GalCiv ONLY runs in 16bit color, full screen or windowed either one.
Oh! :p

Maybe you have a virus /worm on your computer. This would account for the game slowing down. Do you have the same problem with other programs? Have you got any antivirus software to check it out?
it can be quite misleading to join an Empire (mine for instance) with quite a few members, but then realise that some have never submitted, or have been inactive for some time.
There is nothing tying you permanently to an Empire. I have toyed with the idea of changing before. Several of the larger Empires are in a state of decay with some of their members forming new Empires. Usually the activity on the thread in the Empire forum is a good indicator of
Have you tried turning down to 16M colours? My eyes cant tell the difference between 32M and 16M. If you havent already done so, you should turn off the options to watch enemy ship movments and battles on the options screen. This removes the frustrating wait for next turn.
Leave the scores as they are as those players have earnt them. I think a new batch of medals is called for. Let everyone keep their scores but have a medal for the highest score gained in a set period. Much like a tourney . The period could be monthly, which would mean 12 new medals (maybe another 12 for last year champion). Perhaps the winner for that month could even get a Title or perhaps some bonus points.(plus a write up on the metaverse news).
There is another reason to colonise planets and that is for the alignment events. If you are trying to get to good or evil for the additional techs you can colonise these planets and not care what the actual event is as long as you get you alignment modification. What you do with the planet then is up to you.
I always keep a spare combat transport docked in case one of these minor pop up. In Rare galaxies a new planet is a godsend
You have some good ideas there GoblinCookie, particularly the raiding of undefended planets.
glad to have you back.. :)
New Member :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: Welcome Pikeo. Here is the ANZAC forum we are trying to establish. http://s3.invisionfree.com/ANZAC_Forums/index.php?act=idx [Message Edited]
I still get pirates in Version 1.13, maybe once or twice a game. They are pretty weak though and I don't think they have ever destroyed anything of mine. So perhaps Hegetaga is right and they have joined G.R.O.S.S :) :)
Um... would this be considered a recruitment thread in the Galactic Forum? Uh oh! It's in a gray area!
Are recruitment threads out?

hooray 1.5 million points. again........ :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:
the deed is done.
It looks good.
Thoughts? Anything else I can do to help troubleshoot?
i found my game would generally crashed on the autosaves so I backed it off to once every 15 turns. i also found that having only 16mil colours on the desktop reduced the amount of crashes.
er, I did my first large maso game... woooo
I just did my first huge maso. I had to rely on a deathstar, guarded by missiles, to destroy all the drengin planets . None of my ships (avatars) would survive a one-on-one encounter, so I just keep pumping out missiles to take out the drengin overlords attacking the deathstar :D [Message Edited]
Next game in gets the 350th and a good chance of cracking the 1.5 million.
will do once I get home from work...
Sorry I went bush for a few days. I will now take that rum back. Cheers :D
You are right I am still playing. The reason I quit is that I thought the Rebellion was over. If you look closely I think it is only us three + LLM who have been submitting games. Since I have yet to find a better empire I will rejoin even though the thought I drinking Bundy makes me sick.
I had them control the whole galaxy through their initial fleet of dreadnoughts, then overlords etc... Even though they didn't invade any planets, no one could get a ship close to their planet. My ships were wiped out as soon as they were constructed.
Are you looking on the player ranking lists or in your empire list? I sometimes find that my score is not immediately added if I look at my profile under the My Empire screen. It does seem to update straight away on the player ranking list though.
It gave me a bit of a shock logging on and not finding the original empire name. Good idea though, but i think i'll stick to my Wild Turkey. :)
