I have the blue face of happiness as well. My morality should be neutral/evil (3.55) :sniff!: The only thing that keeps me happy is that I imagine I am an invited guest speaker at an Altarian conference and halfway through it I pull out a Drengin assault rifle and cut loose.;)

Since the weekend my alignment has turned to pure good from neutral. >:( According to Statbot my morality is 3.53 out of 5 (5 being demon material) so I think I should be on the evil side of neutral. http://statbot.galciv.org/statbotover.php?Name=Jackey%20Jackey Has any one else noticed a dramatic alignment Change? :notsure: [Message Edited]

The new minors that get all your techs worry me as well. I have yet to see any evidence that they give the techs away from intimidation. I generally attempt to conquer them straight away, just to be sure. :HOT:

Ahh the memories that come flooding back. As for getting the sound to work with XP, I could not do it. From what I read on the sites people weren't have much luck in this regard. The DOS emulator I used, DOSBox -0.61, worked to slowly for me to consider playing it. :( Does any one (DOS emulator) use one that works well with XP?

Maybe to achieve an alliance victory the whole galaxy should be at peace, as well as you being allied with all the remaining majors. This way as well as establishing your alliances, you would have to convince other Civs (minors included) to end their wars. This would require more diplomacy on your behalf although I am not really sure what it would cost to convince Civs to stop fighting.

If I am playing with a good mod pack (there are plenty out there) I tend to find my games lasting a lot longer than without any. I find it interesting to explore how other people view the Galciv universe. I feel that the emphasis will always be on the top 25 to a certain degree but I agree that there should be more done to make it more inclusive for newer players. It could be broken down into political parties, game difficulty, how the game is won/lost etc. This would reduce

Do you think a -50 to soldiering should be in order? People that dont fight rarely do it well if required. Maybe even a hit to military production. Just comments for thought, not trying to upset anyone.

I like the interceptor but I believe it should be limited to sectors which have your planets in. A close to home starship should have way more firepower than one that has travelled far across the galaxy. This is for all ships at relatively the same tech level. I also agree with the comments about the Patrol although the only thing I ever use them to attack is colony ships that are heading for a planet I have earmarked as mine. :) I guess the beauty about Galciv is yo

I agree with JT, I think minor turning the minors off would make the game harder. As for trading with the AI, I fail to see how that is cheese no matter when you trade with them. They certainly trade amongst themselves. Of course they stuggle to survive at the end of the game they are minors after all. I find it in my interest to prop one of them up as a permanent trading ally just in case things get nasty with the majors. Sort of like the USA and Oz :HOT:

Yeah I guess, although late in the game when the good civs are threatening I generally stockpile AMMs as a deterent. For the way I play, I would have to quadruple my stockpile to maintain that edge (if -75 Ship Attack). I cant bring myself to bribe those Torians just so they wont attack me :). The evils get all my trade goods as gifts though.

I have played using it and found myself screaming through the tech tree. I imagine people that use this would avoid war anyway so I think it would be fairer to the AI if you took a -75 Ship Attack (the one that really counts). This way you would have to constantly monitor your relations to prevent the AI seeing you as easy meat. The -75 on HPs and defense are pretend negatives. Just my opinion. :SURPRISED: It would be interesting to see the result i

The Omega Pack is good and has yet to screw my score. It has a couple of new politcal parties and lots of new techs, SB modules and Trade goods. Also the Capitals (Cultural, Religous) made by the late Renegade are quite good.

There is another event that is similar where you government has a falling out with another government (lack of espionage spending). Their government is financed by a merchant and corvettes appear all over the galaxy. Really annoying and almost impossible to sue for peace.

I use 602Text which is a word type program. It is free although you have to register to get all the features. I got in on the CD cover disk of a magazine but I imagine you could probably download it.
