Yeah that's true, defenders are good for doing just that early in the game until you get battleaxes and battlehammers. The basic survey ship is good for surveying stuff until you get the Rangers, but I think the Starhawks are somewhat useless as my starting survey ship usually has better stats than the Starhawk by the time I get the tech for it.
Fulgrymm
I just hope there are enough disgruntled MoO 3 people that return it in favour of GalCiv.
Yes, it'll either be in the next beta, or in the final product.
Yeah but by the time you get those, you're either very close to crushing the other civs around you, or you're very close to a tech win because if I remember correctly, you don't get those until after you've researched Near Omniscience.
Usually evil, although once I deliberately went good just to find out what the UI and music for it was. Thought it was really bright and serene so I went back to evil. And yeah, I concur, the short term benefits outweigh the long term cons. It doesn't really matter if someone declares war on you when you have all these bonuses to soldiering and ship quality because they will be inferior peasants in comparison.
I noticed a lot of stuff that didn't apply to me, hence my nicely low score. The only thing that actually made me Geekish Tendencies rather than Major Poser was my computer knowledge and habits. It puzzles me why anyone would want to be geekier. I mean, why not be an individual and forge your own identity?
And me being the neutral guy strongly suggest that you do what you want to do, and not feel pressured to join anything that pops up here.
I just use the Battleship tech to sell for unfair amounts to the other races. Cap ships don't start to become worthwhile until you hit the Dreadnought stage.
14.7929% - Geekish Tendencies MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Military victories apparently give the best scores, since they're supposedly harder to achieve.
Yeah, it came with the bonus pack I believe. It's one sweet ship, just one of those can take out entire fleets at a time.
Super starbase like a Death Star that can go around at hyper speeds and attack stuff?
I thought there was no bonus, I remember someone posting that you don't get a bonus, so attacking something like a battleship with a bunch of starfighters stacked would get you killed.
More importantly, can it ever happen to you? Is there a chance in Hades that the humans can get that event and have the opportunity to become the overlords of the galaxy like everyone else? That'd be something to strive for.
I thought the original was programmed alone by Frogboy, and Stardock didn't exist back then. Perhaps he rarely posts because he's busy programming the expansion to have it ready by late summer.
You only had 7 star systems? How did you survive that long without being crushed by everyone else?
I've played several games since I've bought it and I've never had either of those events, but I've heard people talking about it all the time.
Yes, and a very clever way of doing it too. Be careful not to do it too often lest you get targeted as being a spammer by Yog Sloth.
So... have there been any updates to the mod? Or did it sort of die off? I'm interested in swapping the Rebel ship graphics in favour of the Imperial ships, since they're much cooler.
Building things like research labs and centers and for immediate results, increase your government spending or divert more funds from social and military production to research.
Purple stars don't exist in real life as far as I know, perhaps it's just to distinguish between bonus giving stars and plain old stars. Neutron stars would have swirling gases around it and black holes would not be seen unless theres another star nearby.
I vote for G.R.O.S.S. simply because they are cruel and I'm a firm believer in the Master Race technology. There isn't an alien species that we can't conquer and enslave.
I like advanced slavery myself. "Just like old times only in the future" that cracked me up the first time I researched that.
I've watched experience levels affect my corvettes before as they went around thrashing stuff. It seems to act just like exp would in any other game by increasing attack and defense and hp.
The only colour I can think of that would give such a bonus is those odd purple stars that also have habitable planets in them.
