm past needing the 1 IP bug to win at all. Trade and the occassional tech gift seems to enable me to keep relations in the Neutral to Warm range until it is too late to matter. I'm going to try a Large game next so hopefully I'm not getting too cocky. (My

Andi5000, Heres a quick reply: [quote]1) How do ships regain hitpoints after being attacked?2) How do starbases regain hitpoints after being attacked?3) How much hitpoints does a planet have or how is the defense of a planet handled?4) How do I defend a starbase? Just by putting spaceships "on top of them" in "guard" mode?5) How can I tell which autopilot aim belongs to which spaceship? Can I only tell on the tiny map or is there a way to display their heding in the large map,

Andi5000, Sorry about the bad luck... this game can occassionally beat you (I can still lose after 5 months of playing and that's one of the reasons I still enjoy playing it so much...) If it makes you feel any better, the bad luck tends to be balanced by good luck. It seems like events like the I-League happen more when you've good a lead. Other times, the Fundies wiped out the Drendin and Yor right before they can wipe me out -- and I've been bailed out a lucky Tech Swap UP

Another day, another logo. :) Killa- I'm enjoying the tales of the empire visits. I'm still getting a feel of the Special Forces theme, so I think I'll wait a little before trying on of my own.... Giving the Evil Empire a Caberet theme was inspired. Cheers, Cypher
